Good pictures marking the independence of Ghana 59 years ago. But have we achieved what our founder, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah echoed on the eve of independence? Have we sat down either individually or as a nation to listen once again to the wisdom and the call for duty that he demanded from us as individuals? What have we achieved since that call to create our own African identity? Do we feel happy as a nation at Independence Day? As for me, we as Ghanaians have betrayed the great Kwame Nkrumah. We have deviated from the path and dreams of this nobleman. A trust betrayed any time we called and reminded Ghanaians about our independence. Our Ghana, a land of gold and lots of natural and man-made materials have been depleted out of our own selfish deeds of corruption, bad leadership and tribalistic tendencies. The only way out to see our bleeding Ghana up again will be to admit our failures that we have failed in our responsibility towards our country and our youth. We start a reconstruction and restructuring of our collapsed systems and structures, a complete reorganization of the civil and public systems through massive layoffs of labour and a serious restructuring of our agricultural system backed by industrialization and value addition to our home grown products and goods. Finally, Our independence will be meaningless if our Parliamentarians do not change their bad habits of showcasing selfishness, wanton insults, vulgarism and lack of preparedness to debate on issues affecting the Country and citizens of the country. This area also needs a total overall in attitude and character of people who call themselves "honourables”.

Didn't his wife see him when he left the house, if not, why didn't one of his yes-men inform him? If he is incapable of presenting a dignified appearance in how he is attired, one should not expect him to pay particular attention to details in governing.

Martin, he deliberately dressed like that. He did so to make a point; that until he is in charge he will never give a damn what the nation is doing. That has always been his attitude.

Can't tell the difference between Police and the Military anymore. Both look very menacing. Can't work out why all police carry the same weapons as the military. Does this explain why they are trigger happy?

Last year I was at the event, and was mingling in the VIP section. I was around a few West African attendees, and one of them said " Wow Ghana is advanced ooh". I got emotional and realized how he felt compared to most Africa ...

Last year I was at the event, and was mingling in the VIP section. I was around a few West African attendees, and one of them said " Wow Ghana is advanced ooh". I got emotional and realized how he felt compared to most African Nations, we really know how to put up a good show. Had our politicians done just a little bit better since the 80's, we would have really come a long ways. Anyway, there is still hope, and all of us are to blame. Mahama may not be that great, but I don't think Akuffo Addo can do better, and unfortunately JJ Rawlings didn't try at all for almost 20 years? Just sat on ice...did nothing good or bad.

Akuffo Addo Retirement Party, I've never taken you seriously until now. Akuffo Addo showed that as long as he is not in charge nothing good in the country will ever be good enough for him or matter to him. First it was the president's SONA which he refused to attend. And on the anniversary of our independence, he went to the gathering dressed like a stranger who was just passing by and decided to stop over. With this unpatriotic attitude how can you convince people that you care?
