How can a President talk about killing somebody not because the person has raped his daughter but because her daughter is below the age of 18.

But many of us think whether or not it was a misspeak, it has the potential to stir up a false sense of justification in others who may confront similar problems with resort to lethal reaction, ignoring the Rule of Law for seeking redress. I don't think you would want anyone to claim he or she took a cue from your statement to kill anyone on this issue.

As much as the act of marrying off a child is criminally devious and needs to be abolished, we must not encourage anyone taking the Law into his or her own hands to inflict a fatal blow to perceived or even established culprits.

Meanwhile, it is the parents who initiate or see the process through. So, any deserving punishment would go to the father or mother or any legal guardian responsible for that crime.

But I would humbly request that you do not have to wait to be personally confronted with such a problem to take any action to discontinue it. Many children continue to suffer that cruel behavior from imposing adults from their own families. You and all decent Ghanaians must act now. Promptly! Your Christian morals must even be more forceful in seeing the abolishment of that practice. The crime is one instance of Child cruelty and enslavement.

If you could lead the Parliament to enact the necessary laws to prohibit that outmoded, wicked and unjust custom, and provide the budgetary facility to fully implement those laws, you and the rest of the Citizenry outside the Courts would not have to shoulder the burden of meting fitting punishment to the culprits. And our children and grandchildren would be safe to grow up to maturity and exercise their natural right to choose for themselves who their life-partners would be.
