Ghana is paying six times its total oil revenue as interest on the country’s total public debt stock; that’s the computation done by former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“We’ll reach GHC99billion by the end of this year 2015,” the Running Mate to the Flagbearer of the biggest opposition Party said in a post-budget presentation interview with Richard Sky of Citi FM.

“The interest on this debt alone is going to be six times Ghana’s oil revenue,” Dr Bawumia said.

“When we found oil, we were happy that we found oil, but the borrowing of this Government has compromised the whole oil discovery; you need six times our oil revenue just to pay interest on the debt, not even capital, so, it is a really sad development,” he complained.

The NDC like all Socilaist inclined have moved on, or so it seems for a large number of its members. Democracy has come albeit in a limited form to NDC, and they are now apologetic to their past especially the militaristic past, a past which Nana Konadu was Her Majesty the Supreme Commander of 31 DWM, which tool she used to force bitter decisions down the throat of her husband and helpless NDC officials. The "good' old PNDC/NDC 1 days are over and would nevr return, and Konadu better get used to that. Infact no Ghanaian, be it NPP or NDC is willing for the return of that bitter period, no matter how 'corrupt' Konadu sees the Governments that have come after Her Imperial Majesty rule of 1981 to 2000.
