Let someone tell Mrs Akufo-Addo the truth that, her husband has long failed the leadership test hence he will be decisively rejected again come November.
After his infamous "all-die-be-die'' declaration which he later apologised for, one would have thought he will relegate his violent nature into the past. But look at what is happening in his own party? Anyone who would not sing his praise, he has suspended or sidelined. The coups, suspensions, violent attacks and murders in his party are his handywork and these have left the party in tarters.
Just two days ago, his party's acting chairman sounded an Akufo-like (but empty) threat of war to the whole nation when he warned that his party cannot guarantee peace for the country if Akufo Addo is not declared winner of this year's election. That is how bad Akufo Addo has taken his violent intolerance. Earlier, the Northern Region chairman of the NPP made another Akufo-like declaration that, for the NPP, this year's election is "a do and die'' affair.
To become president, the majority of Ghanaian voters must essentially vote for you irrespective of how highly you think of yourself. However, when Nana was rejected, he never accepted the verdict of the people. For 8 months he contested the people's verdict at the Supreme Court. Even when the Supreme Court ruled against him, he still did not accept the verdict paving the way for his supporters to accuse the justices of having been bribed. Someone who calls himself a democrat but does not have respect for democratic institutions is a dangerous chaotic person. Presently, Akufo Addo and his party are fighting the Electoral Commission as if they are his main contender in the election. Akufo Addo has proved over the years that he does not love peace or democracy. No doubt Kofi Koomson who knows him at close range once remarked that, he could not sleep with his eyes closed if Akufo Addo became president.
However, the strongest reason why Akufo Addo cannot become president this year is the fact that, JDM who is on the throne is doing excellently well. He is a great unifier and lover of peace who respects all whether they sing his praises or not. He is working hard pursuing an ambitious development agenda that is evenly distributed across the country. To drop such a winning team leader for someone as divisive as Akufo Addo will be as dangerous and foolish as running out of Noah's ark.
