For some time now Ghanaians living outside the African continent have pushed to have dual citizenship accepted in Ghana even when the very process of obtaining citizenship in most western nations, presumed democratic, require naturalized citizens to renounce their citizenship to their birth nation state. So why is it that people in western nation can cast their votes without the very scrutiny placed on those living in neighboring African nations?

If a name showing up on the voter registries of Ghana and Togo or any other neighboring African nation is grounds for suspicion about their voting status in Ghana then why not ask for voter registry of every other nation on earth where Ghanaians have been known to live, work and or go to school? Is an illegal vote from any other continent better than illegal votes from our neighbors?
