On the other hand, I will be surprised if the security apparatus of Ghana hs no detailed security for Akuffo Addo and other presidential candidates. It could also be that NPP does not trust the security institutions of the country. The government needs to give a strong security for Akuffo Addo to avert this issue of private security. How will NPP deal with such security if they happen to win the elections?

Until such a time the act of changing of almost the entire agents of our secret services is revised whenever there is a change of government the opposition would be right to have their destiny in their own hands. The reason, and the norm, is that the BNI has been on the record to do the hatchet jobs for the governments they serve. Likewise our police service, who otherwise should have maintain standards of professionalism, has allowed itself to be badly compromised. It therefore comes as no surprise for the NPP to have decided to recruit their own internal security which they can trust. Readers may recall that that hardened criminal who was contracted to kill honorably JB Dankwah Adu suddenly had a change of statement as soon as he was transfered to the BNI cells. This simple analogy tells how our security systems are rotten.

The manner in which the NPP was exposed just goes to affirm the notion that "anything done in darkness shall surely come to light."
If Nana Addo isn't so convinced about his security apparatus, he can still fall on the Ghana police service and the various security agencies which have been retooled under the Mahama led -administration to deal with any unforeseen circumstances.
A typical example which is in the full glare of the public is how the BNI's intelligence department was able to swoop in on these south African ex-service men who were doing contrary to what the laws of GHana stipulates.
A true yardstick with respect to our current security status was also confirmed by Ghana police service directorate which opined that under JDM, between 2013 and 2014 the crime
rate dropped by over 5,000.
A clear sign that we must trust in our security agencies, hence Nana Addo and the NPP do not have to panic.

The above-captioned article, sourced from myjoyonline dated 22nd March, 2016 makes for a very interesting and even funny piece that depicts, at best, a crass propaganda strategy by the ruling government and its apparatchiks. It recalls to mind when Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, was arrested on the flimsy excuse that he had caused “fear and panic” with his misconstrued “tribalistic” statement that “threatened national security” under late President Atta Mills.
For this arrest, ex-President Kufuor appealed to late President Atta Mills to use his presidential powers to set Mr. Kennedy Agyapong free for the sake of peace, and described the action of the police as akin to “using a sledge hammer to kill a fly.” However, this statement by ex-President Kufuor did not go down well with the then Vice-President of Ghana, Mr. John Mahama. Within a few days, the then Vice-President is alleged to have responded that his party would not hesitate employing the use of “bulldozers to kill flies, if any fly tried to disturb the peace of this country.”
In the above-referenced article, the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) is reported to have caused the arrest of three South African former police officers in the Central Region for allegedly engaging in acts that threaten the country’s security. The three, 54-year-old Major Ahmed Shaik Hazis (Rtd.), 39-year–old WO/ Denver Dwayhe Naidu (Rtd.) and 45-year-old Captain Mlungiseleli Jokani (Rtd.), were picked up on Sunday March 20, 2016 at El Capitano Hotel in Agona Dunkwa in the Central Region. According to the report, the three were engaged in training 15 young men in various military drills, including unarmed combat, weapon handling, VIP protection techniques, and rapid response maneuvers.
What is interesting is the alleged disclosure that the leader of the group, Hazis, disclosed to BNI officials that they were brought into the country by one Capt. Koda, head of security detail for NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, and that Hazis was part of Nana Akufo-Addo’s security detail during the 2012 elections but left the country soon after. A deputy director of communications of the NPP, Perry Okudzeto, set the record straight by noting that the South African nationals were training the security men strictly for “crowd control” and not for “military tactics,” and they “had license to operate” as such.
After all, what individual of right mind would want to train 15 Ghanaians to engage in what in Ghana? As home-trained terrorists, when we have already imported real terrorists into the country that is creating panic in the people, yet being made to pale into insignificance?
In the face of all these, a deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Koku Anyidoho, was quick to spin this story as NPP’s “desperation for power” and “importing mercenaries to destabilize the country,” seizing upon every concocted opportunity to draw the name of Nana Akufo-Addo into everything just because he is known to be of incorruptible character.
“Destabilize the country” for what? The NDC leadership has time and time again employed crass and “outdated revolutionary tactics” to divert the substances of issues. When they clearly have no message for the citizenry after having run the Ghanaian economy aground, and forcing people to live under harsh economic times, they resort to a track record of what they do best--blowing issues out of proportion, irrelevancy, and propaganda.
Surprisingly, the NDC leadership tends to assume that Ghanaians lack the ability to discern the truth. Who is interested in comprehensive report of the operations of Superlock Technologies Limited, a company mentioned in the arrest report that was engaged by Afari Gyan’s Electoral Commission (EC) that transmitted and collated results to the EC during the 2012 general elections? People are rather interested in far more important issues such as US$37 billion in revenue under the NDC government, of which only US$7 billion is accounted for in public projects in Ghana. It is on such issues that discerning Ghanaians are going to vote and take their destiny into their own hands.
And given what is happening in Nigeria now with the advent of the anti-corruption crusader, President Buhari, which has opened the way for Nigeria to receive US$200 billion of its looted money stashed away by Nigerian public officials in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai), the reason cannot be far-fetched as to why the Nigerian counterparts of corrupt Ghanaian public officials are agitating and panicking: they sense a similar fate awaiting them should the now awakened Ghanaian electorate vote the NDC out of power in the 2016 elections, a change that seems inevitable in Ghana.
It is change that will supplant greed in governance by a few with sharing in governance with all citizens. It is change that results in jobs and not jolts in the economy; change that results in making electricity power a constant norm, not a variable norm; change that results in classrooms under roofs and tiles, not under trees and dirt; change that results in streets paved with blocks and asphalt, not patched with potholes and mud; and change that results in waxing the honor in public service, not waning the honor in public service.
Fifty-nine good years of nationhood, and we really have nothing to show for it. Ghana was 8 years old when Singapore had its political independence in 1965. Today, the success story of Singapore is told to the chagrin of Ghana. At independence, Ghana was richer than Argentina, Brazil, Malaysia or Singapore. Today, these countries’ success stories are told to the chagrin of Ghana.
Isn’t it about time that we moved away from the infantile partisan politics to the promised land of matured politics of true nation building? Why do we continue to be poor amidst plentiful natural resources? Corruption is a prime suspect. We are neck deep in corruption, which bedevil our socio-economic progress, because of leadership deficit. We need leaders with vision and commitment to build the capacity of the African to solve Africa’s problems.
Instead, we have leadership today that is master at propaganda and lies; leadership that can twist the story of a hungry snake that snatches a fish from the pond for meals, into a “Good Samaritan” snake that saves a helpless fish from drowning. And that is what the NDC is good at.

