How about MASSIVE INTERNAL food production and use the energy of finding foreign market to develop ways that cheap food could reach Ghanaians and then export the rest to neighboring countries.?
Why FOLLOW FOLLOW the Ivorians whose cashew plantations are for the French and the money realized leave the country?
Go learn from the Nigerians how the former agriculture minister who is now the head of the continental Africa Development Bank actively improved internal RICE production . The young former minister was very active and took his job as if it was his religion. ALWAYS IN THE FIELD WITH FARMERS.
if who you gonna appoint to be agriculture minister is going to be in air-conditioned office and deligate his job to people he won't hold responsible as our lazy ass alway do, then FORGET IT.
The young Nigerian former minister's activism in agriculture is what made all African nations unanimously chose him to head the ADB so that African's green revolution could have a sympathetic ear and support with big money.
Agriculture should not be used as some emotional political campaign play thing. It require a strong vision,dedication, passion and overall zeal to realize its benefit to lift us up from poverty.
FORGET CASH CROPS AND PROMOTE FOOD CROPS FOR OUR CONSUMPTION.
We continue growing and making food cheaper for Europeans while one finger of plantain that we eat is a dollar each in Ghana while same plantain is 4/$1.00 in the EU/US all because we flood their markets with cash crops while we go hungry.
The internal market can give us more money without a corrupt marketing board.

The issue in parliament is not about the ban, instead whether or the Minster had the jurisdiction to impose such a ban. Parliament wants to be the ones taking such a decision. However the Minister has withdrawn the ban.

The local cashew nut industries are dying because the local farmers are exporting the cashew nut they grow. In order to revive the cashew industries the minster imposed the ban. It is clear that the cashew nut ban is designed to make the cashew nut industry better

Just saying that you will make Agricultural a priority is not just enough. You must tell us what you will do, how you will do it and the gains you expect to reap after a period of time. Governance is a serious business and we do not need vain words.

Agricultural did not see much development by the NPP between 2000 and 2008. Yes there are challenges now, but Mahama is doing his best.

How many Top Priorities is the NPP propagating? Everyday a new Top Priority emerges depending on who is talking. Bawumia said on march 18 in the Volta region that Job creation is the 'Single Biggest' priority of the NPP if it wins power. Then Akuffo Addo the next day says Revival of Agric is NPP's top priority. So depending on who is talking we have a new priority. Bawumia and Akuffo Addo are in competition announcing top priorities. So what exactly is their message to Ghanaians? No doubt Nyaho Tamakloe says he has known Akufo Addo for 50 years and that he has no message to run his campaign. The noises from Bawumia is drowning akuffo Addo's efforts and he must watch out. At the end of the day whose message should the public take? The campaign is not coordinated and the message is disjointed and meaningless.
