Yaa Yaa, you are right. NDC will always wait for NPP to "lie" before they come out with figures which they only have. They should be proactive rather than defensive.

Dr. Bawumia pointed out that the NDC had increased Ghana’s debt in seven years by GHC90 billion, from GHC9.5 billion at the end of 2009 to some GHC99 billion currently; an equivalent of some 37 billion dollars at the time of borrowing.

“First, If you sum the cost of all the loan financed projects listed in the green book (even including those with artistic impressions, it is less than $7 billion. Meanwhile, the government has borrowed the equivalent of $37 billion so where is the rest of the money? Indeed, given the resources at its disposal one should expect at least four times the quantum of investment that the NDC claims to have undertaken”, Dr. Bawumia said, as he began listing the six reasons.

Dr. Bawumia proceeded to list a number of things the over 30billion dollars from borrowing the NDC cannot account for, could have done, which proves that contrary to the claims, the NDC has done a bad job at giving Ghanaians their due after undertaking unprecedented borrowing in the last seven years.

There are issues that are indefensible and to attempt to defend such things is plain wrong. In an attempt by John Mahama to shore up his dwindling image from his failed leadership, the humiliation and embarrassment he has suffered has actually made it worse for his image.
For journalists to be restrained in their normal course of duty to the point of violence, is not only revolting, it is reprehensible and smacks of a country with Kim Jong Un tendencies.
The whole episode from a desperate leader looking for validity, to the boycott by the Scottish MPs, to the restraining of the journalist, was an unprecedented moment of humiliation and embarrassment.
There was nothing proper and right about this whole debacle and it is most unfortunate.

Everybody knows that Bawumia is a pathological liar whose main mission is to discredit government's achievements and lie about president Mahama. His recent comment that the country's total debt stock is 37 billion dollars clearly shows that he is a big time liar because the total debt stock of the country is 24 billion dollars hence it doesnt make sense to claim that the NDC has borrowed 37 billion within 7 years. Besides, every loan that the NDC government has borrowed been used for developmental projects such as construction of roads, building of schools and hospitals among others.

So for the NPP to claim that the country's debts stock is 37 billion US dollars, its nothing but a sheer propaganda to score cheap political points. Bawumia is learning the lies from his boss Nana Akufo Addo who on several occasion has peddled falsehood against the president. a classical example is the ridge expansion hospital project which he lied that the cost of the project was bloated.

New universities and SHS have equally been built. expansion of hospital projects are ongoing while modern hospitals like the police hospital and the university of Ghana hospital are equally ongoing and near completion. better roads are being constructed.

among others.

The procurement law to a large extent allows for sole sourcing of some contracts hence the onus lies on the minority (NPP et al) to play their gate keeping role all in the bid to ensure we get value for money. In the same vei, if you have ample evidence that the current administration is engaged in any wrong doing, kindly ask the the minority in parliament (NPP Mps) to file a motion of recession or you can also seek redress at the courts.
You owe it to this country. Its your civic duty.

The NDC government is more interested in how to change lives and transform this country. countless developmental projects like the new 200 SHS, small town water project, road projects , investment in the power sector, conversion of polytechnics into technical universities, upgrading of kumasi hospital and expansion of KIA terminal among others are all being implemented under the NDC government.

Just refer to records of all borrowed monies in dollars from external sources, then add records internal borrowings also coverted to fdollars at the time.... AND YOU WILL SEE THAT BAWUMIA IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT...

Discerning Ghanaians know Ghana's total debt stock since the era of Kwame Nkrumah is $24 billion dollars. It certainly makes no mathematical sense for the government to borrow more than the total debt stock of the country hence the intellectual dishonesty bawmia engages in is a dent on his CV and not the good books of Ghana.

Moreover, in 2015 the syndicated loan for cocoa purchases yielded US$1.8 billion which in turn reduced the pressure on the cedi.
Thus, this is the reason why Forbes-ranked billionaire, Mark Stevens who owns TREVO,said the cedi stability of Ghana’s denomination is good reason to invest in the economy.

bawumia must go back and revise his economics and maths notes.

In all humility, bawumia's assertions defies simple logic since it makes no mathematical sense for a government to borrow more than the total debt stock of the country.

The earlier bawumia gets in touch with reality and comes to terms with the fact that Ghanaians are not daft and can differentiate between the facts and the untruths he keeps peddling, the better because he is gradually turning into a laughing stock.

According to CIA website, Ghana's GDP in 2015 was $37.68 billion.

Ghana's pubic debt was 76% of the GDP. GDP means gross domestic products which also means all that Ghana produced and sold within the country in 2015.

Ghana's external debt is $17.2 billion

Therefore if the public debt is 76% of GDP which was $37.68 billion in 2015, calculations would give us something around $27.5 billion as public debt. If we add up the public and external debts, they would give us about $44.7 billion as our country' total debt as at today.

Public debt $ 27.5 billion
External debt $ 17.2 billion
Add $ 44.7 billion

If I am wrong, then CIA is also wrong so please visit the website and do your own calculations.

If this information which has been written on CIA library is inaccurate, then the government should contact them to remove it.

The debt stock of Ghana as at September, 2015, stood at GH¢92,161.84 million (US$24,285.07). This was made up of GH¢54,488.26 million (US$14,357.91million) for external debt and GH¢37,673.58 million ($9,927.16 million) for domestic debt. These are the facts.
We must also learn to verify the facts for ourselves and stop listening to hear say from the likes of bawumia who is gradually gaining notoriety for intellectual dishonesty.

The youth of the NDC will continue to stand up for Ghana, defend it and trumpet the good works of president Mahama such as the expansion of Tema Port,expansion of Takoradi Port, expansion of Tamale and Kumasi Airports,Atuabo Gas plant, exploration of major oil blocs, namely: Ten, Gye Nyame, and the Volta Basin,construction of brand new Atuabo Free Port among others.
However, if you have ample evience which implicates any NDC youth of any wrong doing, kindly report at the nearest police station or seek redress at the courts.
We will continue trust IN JDM for he will always inspire us to duty, service and pride.
