Compare that to jihad which is being waged in time past continues up till now against Christians primarily. 3) The issue at the CAR is between Muslims and the Anti-Baraka group. It is unfortunate the Chief Imam's Official did not mention the name of Anti-Baraka but found it convenient to mention the IRA. Anti-Baraka means Anti Sword. The battle there Started because the Muslims in CAR, who are mostly foreigners, picked up swords and started slaughtering the Christians who are the indegines. Such a passage hardly inculcates a spirit of free inquiry and intellectual curiosity. And this is the wave of the future: since the Western government and media elites are now dedicated to avoiding offending Muslims at all costs, and even asking theological questions can offend Muslims, we all just must accept the dictates of our new overlords without question. Wan Sulaiman Wan Ismail should have known better.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 — “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah,” is the first part of the shahadah, a declaration of faith for Muslims, which has its origins in a verse in the Quran.
“I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of God,” is the second part, but unlike the first, it does not appear in any of the holy scriptures.
So, where did it come from?
This was the question on the mind of Wan Sulaiman Wan Ismail, 53, when he sought clarification in 2013 from religious teachers on the origin of a practice considered as one of the key pillars of Islam.
The former businessman from Perak said he raised that question to several religious teachers, including scholars in the Ipoh mufti office, the Perak religious authorities and even state mosque imams. Many of these clerics, he said, were familiar with him as he met with them regularly for the past 15 years.
None, however, were able to answer him, so Wan Sulaiman stopped asking a year later.
But for seeking answers, Wan Sulaiman earned the attention of the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIP). He was summoned several times in 2014 by the authority, whose officers he claimed tried to dissuade him from posing his questions and to convince him to abandon several Quranic practices he has adopted.
The matter came to a head on January 21 this year when state religious enforcers raided his home in Ipoh and confiscated his handwritten personal notes, in addition to screening his personal computer and mobile phone.
On the same day, Wan Sulaiman was charged in the Ipoh Shariah High Court under Section 15 of the Perak Shariah Criminal Enactment 1992, with “mocking, ridiculing or insulting Quranic or hadith texts”.
According to a copy of his charge sheet sighted by Malay Mail Online, the Perak religious enforcers claimed that Wan Sulaiman possessed notes, some of which were hung on his wall, that allegedly “ridicule” the hadith — the collections of Prophet Muhammad’s sayings and deeds.
Wan Sulaiman, however, insisted that the notes were meant only for his personal use.
The prosecution also accused him of disputing authentic hadith for failing to interpret the Quran, and of rejecting the shahadah as taught by Muhammad by allegedly only accepting the first part.
He was also accused of translating the terms “fajar prayers” and “wusto prayers” by “using his own intellect without referring to the Prophet’s hadith”.
His case was set to be heard on May 21, but it was postponed to July 2. If guilty, Wan Sulaiman can be fined not more than RM5,000, jailed not more than three years, or both….

Knowing so well that the Christian leadership of Ghana has taken a position against the government on GITMO, the last thing the gov should do is approach the Muslim leadership to take the opposite position.
Going to the chief Imam in the first place is patronising. The views expressed by all others were freely made without any visit from government.

In supporting the gov, the Muslim leadership has opposed the Christians and this is a very bad approach by the gov in soliciting support. Whatever the Christians say from here on against the gov and GITMO will be seen by Muslims in Ghana & elsewhere as anti-Islam. That is the fuel for trouble.

The gov of GH does not seem proactive or forward thinking. I am now getting worried for the future of GH.

I strongly advice the Christians to (from now on) desist from making anymore comments positive or negative about this GITMO issue. For the sake of Ghana & peace of the world, I would like the Christians and everyone else who opposes the gov on this GITMO thing to be wrong in the long run.

Let's hope that these guys will be no problem to GH & that the chief Imam is right that the guys are peaceful.

The so called response has been written by some government operatives. The substance of the response is not so much different from the angle the President had come from in his defense for the two Gitmo detainees. The president plan is to seek support from the Muslim community and use it to create division in the two religions. By this pseudo strong response, the President and his Hannah Tetteh seem to have scored a point. But is not strange, that the so-called response came into the public domain this soon? No one should be fooled by the wicked intensions of the President. Christians and Muslims have lived in perfect unity in Ghana before President Mahama managed to get elected. Two Yemeni nationals cannot be used to bring turmoil in Ghana of thirty million Christians and Muslims.

