What sort of made in Ghana goods is he advocating for a ban on importation? Ghana can barely produce anything in the midst of dumsor, let alone in sufficient quantities to ban imports. What is wrong with this guy? In any case, such blanket import ban does not make economic sense in a market economy because it can keep prices artificially high, make home producers inefficient and punish consumers with higher prices and low quality goods. Competition is far better than protectionism.

Instead of Nudom asking for import ban he should advocate for policies that will make local producers and manufacturers efficient, improve quality, cost effective, etc so that they can compete with foreign imports on both price and quality. That way they can also export their goods and services to earn foreign exchange. What a bad suggestion from someone with business experience or is it purely ideological?

He was horrified when another small foreign business competitor opened up on his right, and announced its arrival with an even larger sign, reading LOWEST PRICES.

The Ghanaian shopkeeper panicked, until he got an idea.

He put the biggest sign of all over his own shop.
