SOURCE: starfmonline.com-------The vice presidential candidate of the NPP Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has described President John Mahama as a leader who is “out of touch” with his followers following certain campaign assertions he made during his ‘Accounting to the People’ tour. “For us, this will be a landmark election and in our point of view, the future is really at stake. In the last few years we have seen a major decline in economic growth, when we found oil and due to the oil discovery, GDP growth hit 15%. Today growth has slumped to 3.5%. Behind these numbers is an even more worrying development because in a country like Ghana, you expect to see Agriculture doing well at the very least. “However, Agriculture is almost collapsing. Agric which should be the backbone of the economy is growing at 0.04% as at 2015. Manufacturing growth has also been in the negative for the last 3 years – negative 0.5% in 2013, negative 0.8% in 2014 and negative 2% in 2015. So Agric is collapsing and manufacturing is in the negative and yet our President wants to tell us that our economy is resilient. “Now I don’t understand what resilient means in this context when you look at all the indicators. How can unemployment be increasing, growth be declining, interest rates be high and rising, your debt levels be unsustainable, your health services are deteriorating, you cannot pay teacher training allowances, you cannot pay nursing training allowances, you cannot pay contractors, businesses are collapsing, utility prices are sky rocketing and yet you are claiming that the economy is resilient? This President is clearly out of touch,” the former deputy governor of the Bank of Ghana said. Dr. Bawumia also mentioned the steep fall of the cedi, which was now hovering around 4 cedis to a dollar, after depreciating from GHC1.2 to a dollar in 2009, the four-year ‘dumsor’ scourge and the government’s unbridled borrowing and resort to high taxes, which had killed many businesses and made production in Ghana unattractive

Political hatred and political vindictiveness is a big problem and a threat to Ghana's democratic dispensation.It has become so because many professional politicians are self centered and avidly greedy often seeing political power as a means to achieving their vested parochial personal interest.The concept of political ideology and political objective is virtually non-existent being reduced to an individualistic personal agenda of political power and wealth acquisition.In other jurisdictions the concept of forging a positive,issue based political discourse in the interest of national development is very much operational.We have lost touch of the essence of this reality that politics is about differences in ideas,disagreeing or agreeing on this ideas to bring about development.Unfortunately many Ghanaian politicians want to be seen as cult figures who should be worshiped and unopposed even when they are wrong.They will go at length to blackmail you,persecute and even exterminate you if possible as a perceived threat to their expansive powers just because you disagree with them.They pretend to know everything and think their word is final when it comes to some very serious matters requiring technical expertise.A lot of people in civil service who are not politicians have suffered extreme victimization including dismissals orchestrated by high profile politicians in this country just because of personal differences they have with them.A lot of us misconstrue the definition of politics as meant to be activities by professional politicians.That is a fallacy since politics is every where and have a direct bearing on our lives.For example a wrong political decision by an MP or DCE is likely to affect the development of me as a person and my district or constituency as a whole.When a technocrat with the requisite expertise advise against a wrong decision by a politician you are instantly perceived as a threat to absolute political power and will be ruthlessly dealt with to maintain the sanctity of such absolute power.The Ghanaian politician is basically an intolerant tyrant and autocrat who believe in political persecution and oppression of discerning voices no matter assertive your argument once it goes against the said politician interest.A doctor who was dismissed from the Ghana Health Service in 2012 through an indefinite suspension on grounds of a mental illness is a very good example of political persecution of civil servants by top politicians in this Country.It later turned out that the majority leader Alban Bagbin who is well known for victimizing and persecuting people in public service using political power was deeply involved in the medical practitioner's dismissal and actually had letters copied him to ensure his directive was carried out.It turn out that Alban Bagbin had long nurtured that agenda of victimizing him.In deed he played a key role in that grand conspiracy that saw the doctor dubiously and falsely accused of suffering a 'possible delusional disorder' used as a basis to dismissed him through an indefinite suspension.Bagbin's beef with the young practitioner was basically because of his criticism of the Sissala East MP,Alijata.The doctor's criticism indeed had nothing to do with politics but rather burning issues concerning health and development one of which was improvising ambulance services in the vast Sissala East District to help curb maternal and child mortality.Proposals that were written to Alijata then as DCE were simply swept under the carpet,obviously treated as an irrelevant topic out of ignorance at the time when Maternal and Child Mortality were very high.Many years down the lane somebody as the District Director Of Health Service have applied this innovative idea long muted and Sissala East have come out best in maternal mortality with no maternal death recorded.The young doctor who had differences with the current MP then as DCE paid a price being witch hunted,persecuted and ultimately dismissed in typical case of political persecution and personal vendetta by a network of powerful politicians in the upper west region with Alban Bagbin at the forefront of it.He has been sacked,blackmailed and destroyed in a politically motivated attack using bureaucratic and administrative systems and structures in civil service as a cover up.The young practitioner who have been fighting his case at the Human Rights Court since december 2012 have his case gagged up in court by powers that be despite threats on his live.The widespread culture of political hatred,vindictiveness and persecution is because the contemporary Ghanaian politician is an intolerable tyrant who sees himself as a demagogue who should be worshiped without criticism even if they are palpably wrong.The political culture of Ghana is design to create cult figures making nonsense of democracy and political tolerance.

Actually political leaders or party leaders takes us the party supporters for granted coz after what they display on political platforms criticism upon criticism , in their close doors they move, sit, chat and enjoy together. Folks let's reason up and see one another as one (brothers and sisters ) and move GHANA our beloved country forward. I will end by saying it is people/human who forms political party but not the party that forms the people/human, therefore human beings are older than political parties. Once again let's reason up.

Alway the Npp claims that the NDC has not won any election, the 2008 elections that the NDC won was disputed by Npp even when they are in power.
