I don't know what the so-called leftists are talking about, and I don't believe NPP is behind the strikes either. As far as I know NPP is only highlighting the failings and excesses of the NDC government hopping to translate that into votes for the party in the next elections, and that is genuine and legitimate politics since the failings are true and not false. Everybody in Ghana knows that cost of living under this government is unbearable and NPP is democratically presenting itself as an alternative and seizing the opportunity to convince the electorate not to vote for NDC in the next elections if they are serious about saving themselves from incompetence and corruption.

Frankly, I don't see anything wrong with an opposition highlighting the failings of an incapable government in order to wrest power from it democratically. Mahama and his NDC administration are responsible for the strikes because of the massive corruption, over spending, reckless borrowing and overall economic mismanagement that have characterized the regime and brought untold hardship on Ghanaians. NDC could not frivolously spend $5bn of public money outside the budget in 2012 to buy the conscience of gullible voters, and expect everything to be normal in the subsequent years without any difficulties in our fragile economy. In fact, these are some of the main reasons why Ghanaians are wallowing in hunger and are being overtaxed.

Those sensless demostrations forced the Hand of Chairman Rawlings from implimenting 17% VAT but Nana Addo through kufour´s Regime re-introduced VAT at a higher rate of 22%.As if that was not enough,they brought new range of taxes in the Country.So,who does this akyem dwarf out to deceive?

Anyway, for some of us, through our hardwork and God's blessings we can afford at least the basics and can also take very good care of our families; so if the very poor suffering Ghanaians cannot decern and allow John Mahama and his corrupt cohorts to deceive them in 2016, its up to them. This is mere political propaganda by the over ambitious Akufo Addo you scrape off all the taxes where will the money come from for free secondary education and the many things you are promising any way there may be more family properties like houses to be sold for money to be used to administer the country. Please Akufo Addo tell the people the truth and youmay have the sympathy of the electorate. When the first NDC under J J Rawlings increased prices of fuel then candidate Kuffour promised to reduse the prices drastically when he was voted president what did we see when he won it was the exact opposite so Akufo Addo your dirty propaganda will not work. Tell Ghanaians the truth that we need these taxes for development and for the payment of debts whivh all the past Governments recklessly helped to heap on the Ghanaian citizens.
