Like it or not America has waded into our conflict and you will now see a structural transition of power to the NPP . On the surface the agreement said u can not handover American interest (prisoner, criminal etc) to the International Criminal Court (ICC), bring to the United States instead! John Mahama on the 30th October,2003 in Parliament spoke vehemently against the signing of this agreement sighting future repercussions just like we are faced with today on the terrorists issue. Hon. Alban S.K Bagbin led minority were "defeated" by the NPP and the agreement was signed in 2003 with Hackman Owusu pending his signature for Ghana. Today the USA has used clauses in that same agreement to TRANSFER their prisoners to us and we are here blaming innocent John Mahama. One major concern John Mahama raised on the floor of parliament at the time was the fact that the agreement had no termination clause meaning you sign it for life!!! Today the Ghanaian will wake from sleep to the reality that he has a "reformed" terrorist leaving next door. Nana Addo Danquah had his Cocaine season alright but left us with an agreement that gives the USA the right to establish Guantanamo Annex in Ghana. The NPP and its Parliamentary arm, have lawyers and ex-diplomats of the highest order in their ranks. As a collegiate party, they consulted together and issued a long, detailed statement. If Ben Ephson can understand that statement, he won't be making politically naive statements about Akufo Addo being different from ther NPP.

So, he is hiding behind the likes of Hamid and Kennedy Agyapong to do his dirty laundry for him.

If he were any honest and confident of his position, he could by now boldly come out to claim his position on the issue. But I do believe that Hamid, his special formal spokesperson, has been taking Akufo-Addo's position in the Public.

The strategy Akufo-Addo is following is that should anything go wrong with the that decision, he would not have his face attached to that decision, and would be safe to enjoy the windfall from such a debacle by Mahama.

On the other hand, if it works well and all simmers down in Peace, he would then, at a later date, when confronted on it, claim that he was supporting of that decision and that is why he did not say anything.

However, as close as this issue has been drawn to the hearts of many Ghanaians, even if not the majority, Akufo-Addo should have stated his position on it, being the leader of the biggest Opposition Party, and acting like he is already a President-In-Waiting of the Country.

It is bizarre that a Political Leader who has always touted his special relationship with the US and other Western Nations would remove himself out of the debate on this decision. He simply seems to be playing it conveniently safe, in order not to incur the wrath of many in his Political camp and the disappointment of his American 'friends'.

That is the kind of indecision we would have to expect during his probable Presidency. Ghanaians be warned!

I do not see how he should be commended on his silence. It is the same wrong tactical silence of his that has ripped NPP into the strands we see now.
