  TPOly and the other polys shd lay emphasis on training students to acquire practical skills, not just textbook knowledge.

  Are we creating the needed jobs to take in these students when they finally get their degrees? We are so fixated with holding degrees. We are however not creating the enabling environment for them to apply their knowledge. Gh ...

  Are we creating the needed jobs to take in these students when they finally get their degrees? We are so fixated with holding degrees. We are however not creating the enabling environment for them to apply their knowledge. Ghana needs functional literates who would have the means to apply their knowledge. Otherwise merely churning out degree holders deminishes the value of our credentials. In the early 50's a standard 7 certificate could land you a very good job.Now university degree holders roam the streets always looking for non-existing jobs.And no clear policy enables them create their own jobs,based on the training they acquire.What is the point. Mushroom universities have already sprung up every corner of the country and we keep counting.No clear functional and relevant educational policy.

  Why do Ghanaians always want government to create jobs? it does not happen anywhere in advance democracies. We are still using colonial government system and mentality that aban adwoma is adwoma. Government creates the necessary environment for job creation. By creating technical universities we are diverting our energies into universities that train people to create jobs and employ others not to wait for non existent aban adwoma. This is the German model and it has made them one of the best countries in the world. Our traditional universities are vestiges of colonial educational philosophy-we should train people to solve problems not to put on tie and suit and big English for nothing. Is this what some of you have a problem with? I don't care abt ndc/npp dirty politics-this is very good for the country.
