I think a stop be brought to this development.
You can't end up in a prison without being convicted and if admittedly the former Chairman of the AFRC did requested for Capt. Koda's release from prison and the request was rejected by ex-President Liman which signified that the Law is no respecter of persons, the Capt.Koda had indeed been imprisoned and Rawlings' call to Liman to release him was a favor being requested by Rawlings because of Capt.Koda's involvement in the AFRC.
We are one people and once Capt Koda has accepted the fact that he made a mistake by not doing a lot of consultations with the National Security before hiring the South African ex-police officers, I think the matter should rest with the deportation of the 3 South Africans.

An article dated 28th March, 2016 and sourced from joyonline titled, “Gov’t Wants to Provoke CRISIS [caps added] – Freddie Blay” was seriously miscaptioned by ghanaweb as, “Gov’t Wants to Provoke ISIS [caps added] –Freddie Blay.” This article recalls the analogy of the story of a messenger who was to deliver a handwritten letter that contained his death warrant. The letter read, “kill him, not let him go.” Being curious about the content of the letter, the messenger opened up the envelope on the way, and behold the letter indeed was his own death warrant. So he decided to change only the position of the comma since the handwriting could not be altered to read, “kill him not, let him go.” That saved his life!
The above referenced article had attracted over 250 comments, relatively huge by ghanaweb’s standards, as at the time of writing this article, with most of them condemning Mr. Freddie Blay, until the ghanaweb administrator’s attention was drawn to the wrongful captioning. Precisely, this is the kind of cheap and dangerous propaganda that the NDC government is seeking: to portray or associate the NPP and, especially, its Presidential Candidate Nana Akufo-Addo as a violent character so that it can paint the party and him in a bad light before the Ghanaian voters.
But the unalterable fact and truth remain that the mismanagement of the economy and their attendant effects of hard economic times visiting all Ghanaians, as a result of unprecedented corruption and bad leadership of President John Mahama makes the NDC government a laughing stock before the Ghanaian voters, who certainly see in those propaganda and lies! The huge utility and fuel prices increase do not discriminate between the pockets of the NDC, NDP, NPP, CPP, or PPP sympathizers. All share the harsh economic burdens alike.
The NDC government, bankrupt of any meaningful campaign message, is now desperate to make the case of the arrests of the three South African former police officers in the Central Region and Captain (rtd) Edmund Koda, head of security detail for Nana Akufo-Addo, for allegedly training 15 young men in VIP protection techniques, which included unarmed combat, weapon handling (to avoid accidental discharge of firearm) and crowd control (to avoid stampedes) a major national security issue when there really is non.
The government is crying wolf when there is no wolf. What is really wrong when a leader of a major opposition party takes appropriate steps to safeguard his own personal security, more so in view of an NDC rented radio presenter predicting that Nana Akuffo-Addo “will die before June 2016?” Such propaganda and lies only succeed in further alienating the sympathy of the suffering masses of Ghanaians from the NDC government.
If there is any single action that seriously could “provoke ISIS,” it certainly is the importation of the “GITMO duo” into the country. It, at once, sends the signal of “a friend of my enemy is my enemy” to ISIS. If the two terrorists, after being detained for 14 good years by the US government without charge end up in Ghana, then the Ghana government is really being a party to an enemy of ISIS, which is the US. This is a huge log in the eyes of the NDC government, yet it prefers to see only the speck in the eyes of the NPP.
It appears that the person that the NDC government fears the most in this whole wide world is Nana Akufo-Addo because of his incorruptible nature. For example, when Ghana discovered oil, some group of men approached him as the then Attorney-General of Ghana with the proposition: a Japanese company wants the oil extraction concession deal for forty good years in return for US$5 billion, which they can share among themselves privately. To Nana Akufo-Addo, such a proposition was dead on arrival because that was surely going to shortchange the fortunes of Ghanaians; who, after so many years of poverty have been blessed with a newly found major source of revenue in addition to the country’s traditional exports. Here lies one of his incorruptible character and source of hatred.
Now, to the NDC government, after numerous unsolved high profile corrupt cases under its watch, such as Alfred Woyome and other beneficiaries of the “create, loot and share” judgment debt brigade; the beneficiaries of the looting of the SADA guinea fowl and tree planting schemes; the beneficiaries of the looting of the GYEEDA schemes; the beneficiaries of the looting of the Smartty’s bus rebranding scheme; and being the government that has been the beneficiary of$37 billion in revenue, of which only US$7 billion is accounted for in public expenditure projects in Ghana, this deep-seated hatred for Nana Akufo-Addo and his NPP has quite a probable cause. But opponents of Nana Akuffo-Addo should bear in mind that any assassination of him is going to be the immediate and surest path to a major civil unrest!
This panic and deep-seated hatred for Nana Akufo-Addo boils to one fact: his patriotism is so unflinching that entrusted with the power of the presidency, he is going to retrieve most of the country’s looted money by NDC government functionaries. And given what the anti-corruption crusader, President Buhari, is doing for Nigerians with his retrieval of over US$200 billion of Nigeria’s looted money stashed away by Nigerian public officials in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) and possible prosecution and incarceration that they face, it certainly sends tremendous shivers down the spine of corrupt Ghanaian public officials.
This is why the NDC apparatchiks are doing what they are doing in Ghana, all to the injury of the economically suffering majority of Ghanaians. So to all true meaning and suffering Ghanaians, take your future into your own hands by voting the NDC out of power!

Kofi Koda is a liar. Koda is a convict (not ex-convict because he didn't finish serving his sentence) who escaped from the Usher Fort prisons brandishing a pistol which had been smuggled in. He had been jailed in 1979 under the AFRC for using his position as military officer and concocted links with the AFRC to extort. I'm wondering why he can't be rearrested now, charged with escaping from lawful custody, endangering the lives of others while escaping, tried again and returned to prison with a harsher sentence. The statute of limitations doesn't run out in his case.

I served in the military with Kofi Koda. He was a coward who didn't own up to his mistakes and always schemed to take advantage of the generosity and the magnanimity of even fellow military officers. He was always looking for ways of making a quick buck. Glib-talking, deception and dishonesty were some of his tools. He was that type of person who'd not hesitate to throw you under the bus to save his skin if anything went wrong with something both of you had planned. He was selfish. My last encounter with him was at the 1st Brigade Headquarters, Kpeshie Ridge on June 4, 1979. While I was there with troops on a specific mission, I watched Kofi Koda disappear whenever there was the need for us officers to exercise leadership and put our lives on the line to intervene at critical moments to prevent bloody confrontations among the factions within the army. However, he would reappear immediately he realized there was no threat. His demeanor betrayed somebody who wanted to take advantage of the situation to do something that would benefit only him. Knowing him as I did, money as the object wasn't far from my mind. I therefore wasn't surprised when he was later arrested. This is the type of person NPP has entrusted the life of Akuffo-Addo to when even the branch of the military he served in doesn't have ANYTHING AT ALL IN COMMON WITH THE ROLE HE IS PLAYING NOW. If NPP had done "due diligence" on him, the Party would've known that they couldn't afford to touch Kofi Korda with even a pole.

By the way, you shouldn't dignify Koda by adding "Capt(rtd)" before his name. He isn't because he was dishonorably discharged from the military.

The Interior Minister did not mess up in bringing the statement concerning the three service men. There was threat and the Minster acted in the interest of Ghanaians.
