The E.C itself has admitted the register is bloated. It is only the Loot and Share Criminals in power, and their communication dogs who, out of criminal intent, deliberately argue otherwise. What some of us find it difficult to comprehend is the E.Cs entrenched position which has overruled the posibility of providing a fresh voter register which could Play a noble role of assuring the citizenry a free and fair elections. The idea of the EC board to have the existing one cleaned up is very mischievous especially as the chair of the board has since failed to tell us how the clean up exercise is gonna be executed. For her warning, the Baby EC boss should wean herself off the whims and caprices of these criminals in power for the good of her precious life and , in fact, her entire Ghana-Nigeria extended families. Arm twisting will never be accepted in this years general elections.

It is 1.3 million over-bloated assuming all qualified voters are registered but we all know usually between 75%-85% qualified voters do register to vote so the over-bloated voters are close to two million(2m) voters.
It doesn't seem to me like the voters register is going to be changed so Npp and other opposition parties should be vigilant and recruit people who cannot be compromised by fifty cedes note by Ndc to be their agents and guide the ballot box with eagle eyes.
Charlotte Osei is already compromised by Ndc stolen loot but she has to be really careful not to do anything foolish.

I think we have a poor comprehension of the English language. If one earns a salary 10% higher than the national average does that make it an anomaly? Please give me a break. Average means there are higher but also lower values. At school after a test some people get 80% others get 25%. The former get 'excellent' and the latter 'poor' as remark.
Another gets 45% and receives - 'AVERAGE' as remark. This is another interpretation of the word.
There could be other reasons to suspect fraud in the Voters' Register but any suggestion of fraud based on the 10% higher than the African average is an insult on the intelligence of all educated Ghanaians.

At the beginning, NDC did not accepted that there was any mistake in the voters' register, and even said it was the cleanest, most credible and ready for use in the 2016 elections. However, after the stakeholders' overwhelming agreement that there were flaws in the register, coupled with the tangible proofs that were presented by NPP, proving that the register was indeed bloated and tainted with all kinds of flaws, the NDC party realized it can no longer cling to the malicious denials. And instead of calling for a new register, it has rather asked the EC to make cosmetic changes to the register in a way that will still allow them to rig the elections without tears.

The main point on the analysis which you illiterate failed to grasp is the 52% of the 25 million people as qualified registered voters which the analyst said is over 10% normal in Africa. What that means is that, the average registered voters in Africa is normally 42% of the whole population.
Let's even go with your illiterate logic that the numbers quoted here was after the 2012 elections and some minors in 2012 have become eligible. You are not going to get 1.3 million voters in four years from people who have become eligible. In four years, the voters register should not increase more than 4% using voters data from 1992 to 2008. It was only between 2008 to 2012 that the voters register increased about 10%.
For example, in the Ellembele constituency in Western region, from 2004 to 2008, the voters in this constituency increased by only 500 to 16,000 plus but between 2008 to 2012, the voters register in this constituency increased by a whopping 11,000 to over 27,000 voters which is impossible when no refugee camp or new companies have been opened there to bring new employees from other areas of Ghana.

The truth of the matter is that the number of ghost names and minors in the electoral register is a lot bigger. According to the 2010 population census, Ghana had a total population of 25,758,108 in 2010. Out of that total, 13,632,299 were aged 18 and above, and therefore eligible to vote. And as the British paper rightly inferred, the highest percentage registration in Africa has been attained by South Africa at 47%. No democratic country in the world registers even 50% of its eligible voters.
Therefore even if you assume a generous 50% for Ghana, the EC should only have 6,816,150 on its books and not the 14.8 million Mrs Charlotte Osei is defending. It is in our collective interest to correct this gross misuse of national resources in producing such a contentious and shameful register for national elections.
As it is, there will be a lot of battles at the polling stations in November, especially if the EC insists on allowing voters with any kind of identification document to vote. If we are not going to have a new register, then the opposition parties should insist on “biometric only” identification, and that is where the trouble is going to start from!