Political party leaders aside those in the incumbent government are not assigned State security personnel for their personal protection.

It has always been the practice that these leaders make arrangements for their own security. Sometimes they turn to retired army/ police personnel who are sympathetic to their causes to help ensure their safety. Other times, they are simply loyal party supporters who volunteer themselves and are given a crash course in VIP protection by former security operatives.

Candidate Kufuor had his own personal security prior to his electoral victory, Candidate Atta Mills also did same.

Why are we all of a sudden creating the impression that this is the first time such a scenario has played out in our body politic? If we want to have a serious discussion about providing truly independent State Security to high value political leaders in the country to avoid the need for such arrangements, let's do that and stop this nonsensical propaganda.

Discerning Ghanaians will not the NPP the mandate to milk the country dry again.
At least available statistics from the Ghana police service show that under President Mahama, between 2013 and 2014 the crime rate dropped by over 5,000. A clear indication that we are truly safer under the NDC government. The security services have also be retooled to deal with any unforseen circumstances as we just saw in the arrest of the south African trio who were arrested by the BNI.
On the score of development, JDM has ended the shift system in our basic schools,completed the 147 sawla fufulso road and his team is equally seeing to the expansion of Tema Port, expansion of Takoradi Port, expansion of Tamale and Kumasi Airports, Atuabo Gas plant, exploration of major oil blocs, namely:Ten,Gye Nyame, the Volta Basin,construction of brand new Atuabo Free Port, Rehabilitation of Komenda Sugar Factory, construction of the circle and kasoa interchange among others. Thus, how can you described somebody who has done all these within the short space of four years as incompetent?
Ghanaians in all humility will continue to trust in the NDC govt and this is the main reason why JDM will win the 2016 elections onetouch.

Moreover discerning Ghanaians can attest to the fact that the NDC has not failed this country but it is equitably distributing the wealth of this country through the various developmental projects on going such as the 123 community Day SHS in the various regions. Like wise available statistics show from the Ghana police service points out that between 2013 and 2014 under JDM, the crime rate dropped by over 5,000.
A clear indication that we are safer under the NDC govt and this to a large extent is the reason why JDM will be retained in power come NOv 7.

