KOTOO, by referring to Ewe people as a "primitive tribe" and attributing the genesis of what you call tribal politics in Ghana today to former President Rawlings and "his Ewe evolutionary [sic] gangsters" you are exposed as an ignorant fool! How are you and your ethnic group more civilised and advanced than the Ewes? What precisely have you and your people accomplished that the Ewes have not been able to? How more intelligent and educated are you and your people than the Ewes? Come up with specific answers to these questions and let's take it up from there.

You blame the "heightening tribal politics" in today's Ghana on Rawlings and other Ewes, whom you label "evolutionary [sic] gangsters". This is basically because of your deep and pathetic ignorance. Have you ever heard of Prime Minister K. A. Busia's Apollo 568 of 1969 when soon upon his assumption of the Prime Ministership he and his administration targeted and dismissed 568 legitimately employed civil and public servants, the overwhelming majority of whom were Ewes, on the charge of incompetence? Among the dismissed Ewes was a recently promoted GNTC man by the name of Sallah, who challenged at the Supreme Court Busia and his administration and the court unanimously ruled in his favour. The court pointed out, inter alia, that his dismissal was discriminatory and that Busia and his administration failed to prove that Sallah was incompetent, since his promotion to the position of manager was meritorious. The court therefore ordered Busia and his administration to reinstate the manager. Then Busia, who had touted himself as a great democrat, appeared on national TV and declared that no court, even Ghana's Supreme Court, could tell him what to do. And that ended the matter; Mr. Sallah was not re-employed.

As if he didn't learn any good lesson from that historical fact, President John A. Kufuor following on Busia's footsteps also targeted and dismissed a large number of Ewes from the civil and public services as well as from the military and the police administration soon when he assumed the presidency in 2001. He replaced those he dismissed not with Akans generally but with mostly Asantes. At one of his press conferences, Kufuor was asked why he favoured the employment of mostly Asantes in his administration and he answered that he did so because they had voted for him; they had put him in power and, therefore, he had to employ them.

It will interest you to know that during the Rawlings administration, a research was conducted that revealed that the majority of the senior staff positions in his administration were occupied by Akans and not by Ewes or people of any other ethnic group.

Given all the above, how can you or any others keep spewing this nonsensical falsehood that it was Rawlings who introduced tribal politics in Ghana? If you wish to pursue this argument further, then do the right thing that educated and sensible people do by coming out with concrete statistics to prove your point. Don't be buoyed only by emotions and spew this nonsense.

President Rawlings, I'm one of those who highly esteem you because of your views generally, your incorruptible nature and deep love for Ghana which you have demonstrated in your many years of leadership of the country , but I wish to state that this is one of the rare occasions that I vehemently disagree with you to some extent. Of course, if Ms. Ativor insinuated that Ewes should vote for the NDC because you are its founder, then she was totally wrong. I believe that people should support a particular political party for its ideology and how to translate that to accrue to the benefit of the citizenry when that party assumes the reins of governance and not on the basis of which ethnic group the founder of the party belongs to.

Where I differ from you on this issue, Mr. President, is your denial and total condemnation of Ms. Ativor's statement that the NPP will jail NDC members if the former comes to power. As you are aware yourself, that was precisely what the NPP did throughout former President Kufuor's term of office. Kufuor and his NPP did imprison NDC leaders like Abodakpui, Victor Selormey, Peprah and Tsatsu Tsikata. Indeed, Mr. J. H. Mensah had publicly declared that the NPP administration was going to imprison one by one the entire NDC leadership and by the time they finished doing so, the entire party would have been destroyed. Have you forgotten that, or are you not aware of that, President Rawlings?

President Rawlings, are you denying today that President Kufuor and his NPP targeted you yourself, trying to find some criminal charge against you personally and that this was the main reason why he established his Truth and Reconciliation Commission at the beginning of his administration? Did you not remark yourself that this Commission was established merely "because of one man", that one man being yourself? Did the Kufuor administration not even attempt to assassinate you? Have you forgotten how they often sent their armed secret service agents to trail you and harass you?

Besides, did Kufuor and his administration not target a large number of Ewes and dismiss them from both the civil and public services at the beginning of his administration, following after the footstep of Prime Minister Kofi Abrefa Busia's Apollo 568 in 1969? President Rawlings, how do you seem to have forgotten all that?

President Rawlings, I am greatly appalled by your praise of Nana Akufo-Addo today! How do you soon seem to have forgotten about all his corruption and corrupt activities? Have you forgotten all that he did when he was given power as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice during the Kufuor administration? During your own administration, an Akufo-Addo's cousin was convicted of drug dealing and according to the law, his property (house) was confiscated, but once Akufo-Addo came to power he summarily de-confiscated and returned the property to him. Likewise, when three top NPP ladies were arrested at the Kotoka International Airport for attempting to export cocaine to Europe, Akufu-Addo never prosecuted them. The case merely disappeared into thin air. These are only two of his numerous corrupt activities. And that is the kind of man, a man who obtained a Third Class baccalaureate degree from the University of Ghana after having been kicked out of Oxford University in England, who now desperately wants to become president of Ghana, not to mention the fact that he claims to be a lawyer, but no one knows where precisely he studied law. Is it any wonder that he also claims his law certificate is missing!

