He was considered as a low-level prisoner, a mere foot soldier, the same adjectives grossly overweight Hannah Tetteh is using to describe the Gitmo 2. The Americans released Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in December 2004, and the rest is history.
That is how much trust one can place in or on American assurances. In fact, John Mahama has proven himself to be the most useless and stupid president ever in Ghana's history. You cannot love your friend more than yourself or country, these guys are calculating, cunning, and calm just like their spiritual father Osama Bin Laden. They are operating on a long plan strategy whereas the Kwadonto Opana Mahama is just happy to ingratiate himself in the good books of the Americans. These guys are Al Qaeda seeds sent to start influencing our gullible youth and foolish NDC handlers say we should express our Christian values to them. And this is the wave of the future: since the Western government and media elites are now dedicated to avoiding offending Muslims at all costs, and even asking theological questions can offend Muslims, we all just must accept the dictates of our new overlords without question. KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 — “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah,” is the first part of the shahadah, a declaration of faith for Muslims, which has its origins in a verse in the Quran.
“I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of God,” is the second part, but unlike the first, it does not appear in any of the holy scriptures.
So, where did it come from?
This was the question on the mind of Wan Sulaiman Wan Ismail, 53, when he sought clarification in 2013 from religious teachers on the origin of a practice considered as one of the key pillars of Islam.
The former businessman from Perak said he raised that question to several religious teachers, including scholars in the Ipoh mufti office, the Perak religious authorities and even state mosque imams. Many of these clerics, he said, were familiar with him as he met with them regularly for the past 15 years.
None, however, were able to answer him, so Wan Sulaiman stopped asking a year later.
But for seeking answers, Wan Sulaiman earned the attention of the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIP). He was summoned several times in 2014 by the authority, whose officers he claimed tried to dissuade him from posing his questions and to convince him to abandon several Quranic practices he has adopted.
The matter came to a head on January 21 this year when state religious enforcers raided his home in Ipoh and confiscated his handwritten personal notes, in addition to screening his personal computer and mobile phone.
On the same day, Wan Sulaiman was charged in the Ipoh Shariah High Court under Section 15 of the Perak Shariah Criminal Enactment 1992, with “mocking, ridiculing or insulting Quranic or hadith texts”.
According to a copy of his charge sheet sighted by Malay Mail Online, the Perak religious enforcers claimed that Wan Sulaiman possessed notes, some of which were hung on his wall, that allegedly “ridicule” the hadith — the collections of Prophet Muhammad’s sayings and deeds.
Wan Sulaiman, however, insisted that the notes were meant only for his personal use.
The prosecution also accused him of disputing authentic hadith for failing to interpret the Quran, and of rejecting the shahadah as taught by Muhammad by allegedly only accepting the first part.
He was also accused of translating the terms “fajar prayers” and “wusto prayers” by “using his own intellect without referring to the Prophet’s hadith”.
His case was set to be heard on May 21, but it was postponed to July 2. If guilty, Wan Sulaiman can be fined not more than RM5,000, jailed not more than three years, or both….

And you should be accurate when you start spouting stuff about what actually led to Baghdadi's radicalization. It was not the Americans who pushed him over the edge. Rather, it was the anti Sunni policies of the Shiite led Iraqi government that drove him to extremism.
And if you are so sure that the two former Gitmo detainees are real terrorists and guilty of the charges preferred against them, then trot out your evidence. Even the most vaunted intelligence agency in the world, the CIA could not find anything implicating these fellows in acts of terrorism, small wonder they were let go.

1) It is a possibility that Satan was there following Jesus around and when Peter made those statements, Jesus, who is eternal God, rebuked Satan who was present yet invisible. Keep in mind that Satan was present at the Last Supper when he indwelled Judas. (John 13:26-27 KJV) Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. Another principle emerges and that is be careful who your friends are because they may cause you to stumble in your Christian walk as Peter inadvertently tried to keep Christ from going to the cross.
2) Peter was rebuked because he was looking at things from man’s point of view rather than from God’s point of view. This would be a very subtle satanic method and very innocuous. It showed Peter had a caring spirit but one that was misguided. Jesus rebuked Peter because his thoughts were in line with Satan’s thoughts which would be anti-God even if it was done violently. Much sin is committed under the guise of care when it is misguided. This is why we need to check things out in the Scriptures, no matter how caring a person is, if they are misleading us, then they must be rebuked and this is what Jesus did with Peter. He was not chiding him but trying to refocus his thinking back on the things of God. Jesus was always teaching and training His disciples, as He was here with Peter, so when Pentecost came and they were filled with the Spirit, the disciples would be ready to start evangelizing.

