Are we putting the serious issues facing the country aside and arguing about English grammar and spellings. Ghanaians are funny people.

Go to England and you will see that even the English - mind you, not the British, if you happen to know the difference - make mistakes in their own language.

The diplomats walking the streets of London make mistakes in the English they speak - so what? The decisions they make are what matter.

Let us overcome this colonial mentality that ones should be listened to only if he or she speaks English like Maam (the Queen)

How many of us did English at higher school level. We have different skills to help us make a living - and that is what matters.

How many of us studied English at higher school level? If not why should we be speaking like we hold degrees in the language. I'm sure you understood what he was saying but did not like it. But instead of saying something sensible to refute tje points he raised, you resorted to being spiteful. That is unacceptable in a civilised society. We have different skills to help us make a living - and that is what matters.

I'm sure there are things he can do that you cannot do even if you are given the whole of your life.

The president has been saying that he tried to introduce electronic payment and acquisition systems into the public sector {to reduce human contact with cash} in his effort to fighting corruption, but lamented that the systems were often resisted.

This has become so monotonous that Ghanaians are beginning to wonder whether the president is actually serious and interested in fighting corruption as he claims, or it's just another crocodile's tears to deceive Ghanaians into believing that he is making an effort, while the government and its cronies amass billions of dollars at the expense of this struggling HIPC nation.
Why should Ghanaians hire a president that can't even introduce an electronic system successfully into the public sector to save us from criminals masquerading as civil servants? Mr. Mahama must be seen to be fighting corruption with all his might rather than go on lamenting helplessly like the rest of us who hired him to do the job.

We have been in this country when the uncompleted extension of the runway of Kumasi Regional Airport has been described by the Mahama NDC gov't as an ultra modern international airport comparable to any international airport in the US, Germany, France, UK, Holland, China, Hong Kong, etc, etc. So what does the Mahama NDC gov't means by an ultra modern Kumasi central market because Ghanaians have had it with mediocre leadership and propaganda.

However whilst the man was talking about restrictions to the liberties of the two Gitmo detainees, you Agyena-Karikari, for whatever funny reason - or without thinking, is talking about surveillance. There is a big difference between the two words and I advice you to look in an English dictionary for the meanings of those two words before you jump into discussions which are above you.

In the UK and the US for instance, today, almost the entire population of those countries are under constant surveillance by publicly placed video cameras and the tapping of their computers and mobile phones without necessarily restricting the movements of individuals. However when people or individuals are put into detention as in Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib or in Ghana, lately, their movements are in effect, restricted.

If the two transferred Guantanamo Bay detainees and tens of others transferred to various countries could not sue United States of America for keeping them in the rigid detainee camp for 14 years, what makes you think they have right to sue Ghana.

Obama wants the camp closed hence they were being transferred to countries which would be kind enough to accept them for upgrade and enhancement to their security infrastructure by USA. Ghana gains from security enhancements. They are not set free from the legal conditions they were under. Read, it states TRANSFERRED. America wants to keep them where the monitoring and surveillance on them can continue that is why they were not released to join their people at home.

This lawyer is cautioning the government to be wary of being sued by the two Yemenis should their rights be infringed upon. Godwin is not privy to the conditions on which the two were released into Ghana's custody. Perhaps he isn't aware that as a condition of their release into the country, the government agreed to place them under constant surveillance, while limiting their movement around the country. The government has even made it clear that the duo would have limited movement while in the country. Their rights are not being violated by the government by placing them under surveillance.Therefore, they have no grounds to sue the government. It appears the lawyer is positioning himself to represent them by encouraging them to file a suit against the government.

Is he trying to be a Lawyer for them for some money?
