Exploration and exploitation work on the Tweneboah-Enyera-Ntoumme (TEN) project being operated by Tullow Oil Plc and its partners would have been affected had the tribunal order a suspension of all activities.

What kind of nonsense are we now being subjected to by absolutely conmen who call themselves prophets and priests? The worrisome aspect is, the brand of people making these prophesies are nothing but poorly educated pastors, some of whom have very criminal background who hide behind the cloak - they dare you not to question the authenticity of their "power" - who are seeking to supplant the experts.

The other day it was conman TB Joshua telling us he has seen something from somewhere that Ghana is the target of terrorists. Today we have conman Duncan Williams trying to say if we don't pray we would lose some maritime dispute. What the conman forgets is the Ivory Coast too has prayer warriors some of whom are members of his own church. I have seen him preaching and ordaining pastors in the Ivory Coast. So if it is God and not men going to settle this case, which group is he going to favour?

We need brains not prayers to the table. Conmen and downright dimwits like Obinim, Kumchacha, Duncan Williams, and TB Joshua should not be allowed to dabble in national discourse. A case before a court can only have two outcomes -winners and losers - and we knew this before we even went for arbitration. Poorly educated conmen like Duncan Williams should just shut up and let brains lead. We need plans not prayers. Very typical of third world country with shabby and corrupt people at the wrong places will you find charlatans like Duncan William dabbling in national affairs. This whole nonsense was started and given impetus by Atta Mess who started to consult these but nothing soothsayers calling themselves prophets instead of brainy planners, thinkers and experts. In the end the same pastors led him to his demise offering nothing but false hopes.

There is nothing extraordinary about a Christian praying for his country and its rulers because this is what the word of God enjoins them to do. In fact the Lord, Jesus Christ wants his followers to petition God over anything. It is therefore wrong for Christians who do what is required of them, to blow the trumpet on it for all to see. It is even more wrong for such Christians to make others see them as the ones (as a result of their prayers) responsible for the good things that happen in Ghana.
But above all, the God, to whom we offer our prayers, loves Ivorians and all other nationals as much as He loves Ghanaians. I believe Archbishop
Duncan Williams being an international evangelist, had ever preached in Ivory Coast before. What message does he have for Ivorians concerning the maritime dispute? Just as in Ghana, there are several Christians in Ivory Coast who also know how to pray. Duncan Williams should therefore not behave as if God loves only Ghanaians.
The maritime dispute is purely technical. How to determine a fair maritime boundary between two neighbouring countries is clearly coded in the Law of the Sea. At the end of the Tribunal's work, a decision that is fair to both Ghana and Ivory Coast is expected.

I am inclined to believe what the archbishop is saying. Ghana must work very hard. The point is that France the colonial master of Cote d'Ivoire has special interest in the case and will use its influence to get the case decided for Cote d'Ivoire. As is common knowledge, the former French colonies must deposit up to 40% of their export earnings with the French government. This was agreed by all the colonies at independence. Mr Gbagbo was fighting to get this requirement annulled when he was president. This stance worked against him particularly during the war. The French government framed him up during the conflict, and ordered its army then resident in France to attack his forces leading to their defeat. Gbagbo is currently on trial with framed up charges of genocide. So the French government has a huge interest in the Ivorians winning the case - 40% of all earnings will go to France. Ghana needs all the prayers and hard work of the lawyers involved.

Apparently, Ghanaian are very interested in the dying oil industry than Ivory Coast. This oil dispute is not a point of interest in public discussion in Ivory Coast, we all remember what our first president (Felix Houphouet Boigny) said our only strength is agriculture and transformation. Producing oil is not our focal point of interest however if you want to refine it we can do that for you.
