somebody for our problems,People either by nature,are different to us or people from the other side of the road,People with a different believe,different skin colour,gender,Sometimes even the language we speak or the way we think,makes us different and therefore the reason for someones problems.Even Jesus Christ was at one point the reason people gave for their problems,and i have no doubt a lot of christians today would have been in that crowd calling for his head.So we humans have always discriminated and blamed everybody but ourselves for the reason for our woes,even if this peoples life style or what they do,what makes them different to us have absolutely no strain on our lives.Someone had to take the blame for us to feel better about ourselves so where there is no one to blame,we blame the devil.We've seen it so many times in human history but we refuse to learn,and when we do finally learn,its always the hard way.Its unbelievable how much time we spend hurting and persecuting people due to our own lack of knowledge.From the slaughtering of the Jews by the Nazis,who blamed them for all Germanys problems and thought the only solution was to banish them from the surface of the earth,to the slave trade where Africans were forcefully taken away from their family and friends and everything they know to work in the sugar farms in the carribean,The suffering those slaves went through was unimaginable,yet most of this slave masters were devout christians who believed in the bible.They prayed to God everyday but never really seen anything ungodly with slavery at the time,And to justify their evil deeds,they argued that africans are inferior,that Africans have no soul,that Africans are just a little bit more intelligent than domestic animals and could be enslaved.Same as apathy in South Africa,where south african blacks were striped off their citizenship,becoming slaves on their own land,persecuted and discriminated against because of the colour of their skin,the few who had the guts to fight for equal rights for all were deemed terrorist,tracked down and killed or put behind bars.Considering throughout our history,we've been discriminated against and treated like animals because of who we are,because of what we are naturally.From the days of colonialism to the civil right movement in America,Having been at the recieving end of all this inequalities and prejudice,one would have thought We Africans would know better how it feels like to be rejected and discriminated against,to be harrassed and torchered,to be abused or treated like a second class citizen or subhumans.You would think we would have learnt to accept all people however different they may be to us.This hatred of people different from us is not just lack of education,poverty and ignorant because some of the educated elite and religious leaders in society are the main perpetraters.The people suppose to fight on our behave for fairness and equality.the people suppose to be the voice of the voiceless and the vulnerable,the people suppose to ensure freedom for the oppressed and the weak.the champions of peace and love,they seems to be the ones fueling the hate campaign.All over europe and America,black people have fought prejudice,inequality and racism and still do but yet discrimination and tribalism in Africa itself is so rife.discrimination against disable people,tribal discrimination and the latest is Gay people and the ignorance of Africans towards people who are Gay.To think people choose to be Gay is backwards thinking,very dangerous and misleading especially when its the educated elite,religious leaders and people in power orchastrating it.Nobody can claim to be Gay when he or she is not and no amount of abuse,killing,prayers or therapy could make a Gay person straight.Been Gay is not something you learn to do.Some parents of Gay people have said they suspected their son or daughter of been different as early as 4years old.Even though this children are innocent,even thou this children do not know anything about sex or sexual attraction,their behavior and character is more of the opposite sex.How do you change something that is embeded in you naturally?you cant change the race you are born into and surely It cant be Gods way to be prejudice towards nature!If you dont feel anything sexual towards your same sex,then you dont,and nothing would ever change that.If you are a heterosexual man and you love your women,nothing would ever make you find another man attractive sexually.The idea that straight men and women would begin to [practice] homosexuality is just stupidity to say the least.A lot of African educated elite claim homosexuality was something from the west,it is not our culture but homosexuality is not a culture niether is it a practice.If culture is the way a group of people live,and if we really serious about maintaining our culture,we should be looking at resisting all the modern technology coming from the west.All these gaghets we cant seem to get enough of today have never been part of our African culture.but today,even the remotest places in africa cant do without technology so nothing is going to stand on the way of globalization and progress,no brakes is strong enough to stop the free fall of globalization,so refusing to accept the truth is just a delay of the inevitable.A delay that would see innocent men and womens lives destroyed by something that would cease to be a crime in the next generation and beyond.Homosexuality is nature and have always been there,going far back in history.If the west brought anything at all,it was homophobia,by the early missionaries who brought christianity.Throughout African history,theres been records of homosexuality.From the khoikhoi people in the south,siwa people in the north and the pangwe and the nzima people in the east and west respectively.Just like in the west where it took a long time for homosexuals to come out due to fear of persecution,African Gays are no exception.We see homosexuality as a problem and we blame the west for it but theres a lot we could learn from the west.The world has become so smaller today than it used to be.Thirty years ago it was taking 2 to 4 months to communicate by post across the continents,today just a stroke of a button on a mobile phone and you could be speaking to somebody far away in some remote village.There is so many forms of communication today,the world has become a global village.so people are more aware of what is going on in the world around them more than anytime in human history.Africans dont only depend on the educated elite for information anymore.neither do they have to travel abroad to get informed.unlike our fore-fathers who fought for our independent,many it was only coming back from fighting along side the british in the second world war that they felt they were just as good as the white man.Today there is internet everywhere and there is social media.In the past,most homosexuals spend their whole life living a liar,forced to get married to the opposite sex because they are made to believe that been a homosexual is not normal.Its only an odd person who can say for sure that he or she is normal.A lot of homosexuals going through their whole life without a single mention of what they really are and what they really feel.Whiles straight people are going about their so called normal lives,homosexuals in Africa are having sleepless nights with no one to turn to.Many have never known peace or freedom in their lives,the feeling of no sky above or earth below.It is a very bad feeling knowing that people would never understand what you are going through.not even your friends or family,or your parents,The imagination of the horror on their face hearing that their only son or daughter is Gay alone is enough to keep living a lie.Homosexuality is not a practice or a choice,the more we classed it as a practice,the less we'll understand it.the more we think about