One of his chief lieutenants in Kumasi was slapped bu these thugs, an act which is a taboo against the Asante traditions. Unfortunately,this Asantehene finally comes out from his hideout and pretends as if he didn't even hear about these events while in South Africa. Now it's going to take several days for him to be briefed, and possibly over a week to even speak about the incident which almost set his kingdom ablaze while on vacation. This tells a lot about the character and devotion of this king to his subjects.

My only criticism of the Asantehene is his ill-timed trip to South Africa at a time when these problems are unresolved in his Kingdom. However, I believe that he should receive full briefings about the situations in Agogo and Tafo before making a decision and public statement.
I believe it would be highly irresponsible & dangerous for the Asantehene to encourage his people to engage in violence against the Fulani Herdsmen in Agogo or Muslim Youths in Tafo.
For example, if the Asantehene was to encourage violence against Muslims in Tafo he could ignite a religious war between Christians & Muslims that may have wider implications and threaten National Security. As for Fulani Herdsmen it is not just in Agogo, they have been causing mayhem they have also been causing problems in Nigeria. After receiving full briefings the Asantehene must consult with the Government and National Security Agencies and agree an Action Plan to resolve the twin problems.
A few days ago another poster made a sensible observation that if the Asante people wanted to drive out the Muslims from Tafo and Fulani Herdsmen from Agogo, it would be easy for them to do so because of sheer numbers of people living in the Region. Personally, I would like to hear my King state publicly that our people are friendly & tolerant people whom welcome those from other Regions and countries to visit, live or work among us. However, with this tolerance we expect those people to behave accordingly and if they are not able to do so they will be asked or forced to leave the Ashanti Region.
