At the beginning, NDC did not accepted that there was any mistake in the voters' register, and even said it was the cleanest, most credible and ready for use in the 2016 elections. However, after the stakeholders' overwhelming agreement that there were flaws in the register, coupled with the tangible proofs presented by NPP proving that the register was indeed bloated and tainted with all kinds of flaws, the NDC party realized it can no longer cling to the malicious denials. And instead of calling for a new register, it has rather asked the EC to make cosmetic changes to the register in a way that will still allow them to rig the elections without tears.

It is not really the fact that Ayarigah comports himself like a disruptive comedian that we must be worried about.

From the superficial knowledge that I have about the electoral laws of this country, a political party must have proper offices and constituency executives in all or most of the 275 constituencies country-wide before it can be registered.

Now I do not think that between the time that Ayarigah contested for and lost the Presidential slot in the PNCs primaries last month and now, when he has suddenly decided to resign from that party about a week ago, he has within this short span of time managed to conjure all these logistics, Regional executives, constituency executives, polling station executives and so on and so forth. This involves very hard and expensive work that would normally take a more established political party about a whole year to accomplish.

To be fair, even those so-called better established political parties that have been in existence for decades, cannot put their hands to hearts and swear that they have fully satisfied the full complement of all those electoral requirements.

If the EC has out of its incompetence allowed that to happen in the past, it does not mean that it should allow more jokers to infiltrate an already wobbly electoral system. Giving this roadside jester a Provisional certificate reduces the whole electoral climate in Ghana to a farce.

I think the EC has again - or should I say that, the EC is about to fail us again. I dont trust that new woman who has been put at the helm of affairs there by a notorious person such as John Dramani Mahama, himself a non-performing asset. The woman does not look serious, she doesnt talk like a serious person and she has not acted like a serious person since her appointment. This last Ayarigah straw confirms that she does not know what she is doing in that office.