it as a choice the more angry we'll be.If it was a choice many african homosexuals would switch to been heterosexual in a heartbeat.nobody wants to willingly take the amount of homophobia,discrimination, harrassment and abuse that goes hand in hand with been gay in Africa and all over the world so coming out is a very brave thing to do and my heart goes out to all homosexuals in Africa and indeed all over the world,they'll much rather be hated for what they are than loved for something they are not.this are brave men and women.Amist all the homophobia,they chose to be who they are and not who society wants them to be,they are inspiration to the african continent.We have been told by the African educated elite that homosexuality is a mental disorder and can be cured but the real mental disorder is claiming to be able to cure it.It is an illusion to think homosexuality can be cured,its like trying to change the colour of the skin from black to white or vice versa,its just not possible.Many spiritual leaders,doctors and therapist who claim to be able to do so over the years accross the globe through some appauling and sometimes inhumane means have come to the conclusion that not only does it lead to nowhere,not only is it a very harmful and very depressing proceedure to be put through,it is also impossible,unnecessary and ineffective.Suppression of homosexual feelings is a very inhuman thing to do.It doesnt create heterosexual attraction,it only creates extreme depression,anxiety and post-traumatic stress and deprives the person of the ability for any kind of sexual response.Today,due to globalisation and the awareness brought about by technology,Gay people in Africa know they dont have to live a liar anymore,they'll rather live in fear than live a liar and so we see the Gay community growing very rapidly.It is an acknowledge fact that Africa is full of so many religious groups with different believes and cultures but most of these countries are not theocratic,they are not ruled by religious laws.It is because of the differences in religious and cultural believes why we have democracy,tolerating every religion,every culture and the diversity all under one roof so as no one is forced to follow any one religion or culture,we are all different so lets celebrate our diversity.[christians excuse for homophobia]Freedom of worship is pivotal to Democracy,so is respect for human rights.A lot of African educated elite and religious leaders seem to be missing the point,For Africa to develope to meet the needs of the future,we have to find a way to accept our diversity,get rid of old and archaic cultural believes and practices that continue to slow our development and embrace progress.We need to be tolerant of People with different ideas and accepting everybody as human first and foremost.Im an african from a traditional african family so i do understand the upbringing and the mentality when it comes to same sex relationship,i understand the idea of something that used to be outragious,an abormination suddenly becoming accepted and normal,but there is a bigger democratic picture and we must not shy away from change.The more we got african religious leaders coming up to comdemn homosexuality,the more we got religious leaders teaching intolerance the more breeding ground they are creating for division,prejudice and homophobia.Some African leaders denounce homosexuality in order to build public support so as to divert attention from the high level of corruption and extreme poverty.they know the public wants someone to blame for the poor living standards and who better to venge their frustration than homosexuals.Christian leaders wasting no time to quote leviticus in defence of their homophobia,forgetting some of the important teachings of the bible is to love everybody just like ourselves,[love thy neighbour as thyself],even our enemies.We shall not judge,turn the other cheek and one without sin cast the first stone.If there is God,then we are all his children and only he can decide who dies and who lives.[[[[ ]]]] We see what happens when people are not tolerant of others due to religion in the past,Today we see what is happening with islamic state in syria and Boko Haram in Nigeria,a group of sadistic and evil people with a very strong believe that killing innocent people,women and children is fulfiling the will of God.the never ending israellis and the palistinian conflict.A war that may never come to an end unless both parties become acceptance of each other, and so many many other violence around the world where people are forced to be in a certain way or follow a particular religious group or get killed for been different.I have seen Africans compare homosexuals to thieves[not sure what is been stolen],dirty and peadophiles,The way the topic is discussed in Africa is frightening,We all know gay people are not dirty,neither are they peadophiles.We become extremely angry when the topic of homosexuality is been discussed,which would have been understandable if we could come up with some tangible reason for our hatred or what exactly Gay people do that affect our lives.Homosexual relationship,just like heterosexual is between two consenting adults.[peadophilia is a horrendous crime against children by some few bad people in society,children are under the age of consent so whether its boys or girls,Gay men or women,straight men or women its still a crime.you cant beat everyone with the same stick.Theres a lot of Gay and disable people in Africa with the potential to achieve lots in life given the same peace and equality as humans.Young men and women driven out of their homes,rejected by society and disowned by their own parents are less likely to achieve full potential in life.The president of the United states Barack Obama on a state visit to kenya mentioned equal rights for all including homosexuals and the reply from president Uhuru kenyatta the president of kenya was,homosexuality is not one of the problems in Africa.yes homosexuality is not one of the problems in africa but homophobia is and to have a triving economy creating jobs for the ever growing population of africa,we cant afford to have a substantial part of society persecuted,discriminated against and abused everyday and expect foriegn investers to come flopping in to invest in our countries.No invester want to invest in a country with poor human rights,no tourist want to visit a country that shows hostility toward some parts of society because A country with poor human rights is an unstable country so denying that there is a problem with homophobia,just like Uhuru Kenyatta would only keep us in the past.This is the attitude of most african leaders,African religious leaders and the educated elite,pushing it under the carpet.They seem to be only interested in the prestige that comes with the name.Religious people in government in Africa need to understand the difference between religion and democracy,democratic laws and religious laws if they are to represent people of different faiths and religions aswell as people with no religion at all equally and fairly.This collective lack of perspetive can lead to devastating consequences as we've seen People taking the laws into their ownhands, harrassing and abusing homosexuals all over the African continent.So many wars and unrest in the world are caused by lack of democracy and inequality,there is nothing like patial democracy.Gay men and women who get married are imprisoned in malawi.There is a ban on all meetings and support for Gay rights in Nigeria and Countries like mauritania,sudan,northern nigeria and southern somalia have all got the death penalty for people suspected of been homosexuals.We have seen all over the world that homosexuals and disabled people given the same opportunity as everyone else can achieve just as much.Today disable babies in most parts of africa are left to die because it is believed nothing