What I mean is, if Muhammad sanctioned the use of the sword and marrying under aged girls, why should we be surprised at the decapitations going on and abduction of women as is going on in Nigeria and Syria? It's one thing a Christian or a Muslim killing someone because he's personally depraved, and another thing such a person doing so and shouting Allahu Akbar. When a depraved Christian is committing murder he knows he's going against his Christ's command and practice. But if you have someone killing and shouting Allah hu Akbar, does such a person think he's going against Islam? Why so many suicide bombings? Do they do them in spite of Isam? It is the only religion that typically does those things. There were slaves in the Arab lands called "aabid" before the white men came. And sadly, it's mostly the blacks who were slaves. And I understand Bilal was a black slave around Muhammad. What Muslims don't understand about Christianity is that Christians are always "working out our salvation with fear and trembling" and for that reason we don't move as a herd. Everyone is working out their salvation personally. While we help one another as Christians, each has their own responsibility to work out their salvation. A Christian may know for themselves whether they are on the path and not necessarily about the other Christian whether he/she is the path. Because nobody can claim to know the other's private life. Christians maintain their individuality before Christ, so it is difficult to recruit Christians massively for foolish suicidal missions like we had with the 20 Muslims committing 9/11. Christians cannot be herded that way. And the Bible enjoins us to question and examine everything. And not to take anything for granted. Christians do not seek to declare a whole country Christian as the Muslims are wont doing, calling a country Islamic, as if that's what will take the whole land to heaven. A person may be holding a Bible, but that does not necessarily faze another Christian. What's important is what that individual does in their private lives before their Christ, and through Him to the Father. Christians know our Christ is alive and real so we don't take the sword in defense of His name. Our Christ Jesus is able to defend himself. These Gitmo duo, if they were Christians, other Christians would have seen them as false for taking up arms in someone else's country. If we received them, it would first and foremost be on the basis of teaching them about the peace of Christ, otherwise we wouldn't rally around them as Christians just because they claim it.

Mustapha Hamid, a lecturer at the Department of Religion and Human Values of the University of Cape Coast has accused President John Mahama of violating the nation’s laws on anti-terrorism, for hosting two former Guantanamo Bay detainees.

Mr Hamid argued that the President should have asked Parliament to review the anti-terrorism Act 762 before accepting the two.

“…The Antiterrorism Act 762 section 35 states that the Director of Immigration or an officer authorized by the director shall not grant an endorsement or authority to permit a person to enter this country if there is reasonable ground to suspect that the person is, will or has been involved in the commission of a terrorist act. The sovereign laws of Ghana states that people like this cannot come into our country. So if the president was going to bring people like that what he should have done was to seek a repeal or a review of this law to make it possible,” he added.

Two former Guantanamo Bay inmates; Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammad Salih Al-Dhuby are currently in Ghana as free men at the behest of the US government who had assured that the two pose no security threat to the nation.ADVERTISEMENT
Meanwhile the decision has generated massive public outcry despite the assurances.

President John Mahama while interacting with the media called for compassion for the former detainees.

But speaking on the Point Blank segment on Eyewitness News, Mustapha Hamid who wants the detainees repatriated said the action by the President will send Ghana back to authoritarian rule.

“I am calling on all Ghanaians that it is important that we stand up and protect the laws of our country. Once we have opted for democracy…we ought to stick to the rudiments of rule of law otherwise future presidents are going to use compassion as ground to violate Ghana’s laws with impunity and that will send us back to authoritarian rule. Now, today, he violates the antiterrorism Act and goes scot free, tomorrow which other law do we know he is going to violate because of compassion?” Mohammed Hamid questioned.