Your analogy with 'Parents and Children at School' is weak and bogus. First off, former Colonial Nations are not the 'parents' of the freed former Colonies to expect that the Colonial masters still retain any controlling Rights over the latter. The parent-child relationship has certain legal boundaries that most people around the World abide by, and various Constitutions of Nations uphold, that cannot be found or justified under the relationship between former Colonial masters and their former Colonies. So, learn harder, Sarpong, to correctly identify the subtleties between the two sets of relationships.
Secondly, before any charitable entity could demand the compliance of the recipient entity to any restrictions by the donor, those restrictions ought to be first agreed upon as a precondition for that donation to be taken.
Donors do not jump in at midstream to demand of the recipient any restrictions they come up with later. However, donors reserve the right to either continue to support that program or not, if they think the donations are not being used for the purposes intended. So, even the intended purpose of the donation would become a precondition before the donation goes out.
Now, coming back to former Colonial Masters and freed Nations from their subjugation, it has been amply argued that the damage that the Colonial Masters caused the former Colonies still hurt these former Colonies, and that the former masters are still, at least, in part, beholden to the continued efforts by the former Colonies to get out of poverty. The area of governance is what is deemed to be farther removed from that expectation.
But, even if we cannot accept that premise to justify asking the Colonial masters for free assistance, the fact that these Colonial Masters have joined together to set up global Economic and Political conditions that keep constraining the former Colonies from developing naturally compels us to seek such free assistance from them every now and then.
So, without excusing our own unforgivable mistakes, including corruption, tribalism, nepotism, and bigotry, in particular, there is nothing wrong in asking for free help from the Colonial Masters without expecting the forfeiture of our Rights and dignity.

Look Sarpong the flaws in the voters Register is an open secret so we Ghanaians don't need any lectures on that subject from anybody that it is bloated. The problem is how to find solutions or resolve it.
Yes the database needs to be updated and cleaned up to mitigate double entries but it is mischievous if not political expediency on the part of NPP and it's numerous offshoots to ambush the flaws in the voters registers and act as if it is a matter of do or die; come hell or high water. That is reckless and disingenuous!
Sarp, mind you Ghana does not revolve around NPP so without any broadly accepted consensus, the opinions of NPP and affiliates cannot be forced down the throat of all Ghanaians. This attitude of NPP - it is neck or nothing must cease.
Now to your superficial and very off-hand statement as to why UK or EU support our budget; I would want to bring you up to speed on this matter. Ghana and the rest of colonies in Africa were supporting and financing the budget of various European colonialists before the turn of the tables in there favour. Africa was their financing bank so to say.
Sarpong, if you want to see this evidence first hand please visit the Tower Hill or the British Museum whenever you are in London. Clearly, a cursory glance of the nearly 30 forts and castles in Ghana traces their origins back into the 15th centuries of countries like Portugal, Spain, Holland, Danmark, Sweden, UK, Germany (Germans from Brandenburg who had a trading post in the western region namely fort Gross Friedrichsburg near Princes town.
Sarpong, one cannot put figures on how much all these nations mentioned above looted without permission over a period of over 500 years in Ghana alone. Now spread that over Africa and the rest of Latin America and Asia. Go figure! Maybe it is the caprice of fate that has put us where we are.

The West is being asked to pay Africa $777 thousand billion within five years in reparation for enslaving Africans while colonising the continent.
Co-Chairperson Debra Kofie: We feel the figure is very fair
The African World Reparations and Repatriation Truth Commission, meeting in Accra for its first international conference, also called for all international debt owed by Africa to be "unconditionally cancelled''.
The Accra Declaration issued at the conference says that money will be demanded from ''all those nations of Western Europe and the Americas and institutions, who participated and benefited from the slave trade and colonialism''.
Repatriation and reparation
The conference, co-chaired by Dr Hamet Maulana and Mrs Debra Kofie, announced plans to set up an international team of lawyers from Africa and the diaspora to pursue all legal means to collect the money.
The group will also be contacting the International Court of Justice, as well as the United Nations and the Organization of African Unity for assistance.
Mrs Kofie told the BBC the reparation figure was based on the number of human lives lost to Africa during the slave-trade, as well as an assessment of the worth of the gold, diamonds and other minerals taken from the continent during colonial rule.
She says Africa's turn has come. "We are the only group that have not received reparations. The Jewish people have received reparations. The native Americans have received reparations. The Korean comfort women and so-on and so forth," she said.
The declaration added that all those in the diaspora, who want to return and settle in Africa, should be allowed to do so and that those who enslaved and colonised Africa should provide seaworthy vessels and aircraft for such repatriation.
Between 1450 and 1850, it is estimated that at least 12 million Africans and probably many more were shipped from Africa across the Atlantic Ocean, primarily to colonies in North America, South America, and the West Indies.
The United States has never formally apologised for its participation in the slave trade.
A further 20 million slaves are estimated to have been exported to other parts of the world, in particular the Middle East and North Africa, over a similar time period.
Contrary to widespread belief, slavery is still practised in some parts of Africa, including Sudan and West Africa.