good can come out of a disable person,In some parts it is believed they are evil and need to be given to the gods.Mothers would take their disabled babies to the local chief priest[mallam],who would then litterally starve them,leave them without food for days untill they are dead,claiming the gods have come for them,how stupid and naive is that! Every human being would die without food and water,let alone a new born baby,we attribute diasbility to evil spirits,we consider people with disability as cursed and are not worth anything.There is no room for such a practice in the future of Africa, instead an early intervention by a qualified medical doctor in a hospital.no suprise some of the biggest buildings in africa are religious buildings and prayer camps and the richest pastors and spiritual leaders.Those those disabled children who survive the death penalty at birth are confined,neglected and hidden away,barely scrapping a living from the edges of society.The stigma attached to disability in africa is very appauling,If we dont change our thinking and take ourselves seriously,the rest of the world would not.All over the world we've seen Gay and disable people achieving great height in life,from great musicians like singer and songwriter sir Elton John,Giorgi Armani,a fashion designer with labels huge in demand accross the world.One of the most respected actors in the world Sir Ian Mckellen,CEO of apple Tim cook,the most famous face on CNN Anderson Cooper,the actor,comedian, writer and presenter Stephen Fry and BBC journalist and newsnight and dragons den presenter Evans Davis just to mention a few are all homosexuals.There is over 30 openly Gay MPs in the british house of commons.Theres a lot of disabled people too achieving great height in the world,given the same opportunities and support given to abled people.Wheelchair bound Former brittish politician Dame Anne Begg and former home secretary David Blanket is blind,not to mention one of the best physicist and cosmologist of our time proffesor stephen hawkins who was diagnosed with motor-neuron disease at the age of just 21 but never really stopped him from achieving his goals in life.All these people would not have been able to achieve this height and contribute immersely to society if they were to be killed at birth or neglected for been disabled or persecuted and harrassed and torchered for been homosexuals.We Africans are lucky to have the chance to learn from the mistakes of countries taking the lead with equality and human rights for all including gay people,It is a fact that most of this countries have got their own fair share of racism and discrimination as africans living in the west would testify but atleast there are laws in place to protect everybody,Gay or not Gay,abled or disabled,black or white.We have seen from this countries what Gay people can acchieve given the same rights,protection and support,and the contribution people with disability can also make to society given the same opportunities.We seem to enjoy looking at the label we created rather than what is behind it.African leaders whether they know the right thing or not,need to grow some balls,get to grip and follow suit.The alternative is violence against homosexuals,lawlessness and human rights abuses,.people been attacked and beaten up in the streets,Instant judgement by thugs who takes the laws into their own hands as we continue to see all over africa.If every leaders aim is to protect its country and all its citizens from the wrong world media attention,then our african leaders need to know by now this problem of homophobia in africa is not going anytime soon and do something about it.educate the people about the real homosexuality and end the discrimination and the brutal treatment of disabled people,children learning from an early age every human being is unique and precious,why disable people are just as special as abled people and why this is the way forward,for any progressive and civilise society to compete in a globalized economy in the 21st century.This are the suppose visionaries but one dont need to see a vision from God to realise that with the world we live in today the population of Gay people is just going to grow and grow,not because of straight men and women turning Gay as most homophobes seems to base their arguiment but rather a lot more homosexuals coming out.Just like todays generation wondering how slavery managed to be overlooked all those years for thousands and thousands of africans to be taken away from Africa as slaves.how apathy managed to exist all those years with most of the world seeing nothing wrong with it,and how the world could sit back and watch hitler and the nazis massacre the jews,fifty years from now future generations would also wonder how homophobia was allowed to go on today. we need to take a leaf out of countries taking the lead in legalising homosexuality.This countries have not always been tolerant of homosexuals,Countries like Britain who is an example of equality,tolerance and opportunity for all including Gay people today,have changed and twist its gay laws so many times over the centuries. People used to be burned to death in the 1200s in britain,then by hanging in the 1300 to 1500s,it was not until 1861 before the death penalty was abolished.Even then there was still jail sentences for people believed to be homosexuals untill 1967 when homosexual act between two men the age of 21 and in private was decriminalised.So the homophobia we are seeing today in africa is nothing new,other countries have experienced it and have come to the realisation that the only way forward for any democratic society is to accept everybody as they are,tolerance and mutual respect.The idea that homosexuality is been forced on Africa by the west in exchange for foreign aid is ludicrious,its just an excuse by african leaders to divert the attention of the public away from themselves,away from their inability to change the lives of ordinary people for the better and bring hope to the hopeless,they should be ashamed of themselves.Today due to the corruption of these leaders and the abject poverty people found themselves in,there are long queues as long as the eyes can see at European embassies all accross africa,people living in poverty can see the good life accross their borders.During the time of the fight for independent from colonial rule we were promised a better life,better than the life under colonialism,one of those instrumental to the independent of most african nations Dr kwame Nkrumah said about the independent of his country ghana meaningless untill the liberation of the whole continent from colonial rule.It is the same today,none of us is free if some of us are enslaved.but today,not a lot have changed since.people due to persecution,others for a better life,instead of our leaders looking at the reasons this countries are able to enjoy years and years of peace and stability,they are busy creating division.Just like the suf,a group of women who came together and demanded equality for women,We africans need to come together and stand up to these leaders and demand actions and not just words.Africans living in the west needs to stop behaving like they are still in africa,they need to engage better with the wider communities.Only then we can see the emotionalneed to engage more African leaders and the african rich travel to Europe and America at every given opportunity but dont seem to see what makes this countries peaceful is accepting their diversity and accepting the fact that we are not all the same.For a country to be a developed country its not only about its infrustructure and its ......-alone its also about its human right record......hetronomity of society.....what used to be for the rich in the past,....dont drink and drive is part of the car manual,lets apply the rules for everybody.,lingering.regardless of how open minded you are....

