Nkrumah sowed the seeds of violence in our politics and used it to eliminate his political opponents. This enabled him to create a one party state and made himself president for life because; he was a communist dictator. Nkrumah was already a "comrade" and communist disciple before he arrived in the Gold Coast from London. And as we all know, communists don't have a place for opposition in their system and North Korea is a vivid example. He, therefore, used the multiparty system as a stepping stone to ascend to power cunningly, and then turned around to demolish it step by step to prevent others from ever getting to power democratically through the ballot box.

Our recent political history would explain what I have just said above. When Rawlings usurped power from Dr. Liman in the 80s and lunched his Cuban-Style Communist Dictatorship, there were always attempted coups and rumours of coups until he reinstated the multiparty system and some semblance of democracy in the country. In a multiparty democracy and rule of law, the opposition and all stakeholders wait patiently for their turn to take power democratically, if it is believed and confirmed that the incumbent is not using his position cunningly and unjustifiably to prevent them from coming to power democratically.

It is, therefore, clear that democracy and the rule of law are the only guarantors of peace and preventers of political violence and not PDA.

If, as a politician, you can get your act together, you can sufficiently impress upon the minds, hearts and goodwill of the people to vote for you in winnable quantities. There are many ways to do this but the CPP is certainly not doing any of that because the top decision-making hierarchy of the CPP is manned by either immature comrades or sterile old-school types who have lost all track of time and responsibility.

In spite of the massive and overwhelming goodwill and respect that Kwame Nkrumah still commands - approximately 40 years after his death, the CPP of today has not been able to transform or exploit any of that into a palpable and prolific support base.

Yes, I fully agree with your points regarding the infrastructure and State Institutions that the CPP Government put in place. Critics of President Nkrumah often point out that he was a Dictator and wasted a lot of the country's financial reserves funding Liberation causes in other African countries. However, I challenge any of his critics to provide examples of National Development by Governments since February 1966.
Despite all of the negative qualities of President Nkrumah he led a CPP Government whose record of National Development has never been matched or surpassed over the last 50 years.

A charismatic leader will only come from CPP and Nkrumah,s academy. Corruption is what is killing Ghana and unless Ghanaians refrain from the habit Ghana will always remain standstill. Where are the Nkrumah ideologies, they are all outside Ghana. Bring them back and let them take up positions in the CPP Party and see what a turn around Ghana will be.