President Rawlings, before you condemn Ms. Ativor hook, line and sinker, please do not forget the above and other facts of her statement. To my mind, she largely spoke the truth, which she based on precisely what the NPP did in the past.

Rawlings has not moral justification to talk about Attivor's comment. If he thinks Attivor is wrong for making those assertions then he(Rawlings) should be ashamed of the indemnity clause.

We have a competent court of law in Ghana right ? That very court adjudged John Mahama winner of a legally contested election, and all Ghanaians went along with it. I want Mrs Attegbe to hear it loud and clear that the days of Kangaroo courts are over; if that's what she worried about. It appears the NDC as a party has accepted tacitly the whipping of Tribal Sentiments in politics. Every four years when it comes to electing president, the NDC has always played the tribal card. One wonders if this is the area the party thinks they are strong.
The fact that the founder of the party, former President Rawlings, an Ewe means that the party is for Ewes. The same founder’s wife wanted to stand on the ticket of the party but was rejected because the party faithfuls think the party is not a monarch. Again this same founder has been insulted and denigrated by the party, hence the emergence of BABIES WITH SHARP TEETH accolade. A person like AsieduNketiah, the General Secretary of the party shows gross disrespect to the founder.
The 1992 Constitution frowns on tribal politics but this seems to be the only good grounds for persons in the NDC to capitalize on.
It is also an open secret that the founder has not been happy with the goings on in the party especially CORRUPTION which he has had occasion to talk about. Those telling the people of the Volta Region that their founder is their kind should be told their founder has been disappointed with their conduct in the party and left to him, that party should go into opposition.
Madam Attivor has been a great disappointment to say the least. This is someone who has held government position and was taking decision on behalf of the people of Ghana. No wonder the NDC and the Government have only mediocrity to show for their work.
Madam Attivor was saying the NPP will jail her and HonourableFiifiKwetey; what have they done? Are they the only Ewes in the NDC currently? If they have been involved in corrupt acts, the money they accrue to themselves was not shared with Ewes so why will they want the protection from the people?
Those Ewes who make comment like this should understand that not all Ewes belong to the NDC. Ewes are scattered all over the country and they vote in presidential elections in their localities of residence. They don’t vote in Ketu South or any part of the Volta Region. If persons like Madam Attivor and FiifiKweteyhave brain washed their people back home that the NDC belongs to them, it is only an act of playing on the ignorance of their people. There areEwes like myself who belong to other political parties because of our thinking and aspirations. I am older than the NDC and the gift given to me by God is bigger than any human made arrangement.
Even though an Ewe myself, I have been wondering why it is only Ewes in the NDC who are fond of making tribal comments. Recently, I have mentioned persons like HonourableAgbodza, and Okudzeto also making tribal statements on Good Morning Ghana. So far in political discussions in recent past, I have never heard any person of different tribe making tribal comment.
I have seen our Elders seat in State and they condemn wrong doings among themselves so if Madam Attivor has done some wrong for which she will be imprisoned, our elders will not support her if they have the opportunity to talk about it. The Ewes believe in good moral training and so Madam Attivor was not appointed to be a Minister to engage in corruption. Any consequence from her conduct must be suffered by her alone.
Dan Abodakpi and late Victor Selormey and others were tried by Courts of Competent Jurisdiction before they were jailed. They were not the only people jailed. DrSippaYankey was also imprisoned. One could argue that those jailed were mostly Ewes but were the issues they were accused of, right?
Some are saying our Judges are corrupt but we should know it is not only our Judges who are corrupt in Ghana. There are many other professionals who are corrupt as well unless we want to alienate some and tag others. The NDC Government has been corrupt and we shall not praise them for their corruption. If the NPP assumes power and they carry themselves in the same way, we shall condemn it.
The NPP person who said sometime ago that all Ewes should be killed was widely condemned and he was not supported by the NPP as a body. It is not a good reference for anybody in discussing Madam Attivor’s tribal comment. As long as the comment by the NPP is condemnable, the same should be treated of Madam Attivor’s.
I want all Ewes to know that sometimes it is those we consider not close to us who give us the best of assistance in our lives. I was transferred and worked in Kumasi for about three years and I can testify to this. We should condemn the tribal comments coming from our people. The wealth they make are for themselves and not for the Ewe community.

Unlike the Akans that have many tribes ( Ashantis, Akims, Kwahu's, Assins, Denkyira, Brongs, Ahafo's Akwapims, Fantis etc) we ty to classify all of them as one group. Even within the Akans,s like the Akims, the Abukwas, Bosomes and the Kotokus do not have many things in common. However, we try and classify all these people as on group.
We Anglos are very good in taking care of our own kind to the extent that, if anyone of us get into position, we try to get our own to join us.
Dzifa's statement is going to build strong resentment against my people.

