Bawumia's reasoning is quite flawed. The Muslims are a minority religious group in Ghana, constituting only 17.6% of the population while Christians represent a whopping 71.2%, according to the 2010 Ghana population census stats. Owing to this huge statistical difference, Christians and Muslims cannot equitably share the functions of government. Indeed, it is even improper for Muslims to be given all those national public holidays. The most appropriate thing the government should do is to give those holidays to Muslims who choose to observe them and they must not be imposed on the entire non-Muslim Ghanaian population.

Secondly, it is the politician who wins his/her party's nomination who chooses his/her running mate to become vice-president of the country. The winner of his/her party's nomination must and is given a free hand in picking his/her vice and it is never based on the candidates religious affiliation. Indeed, it is no where stated in Ghana's constitution that both the President and his/her vice must be both Christians and Muslims. To suggest what Bawumia is suggesting, therefore, is grossly flawed and must not be entertained any time whatsoever.

If the Christian Council cant condemn Mahama for corruption then is because he has taken actions against all issues of corruption in his government. He is in fact the first president to have investigate corrupt allegations against his own appointee. Mahama is a good President

Dr Bawumia is right, it is better for your own to be vice president of a country than a minister of a sector. Every Nigerian party has a christian and muslim as candidate and running mate even though it is a muslim country, so for a party like the ndc which boast of muslim advantage not to select anyone of them to the castle or Jubilee house, but are quick to boast of helping them to Mecca , giving them ministerial position etc is like they support Fiifi Kwettey that they don't deserve to be there but rather let's give them this and use them. NPP is never desperate than the ndc who want to be there to keep their booty but Ghanaians will never accept it, bringing in Burkinabees and Togolese will not help you because Ghanaians will fight them off, not npp alone every Ghanaian who is feeling the hardship of this incompetent ndc thieves. That is very shameful of a man of his academic stature. Of all the arguments available for his use, and of all the logical countenances that could be applied, an intellectually lethargic Bawumia gravitated to a very elementary argument to support his pre-historic political calculations.

Bawumia is a quintessential example of the differences between academic pedigree and common wisdom: he might be equipped with the former, but woefully inadequate with the latter.

This is a shame, Bawumia; what a doctor are you? Continue dreaming that God loves only Christians and Muslims. Yes, God exist but He has nothing to do with religion. Believe it or not, all religions were crafted by humans in their attempt to explain how and why natural events take place and how God wants humans to behave not attract his anger through diseases etc. Yes, diseases were interpreted to be as a result of a sin; metal problems were associated with demons; but today we have gotten rid of some diseases and have other under control, not through the religious believes, but through pragmatic efforts through scientific research and development. No wonder Africa is retrogressing: you can imagine where we are heading to if leaders themselves are so ignorant, stupid and foolish to the point that they think their country's economic progress depends on believing in the Bible or the Quaran. Please, let's wake, come out of this religious nonsense and take a new direction to solve the numerous problems that Africa is facing. The Americans, British, French, Australians, Canadians etc. did not stop the spread of ebola on our own continent with the Bible or the Quaran. It is not also through prayers that these countries used to come out with medications for diseases, airplanes, TV systems, smartphones, satellites, spaceships (just to mention a few) that we all are enjoying today.
In fact we gotta get the new generations of Africans think differently if we are to make headway out of this dark hole of religious bondage. It surprises me that people still believe that the rainbow is as a result of a covenant the God signed with Noah (when in actual fact, it is as a result of dispersion of light, much similar to what you see around the headlight of an approaching car at night or the light from your phone's camera at night when the camera is on and is facing up), that the stars will fall on earth, even though the actual stars are several thousand times the size of the earth (they will rather pull the earth to themselves if they were to ever get closer to the earth) and are hundreds of millions of light years away (i.e., if a star that is a hundred million light years from the earth will require hundred millions years to travel to earth at the speed of light), etc. Even rain is believed to be falling from heaven, even though rain is as a result of water vapor from the seas and other water bodies that get trapped in the lower atmosphere (only about 1 km above the ground or so), cool and fall back as rain. For almost every little thing that is given a funny reason in the biblical books there is physical and evidence-based reason that can easily be tested. Yet we are told to just believe in these superstitious things without questioning, because if we question or refuse to believe God will send us to hell.
And now, we are told that our country will do very well if the flagstaff were to be occupied by Christian and Muslim leaders. But who are those who have been ruling the country ever since independence anyway? Not Muslims and Christians? And why is Ghana still waiting to be blessed? We need a short break, Muslims and Christians!!

I think Rev. Asante missed the line. 1. He delayed to condemn Bawunia. 2. He was so mild in his condemnation. He used supersonic speed and hard words to condemn Attivor. He asked Attivor to retract her words and apologize to the nation. Bawunias speech is highly dangerous. It can cause havoc in the country. It carried more weight than that of Attivor since Bawunia is vying for an office. He can implement dangerous policies in the country if NPP is voted into power. I remembered he said when NPP win, he would make Arabic a compulsory language in the country. Rev. Asante is very much aware of this and should know how dangerous Bawunia is. He should admonish him heavily and ask him to withdraw his words and appologise to the nation. I am now beginning to believe that the Chairman of the Peace council is doing disservice to the nation and can inflame passions in the country. I think Ghanaians should condemn the Chairman of the peace council for his posture. The Voltarians would not be happy about the way he handled Bawunia's dangerous speech. His posture rather gives more credibility to what Attivor said. Pastors should not be partial and partisan.

This means the Christians population is 4 times that of the Muslims
If you do your maths you will see that in terms of government appointments the Muslims may be over represented. a fact that Bawumia knowingly and conveniently choose to ignore

Christians make 71.2% of the population.
Muslims make 17.6% of the
population.
and traditional religion is 5.2%.
I am sure Bawumia is more than fully aware of this information but choose to ignore this.
If you go by the religious demographics the Christian population is 4 times that of the Muslim population.This means that in terms of appointment in the government the Muslims may be over represented

While NDC was in power, Hajj was properly organized, Muslims got a new region and the University of Development Studies was also built.
