A few months ago, one of the greatest American President's in recent memory, met African leaders in Ethiopia, and in a speech he delivered, he asked a very apt question as to "why African leaders after failing the citizenry on all fronts still want to remain in power, because they are and become rich"?
This single question was greeted with an uproarious and deafening applause that lasted for close to about a minute or two?
Africans and Ghanaians in particular in the year 2016, are asking this single question as to why the John Dramani Mahama NDC gov't which has failed the governance test, still wants to remain in power after they have become rich through the monstrous scale of corruption, thievery and looting and unfathomable incompetence that has collapsed this country and never before witnessed in Ghana?
In a country where we have a Freedom of Information bill that has languished on the desk of the President and which the Mahama NDC parliamentary majority led by it's Speaker Edward Doe-Adjaho is unwilling and unable to pass, can anybody just anybody help Ghanaians understand why and how the Media would through their reportage plunge Ghana into violence when in the age of open governance as a tool of accountable governance and effective leadership, the gov't of the day is highly constrained to be truthful with the citizenry about development issues which the masses gave them their mandate to address, in an open, transparent and proper manner?
The President of the ADB Akinwumi Adesina said Africa loses over a staggering and colossal amount of close to $150billion dollars to corruption every year in Africa.
Ghanaians are asking, of this monstrous figure, how much is Ghana's contribution to the spiriting of funds out of Africa yearly, when Ghanaians wake up and hear of contracts and deals which lead to the ripping off of the Ghanaian citizen to the tune of over a quarter of a billion dollars in a very critical infrastructure need which is energy/power?
Can anybody explain to Ghanaians how this state of affairs is acceptable, and how the media reporting on such matters for example and a host of others, can plunge this country into violence?
Ghanaians are conflicted, very, very conflicted about the various happenings in the country under the John Dramani Mahama NDC gov't and Ghanaians with one loud resounding voice are thundering very loud and clear, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
The failure of the Mahama NDC gov't has no place in the administration of this country after the year 2016.
