As one person on this thread put it, how can Naa Ayele be given 4 years in jail (technically a 2 year jail sentence for parole reasons ...

I'm so pleased so many people on here are up in arms and disgusted over this judgment.

As one person on this thread put it, how can Naa Ayele be given 4 years in jail (technically a 2 year jail sentence for parole reasons) by the British judicial system for smuggling cocaine (Yes,Cocaine!!) and yet in a Ghanaian court, a backward systems incarcerates a poor driver for 11 years, just for smoking indian hemp, a herb smoked by millions, rich and poor, privileged or deprived....and I'm sure even some of those judges in Ghana.

The tax payer has to fund this driver in prison for 11 long years, simply for smoking cannabis? Even as a non-smoker and non-drug user, I struggle to understand where the logic or common sense is, in reaching such a draconian judgement. The tax payer's money should be spent on far bigger priorities than such nonsense.

I even wonder whether Ghana has any judicial sentencing guidelines and if they do, when was it last reviewed, as I find some of the sentences dished out by Ghanaiain judges as nothing less than primitive and outdated.

That judge is a shitty judge. I bet he paid for his driving lincence if he's got one, and did not undergo any driving test.Some Ghanaian judges are damn stupid.

Indian hemp is sold legally in many countries. Some allow for medical purposes such as epilepsy and chronic pain. Most countries would punish possession of small quantities with confiscation of the hemp and a caution. A lengt ...