After the indepence on several ocassions they tried to assassinate our first presidents Dr. Kwame Nkrumah throw bombings smuggled into Ghana by the late father of jake Okanta obetsebi lamptey but they couldn't succeed until they masterminded the bloody coup d'état of 24th February 1966 led by general EK Kotoka and General Akwesi Afrifa. When JJ Rawlings was rulling the PNDC one of the leaders of NPP, JH Mensah with foreign missionaries armed with military equipment 'NOBISTA' attempted to invade Ghana by using the sea to over throw the government of the PNDC by armed force but our gallant soldiers foiled their attempt. Now, nobody should be surprised about the current developments because the demonic blood of their late fathers and uncles is running through their veins. We should be on the look out because this Busia-Danquah tradition don't have Ghana at their heart else their late fathers and uncles wouldn't have inflicted too much pains on mother Ghana by overthrowing the government of Kwame Nkrumah. The NDC govt has ended the shift system in our basic schools, completed the sawla fufulso road which connects other neighbouring countries an equally constructing the kasoa and circle interchange which will help ease traffic in the busy business districts.
It is obvious the NPP has no message for Ghanaians and defeat will surely be their portion come NOv 7.
Moreover, if Nana Addo has nothing to hide, why would the SA trio be training men without a license?

If the nation cannot do then it beholves on the individual political parties to make that arrangement. We were in this country when men in Ghanaian military uniforms raided the NPP office. If the state is not protecting them does it need to also steal from them. If they have contracted a private security and are given them an in-training to meet the demands of the job, I see nothing wrong. At least they have availed themselves for questioning and have proven beyond doubt that they are not terrorist. By the way how did this info slip from BNI to the media houses. NPP's hiring of foreign commandos/mercenaries and claims that the training was to enable its security personnel perfect crowd control and better protect the flagbearer is a case of treason and terrorism. Ghana is a sovereign state with all laws and regulations. Ghana has its own army, police force and other security organs to protect the nation.Don't we have experts in crowd control in Ghana to do the job for them or train personnel for the npp? Did npp acquire permission from the appropriate authorities before hiring these mercenaries to Ghana. Did they apply for work permit in Ghana for them?
Their explanation is so stupid and childish that it smells of the famous "all die be die" mantra.
BNI should not only detain and try these mercenaries together with their employers in criminal court for treason and terrorism. This is a case national of security, bearing in mind the forthcoming elections and Addo Dankwah's determination to become president of Ghana through any means, do or die. God save Mother Ghana from these greedy and national property grabbing idiots.

It is ridiculous how they try to spin their case for this behavior to justify their actions, and would not concede hypocrisy.

The simple fact we all have to face is whether it is legal to hire a private Army or Militia in Ghana for Political purposes. Period!

It was not acceptable when Yaw Boateng Gyan, the former NDC National Organizer, was believed to have assembled similar thugs for extra security. And it is just as bad with this NPP attempt to do the same.

We have our taxpayers paid Security Agencies who are up to the task of protecting all Presidential candidates anywhere in Ghana. So, there is no need for bringing anyone from outside to help enhance the security of any candidate.

If that was not the case, President Mahama could as well import similar Para-Military personnel to come protect him. And wouldn't that take us back to the same unacceptable Nkrumah era where the late President was alleged to have surrounded himself with foreign para-military personnel?

So far, there is no evidence that our local Security Agencies have neglected the security needs of Akufo-Addo or NPP or any other Party to justify the hiring of such private Militias. If Akufo-Addo senses the need for heightened security, all he has to do is ask the Government Agencies to step up.

The example Sammy Awuku gave with the murder of the Akyem MP, J. B. Danquah, as the justification for such hiring is both stupid and a pretense.

There has been no evidence at all that the apprehended murderer of the MP was politically motivated. And so, the murder was only one of the many that have unfortunately afflicted Ghanaians of all shades of color and social standing. We have seen Bank Officials murdered, ordinary travelers murdered on the highway, etc. Those are all random acts of violence that we have to empower our Security Agencies more to tackle.

Instead of wasting resources to hire outside Security, the NPP leaders who financed this hiring could have channeled a fraction of that amount in boosting the morale of our local Security Agencies to offer similar if not better protection, if that is needed.

With the finding of other literature on the company said to have been working with the EC to monitor the Elections in the hands of these foreign para-military personnel, we could all honestly concede their mission was way beyond simple provision of protection to any NPP leader.

One other thing to look at is where the funding for this Militia comes from. Could such secret expense be the reason why the Akufo-Addo faction re-opened a dormant NPP Account secretly, only to lead to the suspension of Afoko and Agyepong who set to challenge the existence of that account?

We must be very careful how we go about doing even the most mundane routine activities around our Elections. Every little mistake could be used as an excuse by some vicious thuggish, paranoid folks to plunge us into a horrible violent crisis.

NPP has cleverly demonstrated "all die be die" mantra in a different way by bringing in mercenaries from SA to train guards of NPP for the upcoming national elections. Ghanaians MUST condemn this act with all their might. I am neither a sympathizer of NPP nor NDC and I pray none of these parties takes the mantle in the next election especially NPP. What scares me about NPP is their quest for power at all cost. I pray that, any one who attempts to throw Ghana into a state of anarchy MUST be exposed and fall on his weapons in Jesus name.
