Also, The numerical strength of the Police Service has improved from 23,204 in 2012 to 32,117 in 2014 resulting in a current Police Population Ratio (PPR) of 1:724 as against 1:1,100 in 2010. This has brought Ghana closer to the United Nations benchmark of 1:500 (PPR). We must trust in our security agencies and equally be vigilant

It is unfortunate how desperate we have become to want to serve our parochial interest than what borders on National Interest.

We appear to be a people who desperately are waiting to chance on any given opportunity to do our usual politricking. But this time, Chairman Wontumi has failed in this attempt!

Yes admittedly, the President is responsible for the security of the entire nation, but again not individuals.

I do not think it is the duty of the President to tell us to contract private security per the caliber of person an individual is and deals with.

Interestingly, it is this same NPP that complained sometime ago when gov't made serious investment into equipping the Security agencies.

Some of the NPP communicators termed it a mis-prioritization. How on earth can this SAME NPP be calling on the President to do more to resource the Police again?

This is hypocrisy at it highest level.

The examples of some deaths you claimed to have been recorded this year however are just examples of exception to the general rule of the President being the guard for the entire nation.

With the manner of persons and individuals we deal with in our every day lives, it only goes to say that, we as individuals are the greatest shareholders of " HOW SECURE WE ARE."

Your everyday dealings are Your private issues, so must your personal and individual security be a thing that you should as an individual be so much concern about and if the need be, a priority.

On a lighter side, I should agree that the President have in a way been kidding with the security needs of the nation so to say.

But for this, ill-characters like Chairman Wontumi should have been in police custody by now.

Others like Atta Kyea and Kennedy Agyapong wouldn't have been spared either.

Maybe, the extreme the President would go is to even arrest and prosecute the NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo for certain ill placed statements made in the past which were all threats to the peace we enjoy as a nation.

Ghana is watching!

We should rather be concerned with how to ensure maximum security for our MPs and not to play the blame game by attacking the president and wishing him dead (Mahama is next). Most of these assailants killing people and attacking them at gun point are being prosecuted. The recent death of MP for Aboakwa north is equally being investigated to bring the perpetrators to book. JDM is concerned about the security and safety of his people. That's why he has presented vehicles to the security services to enable them discharge their duties effectively. The Ashanti Regional police recently retrieved 100s of weapons from some individuals in the Ashanti Region and are bring prosecuted.

The security services are being ewuiped an provided with more vehicles to carry out their mandate. Night patrol has equally improved . there is ongoing community policing programme and police visibility programmes to ensure security. However, there is more room for improvement. So let's come up with realistic ideas as to how we can improve upon our security system to prevent more people being killed by assaisalants .

From Ya Na and 40 others, to Roko Frimpong, GBC Deputy Manager of Operations, a retired PWD worker shot in Tema in broad day light, a chief shot in Ashanti region while bathing, Fire was opened on people of Techiman celebrating a festival leading to the death of four in broad daylight, etc, all these did not make Ghana unsafe. For once, let us leave out politics out of murder investigations, and allow the police to dig deep and arrest the culprits who are just mere criminals. That is what happens in other jurisdictions. Arrest the killers and damn the consequences. Wontumi who choses and picks what he likes to condemn can continue displaying his stupidity.