It's shocking that these three Christian bodies who celebrated the birth of Christ just few weeks ago have shown their fellow man pure aversion. "Love your neighbour as yourself" does not say that unless your neighbour behaves well. There is a thin line between sincerity and hypocrisy, and I'm sorry to say these Christian leaders have fallen flat on their bellies and swimming in hypocrisy. This will backfire because many muslims in Ghana are suffering and nothing has been done to improve or better their livelihoods. The party is trying to pitch muslims agains christians in Ghana. My problem with our Christian Leaders is that what is their positive input into governance of this country. What do they prophesy about? How often do they pray for this country? The issue has nothing to do with their faith, america did not detain them for 14 years because they were muslims but because they had connections with terrorists groups. For a man who is so close to the national Imam to talk like this is very worrying. Are there not muslims flying in and out of the country everyday and are they manhandled for their faith? This Paul was a murderer and of course a terrorist who slain, butchered and killed innocent people before he was purported to have inspired by the spirit to write. How do you that the spirit inspired him? and which spirit was it- the demonic spirit or the spirit of God?
I want the christians (so called) to understand that the problems of this world is as a result of their hypocricy and penchant for supremacy. Their wrong understanding is that, the two detainees are "terrorists'' being unleashed on Ghana. On the contrary, these refugees were arrested and detained as terrorist suspects but after thorough investigations, they have been found to have done nothing and hence the decision to release them.
In all earnest, before the President accepted the offer to provide refuge to the former detainees, thorough background checks had been done by both US and Ghanaian security experts.
The Christian leaders are simply enacting the story of the good Samaritan in which those who pride themselves to know God best failed to lend a helping hand to a fellow man in need. I suspect our Christian leaders are doing this due to their disrespect for the President prbably because of where he comes from. The Bible enjoins all Christians to submit themselves to the rulers God has set over them. For them to think that they care about the security of the country more than the one who is mandated to do so, is simply, hypocrisy.
Those who can discern know that, time will prove the President right.

The Spokesman of the Chief Iman cannot force all Ghanaians irrespective of our religious affiliatiion, to accept a position, a condition and a situation, a substantially huge majority of Ghanaians are not in agreement with. He should apologize to all Ghanaians for such unguarded comments because they have no place in this country.
The matter under discussion is two alleged terrorists with terrorists links who have been brought into this country by John Dramani Mahama without the approval of Ghanaians, all Ghanaians, irrespective of their religion first and foremost, and the threat this action perceivably poses on Ghanaians, all Ghanaians, irrespective of religion.
Unless, from the argument being made by the Spokesman of the Chief Iman and John Dramani Mahama of the NDC led administration, the two alleged terrorists were brought into this country to specifically to incite religious acrimony and hatred between Ghanaians and not a short term temporary measure in this case of rehabilitation of two supposed terrorists.
The Spokesman of the Chief Iman should be very circumspective in his utterances and exhibit the needed maturity and respect Ghanaians accord the office and person of the Chief Iman.

When you remove a man from one detention centre and transfer him to another place where his movements are restricted, where he is constantly under surveillance and he is not allowed to go back to his family and friends, do you call that compassion? Choosing to ignore the underlying security concerns being expressed by the society and some Christian bodies, and reducing the expressed concerns to religion worsens the fears of the public based on recent arrests of suspected adherents of Taliban in the Northern region, and the continuous reports of Terrorists activities in the sub region. We should not ignore the fears of the public because affiliates of Religious terrorist groups kill people of all faiths, so we should not trivalise it and pitch one faith against the other.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 — “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah,” is the first part of the shahadah, a declaration of faith for Muslims, which has its origins in a verse in the Quran.
“I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of God,” is the second part, but unlike the first, it does not appear in any of the holy scriptures.
So, where did it come from?
This was the question on the mind of Wan Sulaiman Wan Ismail, 53, when he sought clarification in 2013 from religious teachers on the origin of a practice considered as one of the key pillars of Islam.
The former businessman from Perak said he raised that question to several religious teachers, including scholars in the Ipoh mufti office, the Perak religious authorities and even state mosque imams. Many of these clerics, he said, were familiar with him as he met with them regularly for the past 15 years.
None, however, were able to answer him, so Wan Sulaiman stopped asking a year later.
But for seeking answers, Wan Sulaiman earned the attention of the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIP). He was summoned several times in 2014 by the authority, whose officers he claimed tried to dissuade him from posing his questions and to convince him to abandon several Quranic practices he has adopted.
The matter came to a head on January 21 this year when state religious enforcers raided his home in Ipoh and confiscated his handwritten personal notes, in addition to screening his personal computer and mobile phone.
On the same day, Wan Sulaiman was charged in the Ipoh Shariah High Court under Section 15 of the Perak Shariah Criminal Enactment 1992, with “mocking, ridiculing or insulting Quranic or hadith texts”.
According to a copy of his charge sheet sighted by Malay Mail Online, the Perak religious enforcers claimed that Wan Sulaiman possessed notes, some of which were hung on his wall, that allegedly “ridicule” the hadith — the collections of Prophet Muhammad’s sayings and deeds.
Wan Sulaiman, however, insisted that the notes were meant only for his personal use.
The prosecution also accused him of disputing authentic hadith for failing to interpret the Quran, and of rejecting the shahadah as taught by Muhammad by allegedly only accepting the first part.
He was also accused of translating the terms “fajar prayers” and “wusto prayers” by “using his own intellect without referring to the Prophet’s hadith”.
His case was set to be heard on May 21, but it was postponed to July 2. If guilty, Wan Sulaiman can be fined not more than RM5,000, jailed not more than three years, or both….