David Cameron has ruled out making reparations for Britain's role in the historic slave trade and urged Caribbean countries to "move on".
The prime minister acknowledged that "these wounds run very deep" during his visit to Jamaica, where he faced calls to apologise from campaigners.
He said Britain's role in wiping slavery "off the face of our planet" should be remembered.
Jamaican PM Portia Simpson Miller said she had raised the issue in talks.
'Obvious sensitivities'
Addressing MPs in Jamaica's parliament, Mr Cameron said slavery was "abhorrent in all its forms".
He added: "I do hope that, as friends who have gone through so much together since those darkest of times, we can move on from this painful legacy and continue to build for the future."
Mr Cameron also announced £25m in British aid for a new Jamaican prison and a £300m development package for the Caribbean which will provide grants for infrastructure projects, including roads and bridges.
He said his visit - the first by a British prime minister in 14 years - was to "reinvigorate" ties between the countries, and that he wanted to concentrate on future relations rather than centuries-old issues.
Mrs Simpson Miller said while she was "aware of the obvious sensitivities", Jamaica was "involved in a process under the auspices of the Caribbean Community [Caricom] to engage the UK on the matter".
During Mr Cameron's speech, a small group of protesters with placards that read "reparations now" gathered outside parliament.

While Prime Minister David Cameron is keen to send criminals back to Jamaica to serve their sentences, Jamaicans want to talk about the wrongs of Britain's past.
The state of Jamaica's prison system has long been a source of international embarrassment for the island. Medical care is poor and there is serious overcrowding.
But more important to Jamaicans is the news that the British government will invest tens of millions in vital infrastructure in the Caribbean to help drive economic growth and create jobs.
The issue of reparation for Britain's involvement in slavery has been the mosquito in the ointment for Mr Cameron.
There have been calls from the Jamaican government to make financial amends and apologise.
No apology from him, but instead an acknowledgement about the impact that slavery has had.
Mr Cameron wanted this visit to be about the future - but Jamaica certainly can't forget the past.
The issue of former slave-owning nations compensating former colonies is a contentious one in the Caribbean, where national commissions have calculated the sums could run into trillions of dollars.
One suggestion has been that the money could be provided in the form of debt relief.
Mrs Simpson Miller told the United Nations in 2013 there should be "an international discussion in a non-confrontational manner" and its parliament had passed a motion backing reparations.
One Jamaican MP, Mike Henry, threatened to boycott Mr Cameron's speech at the country's parliament if he did not engage on the issue.

For more than 200 years Britain was at the heart of a lucrative transatlantic trade in millions of enslaved Africans.
According to ship records it is estimated about 12.5 million people were transported as slaves from Africa to the Americas and the Caribbean - to work in often brutal conditions on plantations - from the 16th century until the trade was banned in 1807.
In 1833, Britain emancipated its enslaved people and raised the equivalent of £17bn in compensation money to be paid to 46,000 of Britain's slave-owners for "loss of human property". University College London has compiled a database of those compensated.
Among those listed is General Sir James Duff, who it is claimed is a first cousin six times removed of David Cameron. He was awarded compensation worth about £3m in today's terms.
Others who received compensation include the ancestors of novelists George Orwell and Graham Greene, as well as distant relatives of Arts Council chairman Sir Peter Bazalgette and celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott.
Campaigners also called on Mr Cameron to make a personal apology, saying one of his own ancestors was paid compensation for the loss of his slaves in 1834.
Bert Samuels, a member of Jamaica's National Commission on Reparations, told Television Jamaica "he needs to atone, to apologise personally and on behalf of his country".
Sir Hilary Beckles, chairman of Caricom's reparations commission, wrote in an open letter in the Jamaica Observer that the UK must "play its part in cleaning up this monumental mess of Empire".

