  The land that the Ga people are claiming to be theirs belongs to the people of Akwamu in the Eastern Region. The Ga people were just settlers from Nigeria who were given pieces of land by the the king of Akwamu to settle on and do their fishing.
  When the Akwamus went to war with the Dutch and lost, most of their men were shipped out by the Dutch as slaves to St Thomas in the Carribbean. The few that were left fled across the Volta River. The Akwamu Kingdom became too weak to reclaim their land and the Gas took advantage of the situation. This is the reason why most of the legitimate Ga kings have Akan names.
  The real owners of the land in Greater Accra are Akans originally from the Akwamu Kingdom.

The Dutch landed in the gold coast in the beginning of the 1600s so where were the Gas during this war? U want to tell us Gas only came to Ghana in the 100s? ALSO are u aware that the Dutch also captured many of the Gas as slaves and sent them to Suriname? If Gas came from nigeria where do u and ur people come from

  The history of the Ashanti people can be easily researched as it has been covered by so many Western Academics & Scholars. It also been covered by Ghanian Acedemics such as the late Professor Adu Boahen & Dr Busia. The new Rattray Park in Kumasi was named after Captain Rattray, a British Colonial Official who carried out extensive research on Ashanti Culture & History, and learned to speak the Twi Language to assist him with carrying out his Research.
  The British Museum and the V&A Museum in London are major tourist attractions that display Asante Gold Regalia looted from the Palace of the Asantehene in 1874 & 1896, by the British Army.
  Thomas Bowditch in his famous publication called 'Mission from Cape Coast to Kumase' published in 1807, details his journey to Kumase and his observations about Ashanti Society. He details the well organised system of Government and found that similar to Britian the Ashanti's had developed Social Classes and Laws similar to that of the U.K. This book was riddiculed in the U.K. as Victorian Britain refused to believe that Africans who they regarded as savages could have such a well organised and developed Kingdom.
  Ashanti's do not have to make up anything about their history it has been covered in academic publications as far back as 1807.
