Now the Ghana embassy in the USA has also run short of passport booklets and can also not print visas for people wishing to travel to Ghana. Is it not a shame that their printers are not working. People who applied for passports have not got them after 3 months. The embassy now wants to issue travel certificates rather but not all airlines accepts TCs. TCs issued is only good for one way. What a disgrace? Even Syria and Afghanistan which are war torn can issue passports to their citizens.

How many of the NPP and NDC parliamentarians and in leadership roles are not proud to have lived outside Ghana and or obtained their classroom earned degrees and half-baked credentials? To sit in Ghana in 2016 and to not know how to automate government institutions is to confirm that we do not learn and proud of being silly or stupid. And if members of parliament were any sane and intellectually endowed they would know they have the power to take charge of any government institution that is managerially and operationally deficient and ineffective.

I have a driver's license in Ghana and anytime I have to renew I left it in the hands of others to collect for me,I converted my driver's license from here to the Ghana one since 2007, something some idiot has now changed to paying money to a driver's license office in your state to get your record before you are allowed to convert it.
Acquiring license in Ghana is a problem,even to renew is a problem.

1. The DVLA's operational office near 37 Military Hospital is like a cow market. It is congested with cars, staff, 'agents/contractors' and hawkers. You need to decongest the place, introduce more automaton and only keep essential staff there.

2. Introduce an appointment system to control the application process. This will ensure efficiency and reduce overcrowding in the waiting area. It will also reduce the corrupt practices that exist at present

3. Introduce a proper code of conduct which will forbid staff from doubling as agents. Its obvious that most of your staff are involved in this practice. A light skinned lady in block 'B' for example has never stayed behind her desk for more that 30mins; always running around in service to her private clients. Some one told me that, its fairly common for individual staff to go home every day with over C300 everyday.

Also, train staff to be more customer oriented; some of your staff are so rude they forget it is the public purse that keeps them in post. That bespectacled girl behind the 1960's eye testing machine is a good example of rudeness personified.

4. The DVLA is top-heavy. Reorganise to make it slimmer and meaner

The woman behind the counter asked him for his drivers license to verify his age. He looked in his pockets and realized he had left his wallet at home. He told the woman that he was very sorry but he seemed to have left his wallet at home. “Will I have to go home and come back now?” he asks. The woman says, “Unbutton your shirt.” So he opens his shirt revealing lost of curly silver hair. She says, “That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me.” and she processes his Social Security application. In other words at the time you were caught, you did not have a VALID drivers permit. That sums it all.

It does not mattter if you had been driving 50 years before!

This holds also for passports: an expired passport IS NO VALID PASSPORT.

People can obey laws when the structures are working and encouraging the obediance of the law. In Ghana even angel from heaven can't but to break the law or pay bribe. A citizen will do all that he can to acquire a driving licence, passport, birth certificate or whatever but the officials will simply not do it unless you pay bribe. Paying bribe has become a norm. Public servants have turned their official duty to the public into money making. We blame each other on which political party is corrupt than the other. We need to outsource some of the non-sensitive public services to private firms and give them realistic service target else NDC will come and go NPP will come and go but corruption will stay and grow bigger.
