For a country borrowing so much how do you give away GHc 1 million to one person for service in government. I don't care if these people came up with the cure of malaria, ebola or made Ghana an utopia, as government employees you don't get ex gratia awards. Government workers in the rich countries who have invented technology or researched deadly diseases for the world to benefit are not even rewarded this way.

Let us rid our country off this friends and family willy nilly rewards. It was a BIG mistake for Kufour to have started this nonsense and he indeed got the back lash for it.
The power to do these awards should be taken away from board members which unfortunately in Ghana is usually made up of cronies of the government in power. The board decisions become more political than sensible.

If Ex-Gratia payment exists in government and public sector administration in Ghana with governing standard of rules and critetion then the rules should not be honored and applied indiscriminately. First of all we should understand why certain people with requisite qualities are employed into CEO positions. Services in such positions, ranging from 12 to 21 years is no mean service.

According to Kweku Baako, "senior executives of the of GNPC who worked during the Kufour administration were denied the same package..."

It is wrong and not equitable decision to deny the CEO in Kufour's administration as well as the former officers' Ex-Gratia payments. Rather this neglect decision can be referred to as lack of equity. Whether one group discovered oil, mud or nothing, is immaterial - All Ex-gratia payments should be honored.

Kweku described Kufour administration senior officers thus: who WORKED HARD. How could evaluate the work done by the former CEO and Kufour's CEO. To me, it shows his bias mindset.

'There was near pandemonium and confusion at the Annual Global African Investment Forum held in Westminster, Central London after a heated exchange between Ghana’s President John Mahama and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo degenerated into open insults.

This was due to General Obasanjo openly accusing the Ghanaian president and his government of blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa and financially contributing 12 million dollars to Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign last year.'

This infuriated President Mahama who lost his temper and pointing his finger , called General Obasanjo an ” idiot” and a “stupid buffoon”.

It took other ministers present as well as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to calm tempers and usher President Mahama to a nearby room'
Is this how low our presidency has been reduced to? So, couldn't Pres Mahama have denied the accusations by Obasanjo with hard facts without resorting to insults? Do you recall the huge billboards erected in Accra for Goodluck, before the Nigerian elections?
What did he say about Mugabe's recent comments about his behaviour as an African leader? His conduct falls below statesmanship manners, regardless of the provocation in a public forum.

Where in the civilized industrialized world do we know of citizens making the kind of money of a finders fee from a government property? By the way what is a Gh 1 million cedi relative to the millions of dollars the Kufour administration squandered on Ghana@50 even while spending US $4 billion on toilets? I expect Kweku Baako to put on his thinking cap and not get on the bandwagon of hysteria. Look here; for a population of 30 million Ghanaians it would have been far more equitable to give every Ghanaian US $100 for use to acquire and install toilets at home than for Kufour to have squandered in the name of progress.