This is their belief, but he who tests it with reason and subjects it to investigation, will find it a chain of absurdities. If you were to wonder at it you would be justified; for there is certainly nothing more surprising than their claims. They do not realize that justice is much more important and much more obligatory than mercy and to let off the guilty and punish the innocent is to destroy both justice and mercy; and no one would be guilty of that save one who is utterly demented.
Again, both promise of reward for good deeds and warning of punishment for transgression are prerequisites of any punitive action. How can then the infliction of punishment on anyone be justified before the promulgation and consolidation of the canons of law and how can the punishment of the former or latter generations be justified for commission of an act that had not been preceded by a warning that its commission would entail a penalty and with no one being informed of it? The truth of the matter is that no concept of justice can be established except after the revelation of the Book of God and His promise and His warning and His commandments and the limits set by Him and His directives. Attributing a strict concept of justice to God, the Supreme, is utterly erroneous and without a true basis, for, justice is inconceivable until after the establishment of rights and their binding character.
But those who disobeys his Lord and His commandments and disregards His injunctions and turns away will certainly be punished. Therefore, when requital is incidental to promise and prohibition and not to justice as a Divine obligation of God, the towering structure erected by the Christians in their fancies collapses utterly. Commentary on the Holy Quran Surah Fatiha pgs. 132-134
The concept of curse is related to the heart. A person can only be called cursed when his heart turns away from God and becomes black and bereft of God’s mercy. When it is deprived altogether of the love of God and is emptied of all recognition of God and becomes spiritually blind like Satan. A person is cursed when he is filled with poison and severs all relationships with God, and becomes filled with rancor, hatred, discus and enmity towards God. He becomes God’s enemy and God becomes his enemy. Paul should have reflected on this definition of accursed, before inventing the doctrine of Jesus becoming accursed to free us from the curse of the law. This concept is not consistent with the holy status of Jesus and must be rejected to save Jesus from this vicious attack. Also, if Jesus is part of the trinity and so amalgamated with the Father, as if they were one, then how could Jesus be Holy as we all believe God is, and accursed at the same time.
Regarding the authority of Paul to replace the covenant of Moses, to replace the LAW of Moses with faith, we read in the Old and New Testaments.

According to Deut. 29:15-19 all the followers of Moses were bound by the law, present and future. If they failed to comply, he warned of dire consequences. He warned of those who would urge his followers to abandon the law as “a root sprouting poisonous and bitter growth.”

This law was to be obeyed forever. Duet:29:29 29 The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.

The Imam's spokesperson is right. The Christian and Pentecostal Councils and the Catholic Bishops made a grave error by failing to engage the Muslim leadership in honest and open discussions on the detainees before rushing to the Government and the US Embassy to try and reverse the admission of the detainees into Ghana.

Additionally, many of the comments of the Christian leaders show they did not base their objections to anything of provable concrete facts and REAL commonsense but hypothetically derived paranoia. It is ironic how the Christian Council and its allies were the ones that first insinuated that the Government's decision was not based on commonsense.

Instead, with most of facts accessible, it is clear that it is the Christian Council and its allies that lacked commonsense in their way of dealing with the case.

So, I would agree that, at best, the Council has been xenophobic. And at worst, it might have some combination of religious bigotry and Political bias associated with its position on this crisis.

The question is not about being Christian or Muslim. We are talking about "a caught in the red terrorists" who kill both Christians and Muslims with impunity hiding behind a jihadist doctrine. Ghana does not give a hoot about what religion one practices when it comes to our peaceful way of lives. A murderer is a murderer. Religion plays no roll in the eyes of God/Allah. What most Ghanaians are saying is that, we don't need international murderers among us. Why can't they go to their countries of origin? Even their own countries of the brotherhood of Muslims don't want them. Is the spokesperson for the CI faulting or accusing even Yemen of being biased against their own kind? Compare that to jihad which is being waged in time past continues up till now against Christians primarily. 3) The issue at the CAR is between Muslims and the Anti-Baraka group. It is unfortunate the Chief Imam's Official did not mention the name of Anti-Baraka but found it convenient to mention the IRA. Anti-Baraka means Anti Sword. The battle there Started because the Muslims in CAR, who are mostly foreigners, picked up swords and started slaughtering the Christians who are the indegines. The Christians also got up and over-powered them and that gave rise to the Anti-Baraka movement.

