Member of the Public Accounts Committee, Adwoa Osei Asare, has cast doubt over the ability of the Attorney General to retrieve GHc1.9 million excess money paid to Smartty management, the company that branded the 116 buses.
The Chief of Staff directed the Attorney General to retrieve the money after investigations into the issue which has cost the job of Transport Minister, Dzifa Ativor.
Abena Osei Asare, who is also the Member of Parliament for Atiwa East in the Eastern region told Joy News, a similar directive to the Attorney General to retrieve money paid to RLG and Zoomlion under GYEEDA informs her conviction the latest directive will not achieve much.
“Ghanaians are not impressed. See Woyome, Isofoton and all the others, all these recoveries were backed by law but ask yourself, has the AG been able to recover even one-tenth of the amount? No. This time, it is not even backed by anything legal so I have my doubt as to whether they can recover the money,” the MP said.
She warned that violations of the Public Procurement Act will continue until government starts to implement recommendations of the public accounts committee.

THIS IS WHERE NDC THIEVEY IS TAKING GHANA TO....Two officials at the Keta Government Hospital have been found to have stolen GH?576,000 from the hospital’s internally generated funds meant to buy drugs and other logistics to serve the Keta Community.
The revelations were made at Parliament's Public Accounts Committee sitting Thursday where audited accounts of the Health Ministry were examined.
Mr. Asilenudzi Hayford and his assistant Mr. Francis Dagbale altered 96 signed cheques by changing the original figures and words on the already signed cheques.
Through this method, they managed to withdraw higher amounts than originally indicated on the cheques.
The shocking fraud occurred between January 2010 and May 2011.
After an audit found GH?264,000 to have been unaccounted for, further checks into the expenses in 2010 showed a shortfall of another GH? 312,000.
Management has had a very difficult time trying to retrieve the monies. Although Francis Dagbale was prosecuted, a judge ordered that they refund 25,000 or face a 10-year jail sentence.
They paid the fine with cheeky ease, parliament was told to the shocking reaction of MPs.
Management of the hospital says they are struggling to institute a civil action against the two officials and have been left frustrated by the courts and the Attorney-General’s department.
"We are supposed to go to court again to a civil case to retrieve the money but we couldn't get the Attorney-General to do that for us. We have written to the state attorneys, no response has come. They only call us to say they are busy" officials of the hospital told Parliament

The NDC did not have a choice in all the three examples given by Ablakwa.
Ho because the regional hospital and the biggest health facility in the region is sited in Ho. It therefore made sense to site the university there because it will train nurses and medical doctors.
Sunyani because the School of Forestry was already there and provided the needed infrastructure for the University of Natural Resources.
UMAT at Tarkwa because there was Tarkwa School of Mines established there for years and that also provided the infrastructure for the UMAT.
In view of the explanations above which are supporting Hon Atta Akyea's position, this university should be sited at Bunso because there is a university there already whose objectives are the same as the proposed university at Somanya.
Politics is the reason why Somanya was selected instead of Bunso to hurt Nana Akufo Addo. Ablakwa also talks about Donkokrom. So in all deliberations, Bunso was never considered by NDC government. What is in Donkokrom to establish a university there? Did the NDC consider Kade which is also suited for the university because there are resources already there? Why only places NDC wins big?
And now the NDC is politicizing it to create the impression that Atta Akyea is peaking against Krobos.
NDC is so evil they will do or say anything to divide Ghana on tribal lines.

The "Sunrise" Region, where I also have most of my roots, is a 'potpouri' of all the tribes/ethnics in Ghana. The majority of the citizens, especially in the Metropolis, are of mixed ancestry.

I love Somanya; however, Koftown, the regional capital, would be the ideal place for the main campus. This would calm all nerves. If the main campus remains in Somanya then there should be at least five significant campuses spread 'evenly' across the region.
To all intents and purposes Krobos/Adangbes, Ewes etc, and Akyems/Kwahus/Akuapems/NJs etc have lived in harmony for a very long time. EVEN SIBLINGS HAVE RIVALRY!!!