Of course what Dzifa Attivor said is wrong and I condemn it. But it does not give Rawlings the opportunity to deny what every Ghanaian including 5 year olds know about Akuffo Addo. Efo JJ must remember that, Attivor was being influenced by some previous statements he, Efo JJ had made. Who doesn't know in Ghana that he, Efo JJ, had beef with Late Atta Mills because of his failure to prosecute the NPP officials? Wasn't most of his appointed ministers who were prosecuted and jailed or were being prosecuted Ewes? Was it not these prosecutions that infuriated him (JJ) so much that he wanted a reciprocal? Efo JJ, "y3n akanfo" who made this statement? If you start to contradict your own beliefs, you loose respect from those who had supported you previously. Let somebody tell me that there were no corrupted officials in the NPP between 2000-2008. "Financial Loss to the State" which people coined this charge? How many financial losses occurred during the NPP's regime? How many of them were prosecuted? I remember Hon Agyepong once made this statement and it was true, " that Efo JJ collapsed all the businesses belonging to Ashantis" he mentioned names to support his claim. Efo JJ must stop his defense for the NPP, for your daughter wants to build her political career from a party you yourself had helped to build. As for my Madam, the least said about her the better; she nearly atoned for you in disguised. If your wife had been jailed won't it had indirectly affected you, Efo JJ?

So soon Rawlings and Konadu have forgotten what they themselves suffered at the hands of the NPP; the withdrawal of diplomatic protocols, the harassment by the BNI, and the persecution of key members of his administration.

In fact, the main reason that Rawlings himself cited for his bitter quarrels with with Atta Mills was that Mills refused to prosecute NPP members for all kinds of economic crimes and malfeasance. Yep, that is Rawlings for you, folks. Today, he is in bed with the NPP to dethrone Mahama because the NDC will not entertain his wife's nonsense and also his own inability to take control over the NDC.

To begin with, lets put this on record that Ativor didn't insult anyone, and didn't break any law either. The last time I checked , it was Jerry Rawlings who insulted Akans by calling them "Gbemelaoo", meaning Uncivilised people, Bush people, or/and Animals. Yes, that was Rawlings insulting Akans. He thinks everyone has selective memories like him. No! I don't.

Ativor was right in calling on her people to vote wisely. He didn't do anything wrong.

Did Rawlings issue any public public statement when Kennedy Agyapong called on Ashantis to attack and kill Gas and Ewes? No he didn't because to him, Ken's genocidal calls were not tribalistic.

Did Rawlings issue any public statement when Akufo Addo made his "Ye Akanfuo" statement? No he didn't because to Rawlings, Akufo Addo is not tribalistic.

Did Rawlings issue any public statement when Osafo Marfo said his tribe should be the ones ruling Ghana and must also be the ones controlling the resources of Ghana? No Rawlings didn't because to him, Osafo Marfo is not tribalistic.

Did Rawlings issue any public statement when the NPP, as a party, took the unusual position by refferring to Ghanaians in the Voter register as "Togolese"? No he didn't because to him, the NPP is not tribalistic.

Voltarians should not forget how Rawlings himself used divide-and-conquer tactics to get people of the Volta region to vote en masse for his NDC, something that you can't blame him for but for the incessant attacks, disrespect, and insults that followers of the NPP have for people from the Volta region.

Rawlings himself has forgotten what he suffered at the hands of the followers of the NPP. He has forgotten the derogatory names that he was called by the NPP and its followers. The man has forgotten. "Ashawo ba", that he was not a Ghanaian, "Akonta ber se fom", "Akonta be ko", and on and on and on. He has so soon forgotten everything.

NDC must be very careful. There is a secret agenda by Rawlings and his wife to take back control of the NDC. The duo have seen how the NPP has slipped from the hands of Ashantis into the hands of Akyems and how that Ashanti-Akyem schism is destroying the NPP. JJ and the wife wants the NDC to lose the 2016 election, go into opposition and that will give them (JJ & wife) the chance to take over the party once again. That is what the whole Rawlings game plan has been. By promoting Akufo Addo to win over Mahama, JJ is preparing the grounds to take control over the NDC. That is his NDC's "Agenda 2020" equivalence.

Only fools fail to read into what is influencing his vitriol against his own NDC. If your brain is up to the task, you will understand what is going on. Rawlings wants to see the NDC defeated so that he can take "his" party back.

Nana Akuffo Addo is the last man to susgest that he plays diatribe in Ghana politics. Nana Akuffo Addo is the most honest politician the country has now. Mahama who did not carry cocoa sack in the hinterlands during revolution, a bonded Legon for the Soviet Union and now has come to walk on the bridge. Instead of promoting the union, he resorts to divide and rule, knocking heads of one ethnic group against the other. Somebody tell Mahama those who practiced tribalism, nepotism and religiosity never succeeded in Africa. Today ndc under Mahama is the most dishonorable party to want to associate with. Armed robbery never seen before in West African, white color broad day light robbery is a common feature of ndc. Further, scandals that have surpassed bottom na ground, Gulf na road.
