An employer that abandons you for 4 years does not have your interest at heart or may not need your services. Terminate the employment and find something else to do. you have family and other responsibilities to take care of.

It is not possible anywhere in the world.

I think there is more to this matter. Our government under the able leadership of President Mahama is not a mean but a caring one. I believe there should be further investigations into this matter for the truth to be told.

But as it sounds now, I only see it as an attempt if not to smear dirt on leadership, then I can't tell what exactly it is.

For the record, no teacher association has worked for fours without remuneration, none that I can think of. But what they mostly cry for his allowances, so how on earth, would decide to pay some and leave the rest.

This story is yet complete to be called a report.

They all happened to teach in the same community. Don't be surprised. And talking about caring government, I beg to differ. A government that only thinks of filling the pockets of its top guns at the expense of the rest of a nation isn't caring, in my opinion. Would you call your parents caring if they buy expensive clothes and cars with your school fees and don't feed you?

They are barely managing on fees they collect from extra classes and tutoring. Some may even charge fees for handouts. The latter is not a good practice but it happens.

Ghana in the good days one gets his/her payment within the second month of employment
depending on which week of the month one is employed, I have worked in govt. intitutions and been ateacher before therefore I know what I am talking about. I believe the the acountants involved diverts the money for their personal business and when it profits they then pay back other than that why workers not being paid promptly ie. teachers nurses etc. From the accountant general office to the various accounatants, financial secretaries, auditors bursars in govt. offices and institutions across

This can only be unthordox recruitment without following laid down government directives concerning case-by-case justification and availability of finance. Heads of units are warned to receive approval from the finance ministry etc before engaging any employee or else such employees will have to wait till such time that there're resources to receive their emoluments. I even doubt if their particulars are with the Controller General. The unit directorate erred and they're not bold enough to explain the situation to the affected teachers. The Education ministry should dialogue with Mr Terkpe to find something for them, and also sanction the heads who didn't follow due process. Btw, why didn't the source contact the district directorate or the CG for their side of the story? This rush to publish half stories and truths is an affront to the society, and show the level of laziness and shallowness of the Ghanaian journalists

Within the space of four years, over 50,000 basic school teachers across the country benefited from ICT training under JDM.
Government has also prioritized the welfare and training of teachers and improved on their professionalism and redeployment at this level.

One hundred and sixty thousand (160,000) teachers, representing
56% of teachers at the basic education level have also received career development training under the JDM administration.One thousand (1,000) teachers have also undergone in-service training in line with the objective of improving the teaching of mathematics and science.
This is the mark of a govt which cares about the well-being of teachers. We must trust in the NDC govt for I believe there's no better alternative done the NDC

Ma appointmen letter stated 2013 September even though I started work before then in June 2013. So if it were U, will u let go of all the monies owing U? The rent, bills transportation and the wat have U. Do u knw hw I manage to survive. Wat will I gain in painting the government black if its white? Its soo unfortunate they hate the truth. We recall there was a directive that all pupil teachers were not to be engaged, as part of the staff rationalization program in line with John Mahama's own bailout program with the IMF. Pupil teachers were all therefore asked to leave the service of the GES since there were enough trained teachers to fill all the vacancies in our first and second cycle institutions or in lieu of that, upgrade themselves within some specified time period so they could be retained. With these pupil teachers now raising the issue of non-payment of salary arrears, in their district, this matter needs to be interrogated to find out if, that directive issued with regards to pupil teachers within the context of staff rationalization was carried out and applicable across board, all over the country or it was specific to some districts and regions? And if it was not specific to some districts and regions, but all across the country, has the Ghanaian taxpayer lost any funds through the continuous engagement of pupil teachers, now that we know, some are agitating for their unpaid salaries and have been promised and assured, they would get it.
Would Okudzeto Ablakwa, Samuel like to clear the air on this matter as to whether the Ghanaian taxpayer has lost any money since the directive to disengage pupil teachers came into force?

If all the allegations we hear about the way the Government has been treating Teachers and Schools are true, it beats my imagination how our Government Officials could even live with such guilt.

How could the members of the Government, including the President, knowingly ignore paying Teachers for 4 YEARS, and live to eat and drink and party while the Teachers languish in such state of depravity and uncertainty of where their next meals would come from?

If the allegations are true, the Government should immediately halt receiving their salaries until all the Teachers are fully paid their arrears and currently due salaries.

Teachers are not voluntary slaves to toil freely for the Government Officials to live fat on their services. Some might think the Officials do not directly benefit from the services of the Teachers. But the truth is that the long-suffering patience the Teachers mustered to wait for 4 YEARS offered the Government a relatively peaceful atmosphere and the semblance of a good-job-done to justify receiving their own salaries.

The Budget the Government presented to the Parliament included allocations meant for paying the Teachers all over the Country. So, when it got approved, the Teachers should have gotten their share in Salaries. Where, then, did that part of the Budget go?

Teachers are not dispensable mummified objects to be denied food, shelter and other necessities of life, and still expected to work, teaching our school children. Even robots would have to be regularly maintained. Therefore, to have Teachers go without salaries for 4 YEARS is a crime against humanity and the Government should be taken to the Hague for that. Darn it!

When will such criminal negligence by our own Government stop?!!! Enough is enough!!!!!!

As these Teachers go unpaid, the Government ironically expects them to keep teaching to keep its image intact so its corrupt and inept members could continue to live in opulence. Some members of the Government are said to have their Children in foreign Schools, and even if the upkeep of these wards of the Government Officials' strictly come from the pockets of the Officials themselves, it is most likely that it is our foreign exchange reserves that are tapped into to make those payments in parallel.

Such neglect of the Teachers and our Schools are not only an irrepressible signal of our Government's failure but also simply morally reprehensible.

So, for once, let President Mahama get down into the trenches to personally see to the immediate redress of this horrible injustice to the Teachers and any other Government employee in a similar situation of non-payment of Salaries.

In fact, I've had it with the seemingly endless trend of our Government's failures, and if I were the sole referee in deciding who our next President and Government would be, the existence of this inhumane treatment of the Teachers alone would disqualify the Mahama Administration from remaining in Power or continuing to govern beyond the Elections.

If President Mahama did not know of this problem with the Teachers until now, it means his Minister of Education and her subordinates have been hiding the it, and, perhaps, many more of their non-performance and inefficiencies, from the President, and ought to be summarily dismissed forthright.

We even had to meet them in moda with our attendance register or book. Masa we have been going through hell so if u dot knw shit better shut up. Nonsense if I were to be your Broda going through this, u won't tell me to stop work after all these years of commitment n sacrifice. My survival is a result of my family outside.masa it is God wai. As I even speak wit u, am to renew ma rent which was due last month. N I havent paid a dime. The leaders always tell us of clearances whiles the health sector received financial clearances twice last month. Y not education. Na God is watching hmmm