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who lived in Jamaica for two years in his youth, said that, as prime minister, he would be ready to apologise for the slave trade.
Speaking at Labour's annual conference in Brighton, Mr Corbyn said it was "the most brutal part of our history and the history of Jamaica".
During his two-day visit, Mr Cameron revealed the UK will spend £25m on building a prison in Jamaica so that foreign criminals in the UK can be sent home to serve sentences in the Caribbean.
More than 600 Jamaican nationals are in UK jails but cannot be deported because of Jamaica's poor prison conditions.
Officials say the foreign aid-funded deal could save taxpayers £10m a year when transfers begin in 2020.
The Howard League for Penal Reform criticised the plan, saying it was "the wrong use of foreign aid" and would fail to address the real issue of overcrowding in British prisons.

Is the report by the British asserting that our Voters' Register is 10% over-bloated or 10% above average in eligible voters?
The infrastructure in each African Country for organizing Elections differs widely, so the standard deviation by some on the fringes could be large. That does not necessarily make their data that hugely wrong.
We should be precise in interpreting such crucial pieces of information that could ill-affect our national Peace and have Diplomatic repercussions harmful to both the British and Ghana.
Given that the EC has conceded there could be errors in the Register the question we need to answer is whether it is possible to clean the Register of all illegal and duplicate registrants or not. It is only when such cleansing is impossible that recreating the Register from the very beginning becomes imperative. If the Register could be cleaned without recreation, all the NPP, and, of course, the other Opposition Parties, need to do is to bring all its resources at its disposal, even if its allied overseas Governments would assist, to work with the EC to clean the Register.
If the British even finds the Register over-bloated, why would they overlook the possibility of cleaning the errors rather than recreating the Register?
Meanwhile, how did the British arrive at their conclusion? And did they reach out to the Ghanaian Government to discuss the issue before replying to the Group in what seems to be an agreeable tone with it?
How much of the British response to the Group could be deemed by critics as interference in Ghana's internal Political climate? We must not allow such patronizing attitude to become a norm in our relationship with our former Colonial Masters or any other Nation for that matter.
The above questions are very important ones we need to address, since their answers could have long-term reverberations down the line, no matter who wins the Elections in Ghana this year.
We should be careful how we undercut our Independence by crawling back to the British for resolving inter-Partisan disagreements, without first exhausting local avenues to resolve such conflicts. We should acknowledge that the Group failed to take its case to the Courts, or our Parliament to see how the matter could be resolved without foreign intervention.
If the British simply wants to play an honest broker, their mediation ought to have been discussed with the Ghanaian Government before offering such a response to the Group citing data that could be indecisive.

Mr Attah-Krufi, perhaps I will ask you to inform the British government to get its voter register up to date before poking its nose into Ghana's voter register issues. You are a UK resident and you know what goes on here. I have lived in the UK for some 30 years during which time the UK has never conducted an exercise to compile a register as has been done in Ghana. What I have seen done is that regular mail outs are sent to all residential addresses during election years with names of people who may be resident there for confirmation if such people are still living there. All you have to do is return the form or go online and delete names that are no longer resident there or confirm those who are still living there. There are many instances where people have not returned these forms or did nothing about them and come elections poling cards are sent to all the names at the address whether they are still living there or not, whether they are still in the UK or not. In my opinion the UK register is the most bloated in the world. It contains the names of all commonwealth citizens who are resident in the UK and have an address. So the UK does not have a moral right to comment on Ghana's register by using some doggy formula to calculate the number of those eligible to vote.

