There was near pandemonium and confusion at the Annual Global African Investment Forum held in Westminster, Central London after a heated exchange between Ghana’s President John Mahama and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo degenerated into open insults.This was due to General Obasanjo openly accusing the Ghanaian president and his government of blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa and financially contributing 12 million dollars to Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign last year. This infuriated President Mahama who lost his temper and pointing his finger, called General Obasanjo an ” idiot” and a “silly buffoon”.It took other ministers present as well as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to calm tempers and usher President Mahama to a nearby room. The forum, which takes place from 1st to 3rd December is attended by African Heads of States Ministers, Private equity firms and investors to discuss opportunities for investment and development in African Economies.

The fact was that, during Kufuor's regime secret import of armunition from Israel occured, I remember twice and carted from the Tema in the night. The guns were mostly AK 47. That time the article said they were sent to unknown destinations. I could remember so well it was said, the guns were NOT for the military or the police.

So Kufuor should be blamed for this. I know this will come to haunt him one day because I know so many in Ghana would remember this.

Panic over missing ammunition
There is a mounting sense of apprehension among state security officials and persons who have knowledge, about the apparent disappearance of six cases of ammunition imported from an unknown destination into the country through the Kotoka International Airport. The six cases were part of an original 133 case flown by air (identity of aircraft withheld for now) and cleared through AFGO. Sources say 127 cases were first flown and cleared leaving the six.

That an inspection by the Ghana Supply Commission revealed that six cases of the expected number could not be accounted for. The six however, eventually arrived; some retired officers of the Ghana army who apparently claimed to have been acting on authority cleared four.

The security sources wondered why their apparatus begun importing weapons, suggesting that it is only the defence ministry that should do the importation. Observers say the circumstances of importation suggests that the ammunition was not meant for neither the police nor the military with some hinting of sighting the moving of the “goods” to what appeared to be a private house on the Switchback road.

So far, there is no indication as to who could have been responsible for the loss of those six cases of ammunition but uneasiness are being betrayed in the wake of next year’s general elections and the spate of unbridled armed robbery.

The following was contained in an interview with Ms. Busia Based on articles written by Nana Frema Busia, and assertions made in at least one press conference, members of the Ghana Community Forum (an Internet Bulletin Board) submitted questions for Ms. Busia to answer.
