Ghana is paying six times its total oil revenue as interest on the country’s total public debt stock; that’s the computation done by former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“We’ll reach GHC99billion by the end of this year 2015,” the Running Mate to the Flagbearer of the biggest opposition Party said in a post-budget presentation interview with Richard Sky of Citi FM.

“The interest on this debt alone is going to be six times Ghana’s oil revenue,” Dr Bawumia said.

“When we found oil, we were happy that we found oil, but the borrowing of this Government has compromised the whole oil discovery; you need six times our oil revenue just to pay interest on the debt, not even capital, so, it is a really sad development,” he complained.

The NPP is now lead by a leader who have currently believes that, all die be die, so the discerning should put their lives on the life line even if it means we all die for him to become president.

The NPP has characters like Kennedy Agyapong who sees members of a part of this country as none Ghanaians and would prefer that, NPP supporters gets raid these people as possible.

There are so many things that have gone wrong that for the first time in my life I have significant doubts about our future as a nation, given some of the recklessness or is it negligence, I have seen in our national politics over the last few years

We saw a lot of borrowing in the recent past and when complaints were made, I remember the president vehemently arguing that it was going to continue. The result of the borrowing and it's over expenditure was Ghana going to the IMF and begging for 1B US dollars

With record tax revenues and loans, and with the right competence we shouldn't have this issue, but we have this issue because there was no vision to grow the economy and jobs, resulting in the current malaise we hVe in Ghana

How can a competent govt grow debt 10 times in 7 years and also grow the tax revenue base by 10 times when many businesses are closing? We need a more responsible govt that cares about its people and has a long term plan for the economy