AMA banning churches in classrooms, Northern Regional Minister accusing the Christian clergy of encouraging politicians to be corrupt. These are all plans aimed at suppressing Christianity to please the OIC. These are all indicators that Mahama is feverishly handing over Ghana to the Organisation of Islamic Conference for Money. We should remember Islam is useless without direct state support and so Mahama is providing that support to Muslims to grow in Ghana whilst at the same time suppressing Christians. He is doing this because Islam as a religion is useless without direct political/government intervention.

But what I see now emerging is that Ghanaians are turning it into a security threat to themselves and for themselves! Which is very, very sad!!! And most regretable!!! Those 2 former detainees have not shot a bullet yet, nor have they committed any act of terrorism yet, on the soil of Ghana, but already, in less than 2 weeks of their stay in Ghana, Ghanaians, themselves, are turning their presence here into a religious acrimony between Muslims and Christians! This, is the height of immaturity and recklessness!

Either consciously or unconsciously, the Mahama-led administration is mobilising the leadership of the muslim community in Ghana against the leadership of the christian community in Ghana! By visiting the Chief Imam and making their case to him for accomodating those 2 former detainees, who happen to be muslims, in Ghana, the Foreign Minister-led delegation is not only soliciting the support of the leadership of the muslim community in Ghana, but also, most irresponsibly, framing the issue into a religious one! This is not a religious issue; nor is it a conflict between muslims and christians! Only irresponsile, immature idiots would frame and make the issue into a conflict between muslims and christians in Ghana!

It may be the behaviour of the three christian bodies -- their condemnation of the govt's accomodation of the 2 detainees in Ghana -- that has 'occasioned' the govt's resort to mobilising the support of muslism to its defence. I, for one, think those christian bodies have over-blown the security implications of the 2 detainees' presence in Ghana out of proportion! Still, I do recognise that the members of those christian bodies are Ghanaians and reserve their right to express their misgivings about a govt's decision! Ghanaians, whether christians or not, have a right to see the presence of those 2 former detainees in their midst as a security threat even if it's exaggerated. What a responsible govt does in response is to undertake measures to allay their apprehensions, instead of mobilising opposing religious forces against them!

If by condemning the Mahama-led administration's accomodating of those former GITMO detainees in Ghana, the Christian Council is xenophonic, so what? If they are xenophobic, they have right to be so! They are Ghanaians and they have a right to voice their opinion on matters concerning Ghana even if it makes them xenophobic!

The govt's behaviour only give them (the govt) away as palpably immature, clearly inexperienced and somewhat childish to handle such a delicate, combustible matter! Their immature, irresponsible way of tackling the issue is turning into a case of boys being tasked by the US govt to do men's job!

As for that supposed spokesman of the Chief Imam, his utterances only give him away as dangerous, half-stupid and fully myopic a material that is not worth mobilising for the cause of mobilising muslim leadership against christian leadership in the country! Even for such a foolish cause, you don't use irrational hotheads whose convictions are loaded with demonic logic and persuasions full of crass nonsense!!!

Surely there is something wrong with us as a country. Did the christian council say the two did not have a right to life or that the two should be executed absolutely no. Ghana has shown love and compassion to others when the need arose. Liberia, Chad and Negia Ghana took refugees from these Countries . Ghana was facing food crisis in the wake of Bush fires. We were hard hit by the bush fires we still accommodated our neighbours. Christians Muslims and refugees we all cued in lines for rice from the Catholic church other Christian organizations came in to help not only Ghanaians but the refugees also. Was the church not being compassionate at that time? Was the Church also xenophobic at that time.That was then but now known foot soldiers of terrorist who will become commanders have been stationed in Ghana and the church in Ghana is saying they should be sent back to where they came from and we are giving the church all sorts of names Surely there is something wrong and we need to pray as a nation for God to have mercy on us.

Mahama has an agenda for bringing these ex-convicts into the country. If Ghanaians would remember Just before the 2012 elections some Israelis were brought into the country under the pretext of helping in the Melcom disaster in the end it they were deployed on a different role which facilitated the incumbent in rigging the election. Mahama will do anything possible to stay onto power even if he has to bring in terrorist to destabilize the country before the election so that the country will be declared not ready for the elections. We should all open our eyes.

Parliament should have handled this matter rather than the president. America president wouldn't do that if congress were not told. This is really lack of common sense. We don't want chaos to occur in Ghana because Muslims & Christians are living peacefully.
