Ashantis will never rent their homes to strangers and sleep in their courtyards. We know for a fact that this is a practice among my Ga friends in Accra. All the same, put tribalism off serious discussions about our nation Ghana, like the above topic. Who will pay homage to a chief that stoops so low to criminals like Sylvester Mensah? Sylvester Mensah paid himself GHC72,000.00=$60,000.00 for rent a year, on the account of the NHIS, after his appointment as the CEO of NHIS. Even in America, this money can pay for a complete house. If a person like Sylvester Mensah will do this to the people of Ghana, where 50% of the population lives under $1.00 a day, including some Ga people in Accra, does this person deserve the sympathy from the Chiefs of the Ga Traditional Council? These chiefs deserves the boot from their stools, and equally get locked up in BNI cells in Ghana! This is the only action that will stop them from selling all the Ga lands to Ashantis.

It is true that Ashanti boys - mostly uneducated ones, shine shoes for a living. They undertake this vocation seriously and make enough money to travel abroad where they make more money to come home and build mansions and establish big businesses.

Our Ga brothers (I am a Ga) on the other hand, are as we speak, sitting at roadside corners playing draught, begging for money from well-to-do friends, drinking akpeteshie and raping young school-girls who they impregnate without caring for them. Such people do not have the moral right to criticize Ashantis who as we all know are generally very hardworking people. Even foreign embassies acknowledge this fact in their intelligence reports.

Gas must be severely criticized as a form of medicine to cure them from their generally lazy, indolent and dirty lifestyle.

With the active encouragement of the NDC, Gas have made illiteracy, squalor, slums and poverty their public trade mark which they seem to be firmly proud of and it is very irritating and unacceptable for some of us.

In the same way that some families have certain characteristics, so also do some tribes have certain characteristics and if unfortunately those characteristics are bad, it must be exposed and criticized.

This nonsense about referring to other people of different ethnic orientation in Accra as foreigners by native Gas must cease forthwith. It is only a mind that has resisted enlightenment and education that can say such things.

At a time when even the more powerful countries who colonized us are uniting to form stronger continental economic blocs, morons amongst us are rather isolating themselves into insignificant microscopic tribal groups only so that they can more equitably share what they steal from govt.

I know for a fact that Ga Chiefs whose specialty is in selling land to multiple buyers, are always broke to the extent that govt always has to provide them with money to buy common cloth to attend public functions.

I am therefore pleasantly surprised that these same Ga Chiefs could mobilize GHC10,000 to give to a suspect who has been accused of robbing the state.

At least I hope that Sylvester Mensah is aware that there is a tax regulation or obligation called "Gift Tax". He should promptly go and pay the required income tax on that amount which the Chiefs/Mahama gave him.

That is exactly what I said before coming to read the interesting comment section of this news story. In as much as I personally want to respect chiefs in Ghana, I will refrain from insults and focus on the person who has rather committed the crime. Yes you are damn right. This guy has probably done a bunch load of stuff for these chiefs we all do not know and can not tell. It is a national issue being addressed. Investigations must be carried out, questions must be asked, other people affiliated must be interrogated and so on. Why are some people so ignorant and do not want to learn? This case must be handled to the full, but I still do not trust the judiciary anymore after key and very important judges in our law-courts have been caught accepting bribes to influence cases. We are watching.

It was only the accounts seized, his assets are stil there. What sort of silly behaviour are our chiefs exhibiting these days. We are slowly getting to the stage when cheiftancy will be disbanded and of no relevance. They should continue along this path. By the way, why should a public officer, who has been invited by the police to give information on some aspects of his work, be treated as though he were an innocent person picked from his home without a court warrant. And for which, some Ga chiefs will act as though there were a collection chiefs from a hamlet. Can't these chiefs realize that by their actions, they are disgracing the Ga State? Why should the visit be brought to the public domain, even if it was deemed to be of a show of 'compassion'. As we debate the reason for Mr. Slyvester Mensah invitation by the police, it has become a known fact that forty nine officials, who worked under him have been interdicted by the government. Has any of the chiefs, not read or being told or heard that the NHIS, which their idol managed for six long years, is virtually on its knees and that millions of cedis have been mis appropriated and service providers not paid for their services? The chiefs may be right to have shown compassion to their idol. They should likewise, be concerned about their subjects, whose lives are endangered, for lack the of money they will need to attend private hospitals, when they fall sick. The chiefs must be reminded however, that the Ghc 10,000.00 they offered is a small change for Slyvester Mensah

He created at least 4 new scheme offices in Greater Accra. Only one new scheme was created in the whole of Ashanti; in Asawase an NDC stronghold.

Ghana is a complete failed state. The Ga Chiefs have set a very dangerous precedent in the history of chieftancy in this country. Its a shame on the institution itself that chiefs would seek to undermine the state and the constitution. Its a sad day for the institution. Mr Mensah was put at the NHIA to superintend and direct affairs by his own Government. Various audits conducted by Government revealed troubling issues. Upon investigation, it became clear that he has a case to answer. An institution that should be working with Government and society to correct social ills runs to a suspect with money for his upkeep. Its that kind of mindset that has plagued the Ga state and its undesirable chieftancy affairs. I am ashamed and scandalized. Where is KB Asante??? Was the respected statesman's input sought? Being the Secretary to the Traditional council? You have forever lost our collective respect!!
