This is a desperate attempt to discredit the opposition in order to hold on to power, otherwise, any serious national security outfit would not concentrate too much on the 3 South Africans but rather on the people who imported them. As it stands now, all the opposition members are walking free. So this leads me to the conclusion that the priority of this Mahama govt is to win election. Ensuring security is a secondary matter to them.

Their attempts to create fear in people's mind as their main election message will not succeed because the average Ghanaian knows it's not possible to create rebels in Ghana. Even Rawlings who is half demented had the sense to realize this and that is why he reluctantly relinquished power to Kufuor. Nana Akufo-Addo may be many things but violence is certainly not one of them. He has no criminal record and no history of inciting violence so it's very despicable for the NDC to try to hang that tag of violence on his neck.

Most Ghanaians want a better living condition. They don't care about this stupid propaganda. After all if Akufo-Addo is planning to violence, why has the BNI not invited him or those who invited the south Africans? They won't invite or arrest him because their only aim is not to ensure peace but to discredit Akufo-Addo to win power again. But the NDC should know that, they won't remain in govt forever. The NPP are likely to also use the BNI against them when they come to power. If you plant evil, you will reap evil.

Young men were given private military training to protect and do dirty jobs for politicians in Northern Nigeria. After political activities were over, the politicians could not sustain them so they became redundant. Islamic religious ideologies were added to this redundant group and Boko Haram was formed. They were made to believe false ideologies that entry to heaven is based on how many "unbelievers" one can kill to satisfy Allah, and that 72 virgins await them in heaven. Now that Muslim politicians have stopped financing and sustaining Boko Haram and is even "persecuting" them in Nigeria, they have relocated to Cameroon, Chad and Niger and are being financed by solid terrorist groups such as ISIS and Al-Qaida. Boko Haram, a once "harmless" group is now a monster that accounts for over 20,000 deaths in Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger.
Who are these trainers from south Africa? What are religious ideologies? What are their links with other rebel groups in the Middle-East and Maghreb? What were his activities when some of them started visiting Ghana still at the request of NPP from 2012? How would NPP finance, sustain and control their trained militia if they don't win power to recruit them into the normal national security apparatus, the armed forces - army, navy, police, air force and others services? What religious ideologies have their 15 trainees already acquired? The 15 trainees may become trainers for a larger group.
This trend is dangerous and should not be encouraged be it from NPP or NDC or any political group.
Can any reasonable person advocate for private militia just because you support a political party? Can anyone account for the mayhem this group can visit on this nation if they are not gainfully employed after training? Will some not take up arms to become formidable armed robbers.
Similarly, Charles Taylor and Foday Sankoh all started with private militia for political purposes, yet see the mayhem and pain they inflicted on Liberia ad Sierra Leone respectively.
For heaven's sake, are military uniforms, sandbags and combat knives necessary for crowd control? Please, let us be farsighted when it comes to national security issues.
For all you know, a terrorist jihadist militia, a rebel group or a parallel military force is being formed on our blind side. Let us be wise. You and I are not safe.
