    Kwame this is a contribution to the debate. The devaluation of the currencey is not the way forward for Ghana.This is because devaluation is for manufacturing based economy.

    Devaluation would mean people's salaries would buy less goods so they would be poorer, the worst hit would be farmers, fishermen and other commodity producers who are already underpaid for their hard work.

    Especially if importers will need to pay more for their goods and so will need to shift costs onto consumers. In a country like Ghana where almost everything is imported that is BAD NEWS.

    We are an importing based economy, and devaluing the cedi would be catastrophic. Devaluing works for high capacity producers like china.

    If the government and its appointees stop stealing from the nation's coffers, the cedi would definitely stabilize. They should stop the corruption and the value of the cedi will rise.
