Political parties should now weed out all corrupt elements and focus on those who are loyal to the needs and wants of our people. The reaction of the chief imam and his spokesman also confirms that Islam and Muslims have no loyalty to the interests of the majority or the people of Ghana so we need to do everything to separate ourselves or ban Islam. Why is it that common sense does not factor in the equation and they rejoice at the reception of these terrorists . Is it because they now have the direct links to start undermining even more the society? They add insult to injury and claim we are xenophobic but refuse to recognize the fact that we would react in the same way when the USA chooses to start exporting their other criminals like pedophiles , mafia cosa nostra or simple psychopath murderers. If we were calm in receiving their criminals then that would be cause for worry so they should all shut the fuck up.
The silence of Nana on the matter of these gitmo ex cons is a confirmation that both he and Mahama have capitulated in the face of a greater force and i suspect the super power USA. Like it or not America has waded into our conflict and you will now see a structural transition of power to the NPP . Looking at how the Guantanamo detainees issue has increased the political tension in the country, Ghanaians will be lucky if this does not ultimately spill-over to some kind of civil disorder and the complete removal of the Mahama govt before the elections later this year.

It is now very difficult to imagine how Mahama can survive or continue to rule this country with any credibility from now on. It seems to me that he has entirely lost the plot. Even his talkative and cantankerous mob of Ministers and communications hangers-on seem to have all of a sudden relapsed into some kind of depressive coma. The quality of their diminishing confrontational utterances, have declined to a level of reluctant duty.

It will be very difficult for Mahama now to erase or even reverse the unfortunate image that he has now gained for himself as a pitiable neo-colonialist errand-boy, working for the larger evil aims of global imperialism instead of for the interest of those who voted for him and his countrymen.

At this stage, the quality of his presidency vividly reminds me of the ominous political tensions that gripped the country prior to the overthrow of the Busia and Limann govts.

It is clear you don't understand the issue at stake concerning the ex-detainees from Guantanamo bay. These guys were wrongfully detained there for 14 years on suspicion that they were terrorists. Copious investigation by the US has however revealed that they had done nothing wrong so they are being released. They are not terrorists. Ghana has therefore shown leadership by offering them compassion to enable their lives to be rehabilitated in Ghana.
From your long comment, you failed to provide evidence that it is these ex-detainees that are responsible for the terrorist acts occurring elsewhere. Indeed these ex-detainees have no link with such terrorist acts.

I believe also there may have been miscommunication between the government and the media in conveying the how of the transfer of the 2 detainees and thus the outcry. This "learned scholar" repeatedly makes statements which suggests he is hopelessly out of touch with what goes on on the ground in Ghana. My own take of the situation in Ghana suggests that the Gitmo 2 palaver will NOT have much effect on the way the people will vote in November 2016. Two reasons: first the people of Ghana who do the voting don't really care about the issue. The people are too short sighted or downright stupid. This Gitmo 2 issue is something the upper and middle classes may care about but they do not elect governments. Second, I am convinced the NDC has found a way to pervert the electoral processes. NDC information technology technicians are affecting the results by tampering with the election results. This is my personal belief - not based on any empirical evidence. This 'learned scholar' of law lives and works in the United States and his frame if reference is what he sees in America. Ghana is a whole different kettle of fish, and it is a kettle which is rotten to the core. Ghanaian leadership has never had the good of the country at heart so the rot persists.