Muslims went on demonstration in Takoradi for equal right in Christian schools and that one attracted condemnation from Mahama against Christian missionary schools. Why is it so? Is it because Mahama sees christians as too docile to be respected?

  I think you are making a mistake. Homosexuality is accepted in the countries of the people you have given as examples. The age of consent also varies in different countries and so is the legality of homosexuality.

  Ghana's laws do not accept being gay so get used to it. Don't use examples from other countries to back your arguments. The vast majority of Ghanaians are against the legalization of same-sex copulation.
  
  I live in a country where this is acceptable and therefore I accept it as law. However when I am in Ghana, I respect the laws of the land.

For the same reason the law contravenes Ghana's constitution. Human rights education is now provided to Ghanaians who have been unjustly persecuted due to their sexuality.

  The biggest threat is rarely spoke of in Church. Our lives depend on oxygen from the air. What makes this oxygen we take for granted? One third comes from the forests. Two thirds come from plankton in the seas.
  
  Now because the ocean temperatures are rising from global warming (caused by cutting forests and burning coal and wood and petrol), the plankton are starting to die.
  
  By the year 2100 the sea will be warmer by around 6 degrees and the plankton will die so much we humans will suffocate. Why do pastors not speak in praise of those who do not have children or just one? Our existence for future generations needs a huge effort to reduce population size.

  Son of God, I feel sorry for you for having so much hate you carry every day in your life. Have you ever try having a day go by without hating someone? Just one day. There are 365 days in a year. Try it ones. It is healthy for the body, the mind, and possibly your soul. If you have one, that is.
