The Electoral Commission's independence is actually being used as an excuse for doing exactly what the framers of the constitution wanted to prevent.

The framers were aware that government of the day could abuse its incumbency to interfere in electoral matters to make it easier for it to rig elections. As a result, they made the EC independent in order to prevent the government from doing so.

What is happening in Ghana today is the opposite. The NDC government is intimately in bed with the EC and the so-called "independence" is being used against all the other stakeholders in favour of the incumbent. Do we need another 100 years to rule ourselves as Donald Trump said? What a shame!

If you want to grade Mahama based on the econmoy then this is what you should know, that there has been massive insfrature development in Ghana which has stimulated growth at the Micro and Macro level.

Notable among them are the maintenance of 15,405-kilometer of trunk, urban and feeder roads in 2013. The construction of the Kwame Nkrumah Circle project which will transform circle into a three-tier interchange to eliminate human and vehicular congestion on-going.

Also President Mahama is constructing the Damanko-Kpassa Water Supply Project, which is serving about 600,000 people in 13 communities in the Nkwanta North District of the Volta Region.

Now i am sure you are grateful to Prof for saying the President deserves a second term

The soar truth is that many Ghanaians think like Prof. ALabi. They believe that looking at the challenges Mahama had to over come and how he has delivered like a Professional, he deserves a second term. Do not forget that President Mahama is only serving his first term as a President.

Under the watch of President Mahama, the nation now has 71,063 motorable roads whith has reduced rood traffic, accident and allowed people to move freely.

This is just one of the several ground breaking activity which makes it fair for Prof Alabi to make a demand to government for a second term

The simple question one would want to ask is, how on earth can the numerous developments that have taken place under this NDC regime be taken as a destruction? This becomes the case when people try to dodge the truth.

The current NDC administration under the leadership of President Mahama has built a hundred and one twenty three (123) in just three years. This evidently has never happened in the annals of this country.

In just three years, this government has built a teaching hospital on the campus of the university of Ghana, in order to help the school run efficient and effectively.

The ridge hospital in this same years has seen an addition of extra facilities and has been lifted to the height and status of a regional hospital.

The perennial erratic power supply that has been the headache of this country for decades now, the John Mahama led administration has fixed it in just three years.

I must confess that, the achievements of this government within three years are just numerous to be counted and the list can will continue if I wish to.

Interestingly enough, it is on record that, this government like no other government has faced more challenges.

The problem of erratic power supply, industrial collapse and a whole lot.

yet in the face of all these challenges, it has delivered on its mandated rightly.

I believe this is the angle from which the good old Professor is coming from. This what is termed constructive and a straight forward assessment.

Like you, I hold an MSc in Ecnomics from an overseas institution, in addition to my chartered accountancy designation from the ICAEW

I am in shock that someone with your Economics graduate study and qualifications would say that JDM's handling of the economy has been great

Under JDM, Ghana has increased her national debt from 9.5 billion cedis to over 100 billion in 7 years in addition to the tax burden on Ghanaians being increased from 20B GHC under 8 years of Kufuors presidency to 200B GHC under 7 years of Mahama

With theses record levels of economic inflows, one would expect that a capable president or govt would have transformed the economy significantly but that has not been the case

As I type I am listening to Adom FM reporting that there is a metro Transport accident in Kintampo with over 47 dead and no ambulance available in that vicinity

How can we brag that we have built infrastructure all over the place but do not have a single ambulance in the Kintampo area. Do we have our priorities right in decisions as to how we use borrowed resources? I beg to disagree.

It is for some of these reasons that I wonder whether you are allowing your personal experience of JDM as a childhood friend to cloud your professional competence. This president has failed totally, because his ministers and advisors have failed him

The debt load on our descendants is totally uncalled for especially given that only 10% of the borrowed resources have been expended on the zoo-called infrastructure and 90% has been used on consumption or evaporated through corruption.

Just like Prof Alabi many Ghanaians believe that President Mahama deserves a second term. The reasons are that just in his 1st term he has achieved more than what most Presidents would have. He has also been faced with several challenges but he has successfully managed them.

Very few Presidents can do this and he has been achieve to achieve more. Prof Alabi is a man of international reputation. For him to make such statements proves that the Better Ghana Agenda is on course and Ghanaian are having their basic needs provided for them.

If we do not give Mahama a second term, who then deserves to rule us. Clearly is not the NPP who till date have not mentioned any of their plans to make Ghana better. There are clueless and so is important Mahama gets a second term to continue his work

Prof. Alabi is a disgrace to scholarship. He could not exercise his intellectual acumen in evaluating president Mahama. Rather, he (Alabi) is asking Ghanaians to vote for President Mahama because he personally knows him; that the President is a humble man; that he and the president lived in the same neighborhood at Tamale; and that the president is a good man that deserves a second chance. Mildly put, Professor Alabi is childish! Where is his intellectual analysis on the president’s performance? Where is his view on the economy, particularly, when he (Prof. Alabi) is a vice chancellor of an institution which trains accountants, and secretaries?

I would love for professor Alabi to come up with another appeal to Ghanaians to vote for President Mahama on the merit of the president’s performances and achievements. Prof., I am sure that some of your neighbors from childhood are struggling to make ends meet. I can imagine also that some of them, too, are filthy rich because of their relationships with the president. Come around one more time, prof.
