Do they just walk away when they've paid up? Do you access foreign held assets and recoup their cash value? Say they offer to stagger their payments over many years? etc etc.
The trouble is when we do not hold our leaders to a very high standard of conduct and performance abuse is what happens? No one seems to talk about state investigative institutions that will make abuse the unattractive option in the first place?. Don't we do ourselves a disservice when we glorify office holders when we have not seen any evidence of the transformations in our lives that will make them worthy of our praise?

Any incoming administration should take it upon itself to probe the actions of past administrations, for the people have neither the power nor the resources to carry out such probes. These probes will not only uncover thefts and embezzlements that the government can attempt to recoup, but also act as a deterrent against future wrongs by those who serve in government. What is unfolding in Nigeria regarding the handling of murderer Abacha's loot by previous administrations is a classic example why such a probe is very necessary.