The Catholics Conference President's prescription is rather likely to open up the country to terrorist attacks.
A little over 2000 years ago, some heads of some Religious Groups falsely accused and demanded the death by crucifiction, Jesus Christ simply because he was aswaging the attention of the people from them the Religious leaders to himself, the Christ.
One fact that needs to be pointed out is that Leadership positions in most Religious Organizations are mostly based on lobbying and Campaigning just as it is done in political parties. Therefore the President of the Catholic Conference may not necessarily be the most pious or reverent.
Was it not this very man who openly declares that doing good should be spiced with "common sense"?

Pope Francis is on record as travelling round the world preaching MERCY as God's greatest attribute. A quote from him goes like this, “The name of God is mercy. There are no situations we cannot get out of, we are not condemned to sink into quicksand.” These Gitmo 2, wrongly detained as terrorists for 14 years, are in need of mercy to rehabilitate their lives. Ghana has done the noble thing by giving them refuge which is in line with the Pope's gospel.
Yet, a bishop subordinate to the Pope does not have any regard for mercy.

My good old professor of Sociology of Religion once said he propounded the theory that the African christian theology could never be the same as the European or the American because each would be affected by their cultural backgrounds. I think my professor is highly vindicated with what is coming from the mouth of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Ghana and the Christian council of Ghana. I shudder to think Rev Father Cambpell would give his assent to such a wicked thought. There are some others who would not support this but might be quiet else they are "suspended". Would the Pope rein such pastors of his church?
One certainly does not have to be a christian to show compassion to fellow human beings. It is an act of civilization. The Rev and his group are highly unfit to lead the church. America has been of great help to us and we must not betray her in this critical moment.

Someone also said that Ghana is not a Christian country but that Christians are in the majority. Please read through the lines. But I know that you depend heavily on your conscious, logical, intellectual, common sense mind. So you can't have compassion. Compassion is for persons who depend heavily on their superconscious mind, which is the mind of God within. The commonsense mind will always give you logical intellectual reasons not to be compassionate. But the superconscious mind of God within will always throw away common sense and express the loving qualities of God in everything done. But it is not surprising that this Bishop is behaving the way he does: not all who wear the Bishop label are for Jesus. It is biblical. Some are Anti-Christ.

Note that the Guantanamo 2 were never charged nor tried. If an African country had done what the US did, held people in detention for 14 years without trial, the Christian Council will be on its high horse proclaiming their innocence. Just reminds me of Animal Farm...as long as the atrocity is committed by the West, it is OK.
It is appalling that the Christian Council and others have become effectively political pressure groups. These "priests" are not priests at all; they are politicians in cassocks.
Please remove the cassocks so we know you for what you truly are. And by the way, stop making statements in the name of Christians...you don't speak for a lot of us!

But for the US based FOX radio station, the diplomacy that went into it before their being brought to Ghana would not in any way have exposed Ghana to danger. The Ghanaian media set the stage for people who did not give it a deep thought before taking positions. To me the reaction especially coming from the various Christians and the hate propaganda is what has already given us out as a nation for attacks. I think there were worst things that happened to this country - the church did not incite people to flood the streets to demonstrate. It is only this era! Ghana is already a volatile state due to our over politicization of everything. I thought the Church would have served as solace to the citizenry. However, its posturing of late is becoming too disappointing. I wish we caution ourselves that should we, in our individual/collective capacities incite the citizenry against state authority - we shall all get ourselves consumed in our own evil creation. But Most Rev. Bonsu, you remember Burundi/Rwandan madness of a massacre which consumed close to a million lives? And do you remember its Catholic population and where some Church leadership (and even 'Rev.'Fathers)prioritized their ethnic establishment against the Scriptures which preach LOVE - and gave out so-called enemy tribes to be killed in cold blood. You may say what I am referring to is not related to the issue in discussion but mind you every evil step taken, no matter its humble nature can degenerate into ugly outcomes. In the African parlance it is said that when an elder finds himself in the midst of the youth and a stranger comes to insult the entirety of the community, they will restrain themselves because of his presence. But when he opens his mouth and says 'in our days no stranger could come, insult this feared community and have his way' - you can guess what will happen to the stranger. This is what Bishop Bonsu is desirous of doing and it is very unfortunate and indeed, DANGEROUS.

Many people do not know how serious this could be because there has not been any terriorist activities in the country yet.
There has been many Ghanaian soldiers based in U.K and U.S.A. Who has been in Afghanistan and Iraq know exactly how deadly this could be. I've been deadly Afghanistan so I know what I am talking about. Rev Bonsu call for demonstration is good idea and should have been done longtime; however, the most important this is that someone like Rev Bonsu has seen the light.
The lucky President Mahama has been the most ungodly president who happened to rule the country at the expense of the late President Mill. Mahama derserves to be castrated by now.
