They even might not be Ghanaian but because it is a religious statement, they believe they have a take in that since religion to them has no geographical boundaries. Some will even be upset for the mere fact that Bawumia said a Christian should always pair with Muslims and vise versa when it comes to presidency in Ghana. They might be asking questions like, 'why not only Muslims?' 'why not only Christians?' and will go any length to seeing to the achievement of what they want including the use of violence if need be and that is worrying. For tribal sentiments though equally dangerous for a country like Ghana, how many middle eastern countries are Akans, frafra, Ewes to descend on us for that basis? We are all aware how the Boko Haram initially tried to force the hand of peaceful Islam into their war in Nigeria unsuccessfully. But before the authority realise that it was not a religious affair, they have gained strength to terrorize the people of Nigeria and beyond with gruesome killings! Dr. Bawumia is a leader who lacks circumspection and common sense! Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has spoken about common sense just yesterday. It is interesting to say that those she is secretly admiring because of hurt have shown lack of it abundantly. Indeed, politicians are the patience of this Nation.

My last question to Dr. Bawumia is, what happened to the late Alhaji Bawumia after Mr. Kuffour's 8 year term was over? What happen to Mallam Issa? Should we go into that? Someone should be telling Dr. Bawumia that his days in the NPP are numbered. After the elections, whether the NPP wins or not, he is going to have problems. If the NPP wins, they won't allow him to do his work, like they did to Mr. Paul Afoko. If the NPP doesn't win power, they won't see him as a credible replacement for Nana Akufo Addo. Some of his silly remarks of late would be used against him, especially this very one. I wish him well.

That two Christians are currently leading our dear country is as a result of a coincidence of events eventhough I would support a Christian/Moslem pair.
The reason Ghanaians probably let a Christian/Christian pair get in is due to our own prejudices.
We consider all northerners with Moslem sounding names to be Moslems. So we easily pass John Mohama as a northerner subconsciously. He has indeed played to that stereotype.

This is the tainted Ghana we live in.

One thing that Ghana should always be grateful to Jerry Rawlings for, was his drive to bring Muslims from the periphery of society into the inner circle of Ghanaian politics.

Rawlings encouraged the presence of our fellow Muslims brothers and sisters to be part and parcel of the political discourse. By so doing, we have a much better integrated society, where all partake in the political process, something that, somehow, has shielded Ghana from the kind of turmoils you see in Nigeria.

In fact, Bawumia's parents (Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia and Hajia Mariama Bawumia) were even part of the Rawlings administration.

It is not an issue of just having a vice president who belongs to a particular religion. What matters most, is the kind of respect that is accorded that person. We all remember what Aliu Mahama has to through at the hands of his political benefactors.

There are no other religions in this country or what? This is very wrong signal that can breed intolerance, a feeling of exclusion, frustration, conflict and violence. How can we develop right with such a deliberate policy of exclusion, where Muslims, who constitue about 30% of Ghana's population are so wantonly marginalised poltically? There is need for balance. Even the Constitution recognises the need for balance in various spheres, including religion, ethnicity, gender, etc. And so the need for a balance in all aspects of our political life, including the Presidency.
