In the last few years we have seen a major decline in economic growth, when we found oil and due to the oil discovery, GDP growth hit 15%. Today growth has slumped to 3.5%. Behind these numbers is an even more worrying development because in a country like Ghana, you expect to see Agriculture doing well at the very least. “However, Agriculture is almost collapsing. Agric which should be the backbone of the economy is growing at 0.04% as at 2015. Manufacturing growth has also been in the negative for the last 3 years – negative 0.5% in 2013, negative 0.8% in 2014 and negative 2% in 2015. So Agric is collapsing and manufacturing is in the negative and yet our President wants to tell us that our economy is resilient. “Now I don’t understand what resilient means in this context when you look at all the indicators. How can unemployment be increasing, growth be declining, interest rates be high and rising, your debt levels be unsustainable, your health services are deteriorating, you cannot pay teacher training allowances, you cannot pay nursing training allowances, you cannot pay contractors, businesses are collapsing, utility prices are sky rocketing and yet you are claiming that the economy is resilient? This President is clearly out of touch,” the former deputy governor of the Bank of Ghana said. Dr. Bawumia also mentioned the steep fall of the cedi, which was now hovering around 4 cedis to a dollar, after depreciating from GHC1.2 to a dollar in 2009, the four-year ‘dumsor’ scourge and the government’s unbridled borrowing and resort to high taxes, which had killed many businesses and made production in Ghana unattractive

In 2015, it had moved to 75% by IMF and 72.9% by Bank of Ghana.. Negative) *Debt servicing (2012) was GHC 3.9 billion.. In 2015, it had moved to GHC 9.5 billion (Negative)* Expenditure(Budget) in 2012 was GHC 20.5 billion.. In 2015, it had moved to GHC 41.2 billion (Negative) *Economic growth in 2012 was 8.7%. In 2015, it had decreased to 3.6% (Negative) *Inflation (2012) was 8.8%.. In 2015, it moved to 19.2%(Negative) *Exchange rate(2012) was GHC 1.88..In 2015, it moved to GHC 3.88(Negative) *Domestic Borrowing (2012) was GHC 7.7 billion.. In 2015, it moved to GHC 53.0 billion (Negative)

We recently learnt Tollow cannot supply fuel so power plants cannot operate. How do you achieve the estimated growth with eratic power supply? You announced to the world the end of dumsor without mentioning the lack of redundancy in your power generation. I am a Ghanaian but very much ashamed of the type of thinking of our leaders. How long can you continue to lie about something that is scientific? Economic growths are based on macro models subject to underlining parameters. You do not have the parameters right yet touting to the people estimates based on on false premises. The economy of Ghana is doomed unless you get your ASS together on the debt and services, corruption, and innovative ways of generating power and bringing down the cost. How can Ghanaians pay more for power than citizens of US? Who will invest in a country with high energy cost, unreliable power supply, high taxes, porous security, corrupt officials and politicians, unstable currency, unsanitary polluted environment and inflation? At the end of the 8 year tenure of the NPP gov't Ghana's economy was growing at 8.4%, even without the benefit of oil revenue and at the end of the 8 year tenure of the NDC govt, Ghana is growing at less than 4% on the average with oil revenue and a loan portfolio bigger than all gov'ts from independence to 2008 combined.
That is the reality. The NPP govt did more with less as compared to the NDC govt and that is the fact.
Now, John Dramani Mahama must finish completing his handing over notes speedily.
