This enabled him to create a one party state and made himself president for life.Nkrumah was already a "comrade" and communist disciple before he arrived in the Gold Coast from London, and we all know that communists don't share power and have a place for opposition in their system. He, therefore, used the multiparty system as a stepping stone to ascend to power cunningly, and then turned around to demolish it step by step to prevent others from ever getting to power democratically through the ballot box.
Our recent political history would explain what I have just said above. When Rawlings usurped power from Dr. Liman in the 80s and lunched his Cuban-Style Communist Dictatorship, there were always attempted coups and rumours of coups until he reinstated the multiparty system with some semblance of democracy in the country. In a multiparty democracy and rule of law, the opposition and all stakeholders wait patiently for their turn to take power democratically, if it is believed and confirmed that the incumbent is not using his position cunningly and unjustifiably to prevent them from coming to power democratically.
It is, therefore, clear that democracy and the rule of law are the only guarantors of peace and preventers of political violence and not PDA.
