Accra, Sept. 2, GNA - The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) on Tuesday announced that it would hold an Extraordinary Congress on Friday, September 12 to deliberate on the electoral dispute and related matters confronting the Association.
A statement said there would, therefore, be no handing-over ceremony on Wednesday as announced.
The statement said the extraordinary c ongress is in accordance with Article 16 of the GJA Constitution.
"The decision by the National Executive follows an emergency meeting it held today (Tuesday) to consider the various sentiments expressed about the GJA Presidential election dispute and the decision reached by the Ad-hoc Electoral Dispute Committee, set up to consider the protest filed by one of the presidential contestants." The Congress would be held at the Ghana International Press Centre.
