Its a matter of choice for a man and woman to decide to have marriage ceremonies or just cohabitate, have children and bring up their family. Most of our grandfather and mothers were cohabitating and their marriages were up to death depart them. There was no weeding those days. Three of my cousins had their marriages blessed when they and their husbands were over seventy years old. They cohabitated for more than fifty years and by the time they formalize their marriage had grand children. Marriage is between a male and a female and it is better for them to decide in what way their marriage should be.

I think part of the reason more couples are not marrying is the high cost of marriages. These days, families are charging men a lot of money before allowing them to marry their daughters. The list of items one must purchase before marriage is very long. Secondly, the amount of money the men have to pay to the women's families are just too much. It seems they are selling their daughters.Could this be one of the reasons why some men mistreat their wedded wives? Do the men feel they have bought their wives? I am just asking.
