News about Dzifa Attivors thievery has gone international. Read about how the international media reported it and the global comments that followed.

Accra (AFP) - Ghana's transport minister resigned Wednesday after a controversy erupted following reports she spent about one million dollars to repaint over 100 buses with portraits of the country's recent leaders.

Dzifa Attivor had commissioned a private firm to respray 116 imported passenger busses with the faces of the West African country's past leaders and current president John Mahama.

But the seemingly innocuous branding exercise became a rallying point for the opposition party and anti-corruption campaigners, who used the issue to criticise the ruling party's economic management of the country.

Attivor's resignation is the first in many years for Ghana and comes after citizens filed a court action against the government demanding details of the bus contract.

The contract "did not ensure value for money," said Ghana's government after reviewing the bus painting deal and called for a reimbursement of some of the money.

Ghana's economic growth has stalled in the face of tanking commodity prices, with the ruling party coming under fire for wasteful spending in the run up to presidential and parliamentary elections next year.

Earlier this week, President Mahama banned first class travel for public officials, warning them to avoid "unwarranted" trips.

The country was forced to look to the IMF for emergency loans to help bolster its ailing economy, struggling to change its fortunes amid a power crisis.

As part of the agreement with the IMF, Ghana's authorities pledged to rein in spending.

Corruption in Ghana and Africa is part of life and understood by many Ghanaians and Africans as normal. This is tip of the iceberg, if you have to dig through people in government civil servants and law enforcement agencies, you might have to put all of them in jail. I remember I was in Ghana in 2009 driving unlicensed car in the night, I was able to bribe my way out with three can tunas after I was pull over by the Police. Everyone wants you to pay bribe to get things done. So sad it's happening

All customs and Security officials must be vigilant and ensure that all vehicles are thoroughly searched. Customs officers of the country of origin of vehicle must also take blame for allowing the truck to travesse their border. We need strong collaboration between these officials.

When the issues became very topical, the President John Dramani Mahama said, it was a "dress rehearsal" for the 2016 elections.
The Minister of Interior Mark Owen Woyongo gave a harbinger of what was to come when he said, "violence begets violence" effectively parroting and accepting the program of violence John Dramani Mahama had for this country in the 2016 elections.
It is therefore not surprising there is the build up of massive stockpiles of arms in the Mahama NDC world bank using Togo as the ingress point with it's distribution along the eastern corridor all the way up to Sofo Azorka's stronghold in the North.
Ghanaians are very clear in their mind John Dramani Mahama has failed and he must and will go, and no amount of intimidation, no amount of arms, no amount of bullets, no amount of guns, can perpetuate John Dramani Mahama in power in 2016 at the ballot box.
Ghanaians insist and demand John Dramani Mahama should leave power in 2016 and desist from these acts of aggression and intimidation as the dress rehearsal program for 2016 to win power at all cost in this country because Ghanaians are very resolute it will be resisted in this country.

What is the result of effort to stop cross border/ organized crime? In my opinion is zero. Reason do you know what the vehicle carried for the six appearances? Do yo know the driver, the owners of the goods? Do you know the reason of their activities? If I were the interior minister I will change all the security operatives all over the countries borders now and three months to elections. God bless and protect our homeland Ghana.

The Ghana Security Service should do whatever it takes to arrest the people involved. They may be or are agents of Boko Haram or ISIS. ARREST THEM !!! If not, the CEPS Officials should explain to Ghanaians, how these criminals were able to escape from them. Nothing more than that.