The adage you gave was inappropriately applied. A beggar has no choice only in the sense that he or she cannot control what the giver offers. That implicit constraint is local only to what the giver wants to give, and whether or not the beggar could go without it. So, if the giver attaches any strings to the offer that the beggar deems too overburdening, the beggar reserves the right to take it or leave it, given how desperate the beggar wants the alms.
In our case, we haven't gone begging the British for anything that is so direly needed that we should take any undue controls from them lying down.
Besides, the case of the Voters Register has not seen the Ghana Government running to the Brits for their assistance for them to dictate to us what we have to do and how.
You could argue their intervention in a better way than this. What you have offered so far in supporting their intervention is shallow and sophomoric.
Sarpong, you seem to be trying too hard to claim some intellectual recognition. Unfortunately, your propensity to resort to personal insults and dehumanizing disparaging remarks expose your brittle loutishness that pins you down for a snide intellectual. Why don't you stop calling others illiterate while you don't portray any intellectualism yourself? Because folks do not agree with your single point of view, you characterize them as illiterate? You typify those who have tainted the NPP with impish arrogance. Cut it out, and focus on relevant facts.

Ghana hasn't gone begging the British for help on our Voters Register palaver to be compelled to take whatever the Brits dump on us as their solution. And in terms of our general relationship with the UK, we do not have subordinate our Nation to her anymore. Therefore, any interactions between the two Nations ought to be at par, and on the basis of mutual respect and dignity.
Even if we had gone asking the UK for financial assistance and she imposed any conditionality for that aid, we would still retain the right and freedom to take or reject it. We are not in dire straits to go sell our soul for a return to imperialist subjugation.

It is folks like him who keep wishing we were still under Colonization, and want us to go back to prostrate ourselves before the British throne to be re-colonized. He does not even understand the universal principle behind giving and receiving charity.
The fact that we would even beg for free money from any Country does not give her the right to impose on us to demean us. We do not sell our rights for free money, even though our dignity may suffer to some extent in certain cases.
Even on individual personal level, when someone asks you for free money, it does not mean you are invited to impose your ideas on that person, no matter what you may think of that person.
Surely, the platitudinous reaction of most of us to requests by others for free stuff is doubting the eligibility of the beggars, and asking: 'why don't they find their own sources of sustenance?'
The next thing we tend to do after that is assuming the beggar is either lazy, a con artist, or unintelligent enough to know how to survive on his or her own. On the surface, it appears that we would be doing the only right thing by assuming all these negative attributes about the beggar...
Some would not give to the beggar based on what they may conclude from those assumptions. However, the realities that drive most to give are not exactly what those assumptions tend to show in most instances.
Without going into details of what factors may need to be considered in such cases, I would say that it behooves the giver not to intrude upon the beggar's rights even when offering something. Demeaning the beggar in anyway would be counterproductive, both in encouraging self-resourcefulness in the beggar, and fulfilling the giver's charitable principles.
I hope Sarpong could understand this simple lesson in giving and receiving charity.
There is even a certain ironic twist in the case of Nations and their former Colonial subjugators that I doubt Sarpong's acumen could handle.
So, let's leave it at that, for the moment.
All the above does not mean in anyway to minimize the responsibility of the beggar to do better to be self-sufficient.

Were they sleeping or what. Ghost cannot vote, so i entreat all political party pooling agents to be vigilant on voting day and stop all these reselling of our sovereingnty. I bet you Ghana has one of the most transparent electoral system in the world. Transparent ballot boxes, shown to be empty to those present when voting is to commence, all votes counted, recorded and certified as correct with all party agents endorsing. Perhaps those who have ever helped some parties to steal votes can help all of us by explaining when on earth they stuff the boxes with already tumbprinted ballot papers or add some ballots during counting in glaring eyes of all who care to be present, or bribe returning officers to add zeros or whatever figures in transit without compromising the number of eligible voters at a particular pooling station or what and what and what. Mind you most loosing parties in elections normally cry foul immediately their own checks reveal they are loosing. They immediately begin to change their theory the moment they see their chances brightening. Pleeeease let's have some peace in our dear mother Ghana
