As much as all the totality of the Dumsor problem rests with the Government's Officials, I strongly believe that we need to seriously examine the possibility of sheer sabotage by others who gain in one way or another from such alarming failures of our Power Systems.

No one can defend the Government for its own culpability in the various mismanagements of funds for maintaining and improving the supply and distribution of Power as we have witnessed with TOR and other facilities. But after all the humongous umbrage the Public has taken at the Government, with the latter's likely loss of the next Elections as a result, it is hard to believe that the Government would not do all it could to fix the problems through this very moment. Incompetence alone could not be the cause of the problem.

The Power problems in Ghana are diverse, ranging from consumers' stealing of energy via illegal and clandestine connections to the Grid, fraudulent meter accountability by Electricity Company personnel for kickbacks, to outright pocketing of funds raised from bill collections and earmarks for supply improvement.

But to this far in the long-suffering complaints to the Government, we'd be remiss to ignore that certain elements simply might be sabotaging the efforts of the Government to solve the problems.

Our Security Agencies should have long checked that angle of the cause for the Dumsor. I hope this major failure would be the last for the Nation to resurrect from the long period of darkness and economic doldrums.
