Our laws are not retroactive. This means that even if the Supreme Court rules in favour of Abu Ramadan, it cannot be applied retroactively. As at the time that the EC accepted NHIS cards for registration, no law forbid it. Therefore if the Supreme Court rules that they cannot be used,it can only take effect retroactively and cannot affect those used for the 2012 and 2014 limited registration. The NHIS cards cannot however be used for the 2016 limited voters registration and thereafter.

Just imagine Asiedu-Nketia and the NDC traveling around our neighbouring West African countries, on his mission to recruit non-Ghanaians to register for the coming elections, with the assurance to issue them with NHIS cards, so those foriegners (Togo, Benin, Cote d'Ivoire and Burkina) get easy access to Ghana's medical insurance system? Where in the world could this ever happen? The NDC, knows very well that they don't have large following or supporters; Kuffour's NPP gov't had proven to Ghanaians through his stellar performance as President during his tenure, how good governance, sound economic programs and decisions could help bring progress and prosperity to a nation. So majority of Ghanaians have seen it all; they've made up their minds to vote for NPP and its winsome duo; Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia.
However, there seem to be no confidence by most Ghanaians, in Ghana's judiciary system because of recent revelations made by ace journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, where some prominent judges were caught collecting bribes from brought before the courts for various crimes. And also the SC's bogus verdict in the election petition case brought befor the court by NPP, led by late Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Nana Akufo-Addo (flag-bearer) and Dr. Mahmud Bawumia in the 2012 election.
In this particular case before the SC, many Ghanaians are keeping their hopes alive; they're keeping their fingers crossed, so that this time around proper judgement would be made by the "Almighty House" so Ghana's democracy will thrive from here. Let's hope our noble Justices would garner enough courage to make a bold verdict. May God bless our homeland Ghana.

Mr. Sory after consultation with Mrs. Charlotte Osei, the EC Chairman and Mr. Sulley Amadu, EC Deputy Chairman in Charge of Operations, said a database existed however, the commission would not be able get the type of Identities used for the registration.
He said the EC could procure that information if the Commission went through the manual used for the registration adding that EC had over millions of such identities.
So EC is telling Ghanaians that it does not have data on the types of ID used for the registration of Ghanaians in the current Voter roll.
This clearly justifies the case of the plaintiffs, that the current register is fraud with people who are not to be in there. This is a big Shame and disgrace.
