I agree with you to some extent on the expected role of government in providing security for the likes of aspirants etc. Nonetheless, for someone with an evil mind or intention,
no matter how crack a security apparatus the state provides him, he would not trust them. The person simply wants to be lawless in achieving whatever he wants and the state apparatus will have limitations for him within the confines of the law.
What is even important is that you cannot organise a public forum without seeking the permission of the security agencies. Again where and what the state security can go or do is limited to your private security. If you do not have ulterior motives, why did you not send your trainees to South Africa for the training? Would you have been able to smuggle them in there without clearance from their security? Give us a break, NPP.
If it's mere training what are the STL documents doing with aliens?
Nkrabea (capt. rtd) shocked me when he said on Muntie FM this morning that he did not know of any law in Ghana barring private security companies from carrying fire arms. Protect your image by not defending the indefensible.

Consequently, if there is any armed robbery attack on any NPP member or Parliamentarian they should call on the mercenaries and not the Ghana Police. Stupidity and desperation for power is what will kill NPP.

Ibrahim has handled this subject better but the issues still remains that can npp ever trust any security detailed to protect Nana Addi or Dr Bawumia?were there weapons involve in the training?Nana,s current bodyguards do not carry weapons but yet he's confortable with them than any form of security from the state why?mistrust,don't also forget that we ve ex service men in the system who ve knowledge of our security set up but we re not worry about them and making storm out of a tea cup because they re South Africans.Once the training is taking place in Ghana under the watchful eye of the BNI it's better that taking the training outside Ghana,if we want to grow out of this problem then we should allow the military to offer such training to all political party's because they need security,a whole mp was killed not long ago so what re we talking about?.

No one should say the truth because you think the one you want to be president at all cost is a saint even if he blasphemes? Just look at how you are ragging with hatred in your posts. Calling the impartial analyst all sort of names just because he has spoken his mind about our their 'saint'. Saint indeed! Because all he does is pious even if he brings suspected mercenaries in to achieve his selfish dream of becoming president. How can you work as a president if you don't trust your own security forces? Since NPP lost power, you have always branded the security forces as impartial. Are they not the same security agencies that shielded you through your regime as the government of Ghana? Give the top analyst a break. He calls a spade a spade. What would say about bringing in skills and experts brought from China to help with our mines? What would you call expertise brought from Formula One to teach our drivers how to escape from armed robbers and what will you say IT experts are brought in to teach our kids how to make, dismantle computer gadgets and prevent hacking? Are all these CAPACITY BUILDING? Lets stop this nonsense, we have lots and lots of private security firms and we dont talk about them posing security threat so why these THREE people? My only regret or disappointment is that they did not choose from our excellent and well trained ex-service men. We have people who can do equally good if not better. Must we see everything in political colours through political lenses.

The country's constitution allows individuals to set up private security companies which offers various services to different clients.

there is no evidence these people (the ex-police officers from SA) are mercenaries or have done anything illegal as far as their entry into the country is concerned. except if the BNI are able to convince the nation their visa application has no information about such training details.
they have also not been able to provide any details of any subversion activities in the country.
To train security staff for the activities mentioned is/are not illegal.
As far as the state allows individual political parties to employ their own security officers, there are no laws broken except the BNI could tell the nation of their intelligence information and evidence of any subversive activities.

In Ghana people are allowed to buy their own guns as far as they are registered. so what is the motive of the BNI in this ongoing saga apart from political/partisan expendency to tarnish the main opposition party.
BNI show do their home work well before embarking in such populist news grabbing activities.
They should be made aware that they are there for the whole Ghanaians and not for one group of people.
